Apple or Samsung? Which one do you think will pull ahead with smartphone sales in 2015?

We wanted to ask you what do you think about this incredible turn of events - Samsung seemed invincible in terms of smartphone market share just a year or two ago, and now Apple is breathing down its neck, selling as many of the brainy handsets as Samsung did in the past quarter. Will the trend continue, and which one will come out on top this year in terms of smartphones moved? Take your side, and shout out in the comments...

Your like a broken record, posting the same thing over and over. Ppl read the comments, you don't have to post the same thing 100 times.

Iphone sales just had their peak. And most of it was pend up demand from preexisting iphone users who craved for a bigger screen. Still the increase compared to last year sales (45%) is not that amazing if you consider that the smartphone market as a whole increased around 30%. It's fate will now be the ipad's fate, that is consistently decreasing in sales due to limited novelty. Be prepared for a streak of negative quarters posted by Apple.

That's something no sane person would ask. Apple has zero chances to even get close on a full year basis. Apple has one very good quarter)q4) , one decent quarter(q2) and 2 poor quarters and only its best qurter gets close to Samsung. In 2015 Apple might ship 230 million units a bit more if they go 4k screen. Samsung for better or worse will ship 300 million units plus/minus 30 mil ,dpending on how they adjust their strategy. So one has to be absolutelly ignorant to ask this kind of question.

For the sake of all that's good, I hope iPhones don't go for the 4K screens or the pointless spec war - I'll take properly built software that's optimized for its custom built hardware over specs and gimmicks.

Don't know why but Samsung is going to get people's hearts in 2015/16 with it's "Zero project",14nm Exynos processors.

Apple will do well, but won't sell as much units like with iphone 6/6+. Many iPhone user switched due to the bigger screen, because that was what they have been desired for years (even they wouldn't admit). Give me a 14nm spec monster, with non-glossy-plastic-S3/S4/S5-design and i am back in.

Consider that Apple lost nearly as much last quarter due to currency fluctuations ($3.73 billion) as Samsung Electronics made in profit (~$5 billion), and I don't think Apple cares if they have Samsung's marketshare. Samsung will keep flooding the market with handsets and probably take back the lead, but they will also contine to drift back into the Android pack in profit.

This poll proves that this sites is choke full of Android fanboys. The sales of these two companies are going in complete opposite directions. Not only that, all of Apple sales were highend devices. This is laughable. Actually, I bout as we speak, Apple is already ahead. It's a new quarter lol!

Apple only sold high end devices? Is that a joke? You consider 2012 specs high end? Maybe they are high compared to the older models. But for a brand new phone released to be using 2012 specs and selling at double they're actual value is crazy and the retards who buy them are just as retarded. If I went and bought a brand new 2012 phone from another brand, like lets say the Galaxy S III, I can get a brand new one for about $300 and it will be better then the present iPhone 6 and the Note 2 would be better then the 6 Plus.

OnePlus's flagships without the invite system. Hands down the best selling android in the next 2 years. Damn I just love that device. I really am not a fanboy. I have iOS and android devices. I just call it for what it is. I mean the price to performance ratio is just unbeatable when it comes to the OnePlus One. I'm really excited to see what they do this year. Usually I'm excited to see what the iOS flagship is, or the nexus models and to an extent HTC flagships, but dayummm that OnePlus is loco!

I think there's probably one thing for certain, Samsung's sales will continue to tank. There's a lot of rhetoric from Samsung about how they're going to refocus their efforts on the smartphone market, and bring new materials, etc, to their product line-up. The problem is, this isn't the problem with Samsung smartphones. The biggest problem with Samsung smartphones is Android. Android is a free OS that any manufacturer can take and slap on some hardware and sell for pennies. There's no innovation in this approach to entice customers over from another platform, and there's no 'stickiness' in this approach to keep customers you already have. However, Samsung are completely stuck between a rock and a hard place. They don't have the software expertise that Apple has to design their own successful operating system and ecosystem, but they also can't continue to use Android as their breakfast, lunch and dinner are being eaten by Apple at the high end, and all of the ultra-cheap, marginless manufacturers at the bottom end. But it's not like we didn't all know this when the Galaxy S first came out. Oh well, too bad for Samsung.

They do. The problem is they waited until Android had to much share ad its hard to break in. That is why Apple rushed to be first because they saw Android coming and knew if they wait one more year Android would have already had 50% and Apple would have had a hard time getting leverage. It's that simple bro.

Something is simple, "bro," and it looks to be you. "They saw Android coming" is the worst analysis in the history of technology. Nobody saw it coming until after the iPhone came out and Google decided to change from a Blackberry ripoff to an Apple knockoff.

not sure about Samsung's path, considering the strong rivalvy from China phone makers. but 2015 is definitely the doomsday for the hopeless Apple.

There's just too much competition among Android vendors for them to overtake Apple.

I think Samsung will recover from last year's lackluster Galaxy S5. Samsung knows the stakes are high and Galaxy S6 needs to be an absolute hit as the first 4 generations were. As for Apple, everyone knows this year is for the iPhone 6S and that's so whatever (you'll probably get an amazing, outstanding, overwhelming, incredible flush camera lens LOL).

Voted Samsung because Apple will not add anything but an "S" to the 6 and I have a feeling the S6 is going to be either top-notch or huge flop... but the hype their bringing about it is building up something. I would love to see both of their numbers drop and LG to make it a 3-way tie though.... that'd be pretty cool.

Voted for Samsung Apple just made record breaking sales because of the larger screen they been putting it off for 4 years already finally they give what there fans have been asking for years but what's left for Apple nothing Chinese company's Will start to steal there profits like Samsung's unless they come out with an amazing new feature highly doubt it I expect that from Samsung sooner then Apple

Flame war, click-bait pandering P.A. I'm taking a vacation from this site for a while. Trolls/fanboys in the commentary is one thing, but inciting it is just unacceptable. In addition to poorly fact-checked articles, writers incapable of proofreading their work, and the amounts of ads up the wazoo that make an ad remover/blocker a basic requirement just to surf the site... I can't take it anymore. Maybe the quality will go up in the (hopefully near) future. I'll check back then.
