Apple or Samsung? Which one do you think will pull ahead with smartphone sales in 2015?

We wanted to ask you what do you think about this incredible turn of events - Samsung seemed invincible in terms of smartphone market share just a year or two ago, and now Apple is breathing down its neck, selling as many of the brainy handsets as Samsung did in the past quarter. Will the trend continue, and which one will come out on top this year in terms of smartphones moved? Take your side, and shout out in the comments...

It proves that many people wanted a bigger phone over having a tablet. Especially since iPad sales continue to drop as people buy larger devices. Apple starved their customers by saying no to size to long. Now that they finally went big, everyone is storming to buy. Here is the problem though. Now that they have gone big, what happens to the sales of the next models? Many people wont get to buy this model because either they are locked into a contract already for another year, or rather wait for the second model which hopefully will have less problems. Once the 6S year goes buy, what happens to the sales of the iPhone 7? This is the reason Apple jacked up the cost of the new iPhone and didn't even add any features. They know once everyone has the big phone sales wont be this high for the next model. Lots of people switched to Android for a larger phone, now that Apple has one many likely switched back. I considered it as well, but its not worth it for me to lose the functionale I need just to own an iPhone.

Voted for Samsung because I believe they will finally shut all the critics up and drop a mostly aluminum constructed smartphone. When they do, then the question is how many 'overly concerned with construction' iPhone users will jump ship?

Apple posted record quarter sales and Samsung keep on silence, some researchers think this will come http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/29/7937177/apple-beats-samsung-smartphone-share

Dude. You and the Verge are just dumb. Samsung sold 80M phones per quarter for 8 quarters ina row. Apple does it one time and you think they someow are better? Run the numbers. In 2013 Samsung sold 350M smartphones. 160M of them were made up of just 2 models, the Note 3 and S4. While Apple sold a total of 150M for the full year. That means Samsung sold 87.5M phones per quarter in just smartphones. Add all the other phones and they sold nearly 100M phones per quarter. In 2014 Samsung sold 330M smartphones which is 82M per quarter. Apple sells 74M phones in one quarter while Samsung did it for 8. Apple isn't going to sell more Phones than Samsung in 2015, but I am willing to admit the gap could be closer since Samsung has had significant drop in sales. However 2015 is just getting started. Apple releases their phone during the busiest shopping time of the full year. Giving them very high sales always for one quarter. But then as we have seen year after year, those sales drop the next to quarters and by summer those sales drop by more than 1/2 as people wait for the next model. Apple has no competition with iOS. Samsung has to fight way more OEM than Apple.

Apple competes with all the same manufacturers as Samsung.

Samsung sold 74,5 million smartphones this quarter and 95 million "handhelds" (tablets, feature phones...). Apple sold 74,5 millions of superphones. Samsung sold nowhere near 160 millions of note 3's and S4's. Samsung galaxy S4 actually sold less than the iPhone 5C since both were available. Samsung just reported a sales and more importantly profit drop, from their already dropped quarter last year. Apple just anounced the biggest profit in history of mankind. Even the plain fact that Apple can match the sales of entire samsung mobile division, including phones sold for 100$ is hater-blowing

I think it will be much tighter next year Mainly because its probably going to be a 6S and 6S+ So they wont be quite as popular as popular since there will be much less changes I'm more interested to see if LG or Xiaomi or Lenovo-Motorola or HTC will be able to catch up or close the with Apple and Samsung

xiaomi and other china phones sell their phone at too low cost and most of their markets are in China alone.

Voted for Apple. But I think both Apple and Samsung will go down further, while Sony, Huawei, Xiaomi, LG, HTC, Lenovo, Asus will rise even more.

Hopely. Samsung and Apple phones are good, but not that much better as they sell compared to other brands.

I voted Apple because I believe they will sell the most phones but I do also believe and want Samsung will do well too. If Apple does release a 4" iPhone then that'll also boost sales. What I really want is the Gal. S6 to be a beast!!

Galaxy S6 will be a beast for sure, but judging by the leaked designs, their phones are getting far away from the wow factor. Really miss the good old days when Samsung launched their Galaxy S2.

they don't sell the most phone how do you believe that? What are you smoking. A company that has the most marketshare will sell more product. This has been a fact since forever. Apple sold 150 phones for 2013, Samsung sold 350M. Apple sold Maybe 170M phones for 2014, Samsung sold 330M. Again how you think Apple sells the most phones when they only did so for a single quarter. Scratch that, they didn't. Samsung sold 80M phones every quarter for the past 8 fo them. Lay off the drugs.

For calendar year of 2014 Apple sold 183,6 millions of iPhones. Samsung sold 330 millions of all "handhelds", including feature phones, which made over 20 millions of sales in tha latest, most disastrous quarter for samsung yet. Samsung is going down, Apple goes up. Lay off the keyboard.

Samsung has very few feature phone, you really are smoking. Go back and read the real numbers. SHow me the most recent feature phone they have made dude. I want to see it.Go back and look at all the phones they have made since 2009. 90% of them are smartphones bro. Even if you are correct, 300M phones they sold were still smartphone, that is still over 80M per quarter. Wake up man. Nokia and RIM have all sold well over 80M phone in a single quarter before. THis is Apple first time and you think they are going to take over the smartphone world. All Apple did was follow the real leader an innovator and people who want a big iPhone simply are running to buy them. How long you think it will last? I say it last until the 6S, after that the sales will fall to normal which is 35M per quarter for Apple

Samsung didn't "sell" 350 mill - how many of those cost over $50? How many are "free phones" that don't make anyone any profit? Apple is NOT IN THE JUNK MARKET where Samsung flourishes their market share. We're talking about high end market - you have those numbers? 350mill? Hahahaha, I can bet when it comes to devices that matter Samsung sold less than LG, or HTC, or SONY.

Like who? Darkkjedoo and Mxyzplekleklek? They will always say "Shut up and take my monies" on Apple products, even if Apple made a tissue paper worth $1000.
