Apple patent looks to extend battery life on future iPhone models using 'Jelly Rolls'

A new battery consisting of multiple 'Jelly Rolls" in a single pouch will be able to increase the time between charges for a future version of the Apple iPhone; in a patent filed by the Cupertino based firm, Apple says the new design would make the fuel cell smaller, lighter and more powerful...

Why do "android drones" always comment on all things "I"? Can one of you please comment and let us all know this great mystery? Why are you "hating" on "I"? Is it because deep down you know that you want "I"?

Huh, didnt see an android comment here yet to validate your troll so i might as well help another isheep. And i will enlighten you about your little mystery. There are two kinda people in this world. People who take things at face value and become drones to soceity and media culture. And then there are ones that think outside of the box. People who need validations to claims before jumping to conclusions. Granted, there are blind fanboys of each phone sort, but apple really does have a dumb grip on people. Its not only a phone, but a FASHION STATMENT. I saw a commercial where the punch line was “if you don’t have an iPhone, you don’t have an iPhone.” SERIOUSLY?!?! Does that really work?? Hell if I had a iPhone I would get rid of it in fear of being put into the brainless buyer category just because of that commercial.

That's funny. I just read one of your post on an Android article and it appears that you are no fan of the OS. I post on any type of article because i'm a gadget junkie, so i like it all, ios included. So I ask you the same question. Why do you post on anything Android?

Because iSheeple go to our blogs and makes annoying comments also. Yeah, this is the one small minor "feature" that phone manufactures/carriers seen to refuse to innovate for some reason. http://www.bgr.com/2011/07/13/rims-inside-story-an-exclusive-look-at-the-rise-and-fall-of-the-company-that-made-smartphones-smart/ In the middle of the article BB states that the increased 40% battery life of the next model was contrary to sales of battery chargers for the carrier lol. I still wish Apple wasn't developing this since they would lock up the idea only to their Apple ecosystem.

"andriod drones" we my friend have taken the red pill why you are still hooked into the "Jobstrix". You buy because it's Apple, I love Android but...have had Lg, Motorola, and HTC within the platform I have choices you are stuck with one.

Interesting solution. As long as battery compartment remains sealed....might as well fit in multiple small batteries. Shrug. Design will have to account for weight distribution to ensure a balanced feel in hand....but that is apples strong suit; design. Why do uphone douchebags never actually comment in iphone threads? If the ip5 has a larger screen...can you admit you prefer it? Of course we realize you can't admit to LOOKING FORWARD TO a larger screen; that would be admitting the current is a bit small. Miz is a complete and total fool.

Your alot to like more then one screen size. I like a range which is 3.5 to 4. Anything in that is perfect for me.

This is more of a bait and switch thing. CPUs and hardware have become more efficient hence devices have better battery life. El App devices also seem to have a darker screen brightness. This is just another marketing ploy on El App's part to manipulate the masses into thinking they are getting better battery life due to innovation. Much like the commercial stating that the iphone 4 has better battery life due to a lithium polymer battery. To the uninformed it seems El App has done it again and created a magical battery. To those in the know, every single phone on the market runs a lithium polymer battery.

My iphone gets better battery life then any droid i have ever had. For apple to advertise that to be a strong aspect of there phones is perfectly acceptable.

Im a Droid guy.. hence the name. Im a Verizon Rep and ive stated this several times, the iPhone makes a great product butttt my personal preferance is a DROID. Why you ask? Because its a much better phone ;)

And yes "PotDragon" Miz is a complete and total fool/tool

Seems that it is just a simple Lithium-ion polymer (Li-Po) battery divided into multiple sections. I don't think that it will much improve battery life, maybe ~ 5 - 10%.

I don't think they're trying to aim for better battery life, that fact that you can maneuver the battery in order to fit better hardware sounds like a better observation.

Splitting it up and conforming around other pieces would creat the possibility of more battery space, hench more battery life. One more aspect that may contribute is voltage regulation. Battery life will decrease if initial battery voltage needs to be manipulated to conform to seperate pieces of the device (camera, cpu, antenna). By having seperate batteries that conform to each of those needs, it could result in major changes in battery life. Kudos if that is there aim.

why are andriod fans even on a blog about apple product shouldnt u be worried bout the next andriod phone instead of the next iphone i think yall hate to love apple

Im not a fan of apple products. But damn they got some smart guys working for them this is a sweeeeet idea I hope it works and gets out to more that just apple products even if they gotta pay royalites apple could make a lot of money from this.

Now this is a patent! Not some of the generic ones I have seen in the news lately. This is a specific configuration of specific components to create a different type of battery! I hope it works for them!

Another inovation for apple. I keep on expecting so much from apple in so many different fronts and they keep on exceding my expections. Its my guess that this will be implemented in the iphone 6 and if it is that will replace my ip4.

OR.......Could this be a patent bought in the Nortel bankruptcy purchase and Apple is using it as their own idea??????????

Finally a patent, thats worth the word "patent"! I love Europe for not allowing everybody to patent the physical way of breathing, or what ever. this patent might become very handy and interesting.
