0. phoneArena posted on 05 Oct 2012, 09:07

Looking at the iPhone 5 and the huge demand for it, it seems that the iPad mini will simply sell as much as Apple is ready to make…

The iphone 5 sold in large numbers due to holdouts still using the 3g, 3gs, and 4, who were waiting for a significant update or their own phones to feel more obsolete before getting a new one. While I don't discount the possibility that the maxipad sport, I mean minipad, I mean ipod xl, I mean ipad mini will sell a fair amount, I don't see demand being that high, what with the Nexus7, Kindle and B&N lineup, and Windows 8/RT tablets. People with the lower budget will get the cheaper device. People with the budget will want the more capable device. ipads fit neither description.

Well isn't that what Pretty much any phone would do if there's the pent-up demand for it lol. You just described the sales model of every company that makes phones that's actually what they all strive for when they released a new device

This isnt the model for android devices...when we buy android phones even flagships they dont cost through the roof cuz our lobby of companies are greedy but they are not AS GREEDY AS APPLE :)

They range in moderate prices good enough for us to change our flagships alomost every year.

Unlike an iSh33p eho after once buying an iphone is stuck with it cuz its so damned costly that they dont think of upgrading it the next year therefore they're stuck with obsolete tech!
My friend had an iphone 3gs and man was she crying on the lag she was experiencing on her device with the latest iOS updates!

Dude face it you just got OWNED!

U didn't own anything dude. It is the model for android devices, just ask the manufactures. iPhones cost the same amount as most androids, but the plus to owning An iPhone is the resale value it is common knowledge that iPhones resale value is far higher than any android or any other cell phone for that matter on the market people buy iPhones because they work good they last long and they sell like hotcakes for a good price when it's time to sell them an upgrade. My friend you just got owned. PS your friends iPhone 3GS probably lags because the software is too powerful for the hardware from 2009 that's the only reason it lags.

U didnt own me yet...I was busy with work so am replying now.

Ah ha so the iphone does lag I thought you'd never admit that :)
Ok the resale value for iphone is lesser than android flagships not all of them but some of them.
See an unlocked ihphone costs a whooping 1300 dollarss where i live and the note2 costs 650 dollars.
I have a better chance of buying a note 2 and reselling it for 450 dollars than buying an iphone for 1300 dollars and selling it for 850 dollars!
Thats how the tech world runs...tech gets obsolete fast but value from resale is determined not only by what the tech can offer but how much the customer is willing to shell out for a second ahnd phone.

A customer would not pay 800 dollars for a used iphone, he'd rather go and buy any other phone like android / WP flagships for lesser.
But ya selling an android flagship is cheaper cuz most peeps here can shell out about 400 for a used flagship not a mid-range device.

Now that's the civilized way of proving I OWN YA BRO :)

Let them hope iPad mini will never compete against the likes of Nexus 7 and the barrage of Windows 8 Tab-ultrabooks that are coming!
R.I.P. Apple!

How about this when they release one or when they announced one and then release one then we'll speculate about how much it might sale until then give it a rest

Anyone planning on buying this should take a long hard look at how Apple released the full sized iPad and then decide if they want to buy into that model of upgrades/releases. If I was planning on getting this, I'd wait for the Mini II, it's going to be what the OG should be.

I will probably have the same guts as the i5 (minus voice calling stuff), just bigger screen. Can't see why it won't have GSM, CDMA, LTE, BlueTooth, WiFi, etc. There will be Verizon, AT&T, etc versions.

I don't see a need to wait.

It will be a bigger cellular iPod Touch.

Apple does not make 7" but 7.85" b-c they try to avoid N7. And I think Apple will sell iPad mini at the same price as the new iPad no less so most likely iPad mini will take market share of other iPads.

When it comes to value for money N7 is clear leader by a mile.

I doubt if the price for the iPad mini and the new iPad would be the same, if we ever see the iPad mini that is.

I find that prediction hard to believe when you will have a market flooded with quite a few better and more economic fully customizable alternatives in the 7 inch range...

All the more reason. Folks want smaller. Fits in purses, small bags, glove box, etc ... better or easier.

Folks are choosing the smaller devices for that reason. They want a larger screen but they don't want to sacrifice portability.

So, to keep folks, Apple releases a smaller iPad. Folks will flock to this.

And an 7.85 inch tablet would be more portable than a 7 inch one? If the iPad mini comes at 6.85 inches, than it seems great for portability but at 7.85, I kinda doubt.

these people are stone stupid. IT'S THE SAME DAMN THING just a mini size JUMBO IPOD TOUCH. it will probably be 399$ same price as the Ipad 2 why buy that when u can buy the Ipad 2 for the same price. Seriously Apple doesn't know how to design products anymore just the same damn thing every year

Its almost certainly going to be overpriced. The new iPod touch jumped $80 and is now starting at $299, and the new iPad starts at $499. Assuming that they wont make the mini the same price as the touch, we are looking at a price anywhere from $350 - $450. That's just ridiculous.

it needs to be true first!

but after all the leaks of iPhone 5 come out to be accurate.. this might be true... but i still have doubt... we only see a dummy.. anyone could make one! but what makes me think is that before the iPhone 5 was release... the small pin or the lightning pin was already available on the iPad mini.. so i really think this rumor will became true!! and it will be price cheaper(the new iPod touch is price higher at $300 coz it is 32GB and 4" with retina display but this iPunny will use iPad1/2's parts) and the NAND inside is 8GB and 16GB only!
