Apple may "revamp" all iOS displays in 2014

0. phoneArena posted on 09 Oct 2013, 17:21

This isn't too much of a surprise, given that Apple has taken to changing its display technology every two years for its mobile devices, but a new report from DisplaySearch analyst David Hsieh says that the indications from the Asian supply chain show that all of Apple's next-gen iOS devices may see a display boost...

I am unsure. iPad Mini is 7" the iPhone is 4". That is only 3" of gap before they are impeding on their tablet space.

Prob get slated for it, but the iPhone at its current size is very nicely sized. Yes its not the absolute best experience for video/web browsing, as a bigger screen is *always* better. But bigger screens come with the compromise of portability. As a phone, the iPhone feels perfect and comfortable. In terms of being on the go and active its a great size.

I have a Galaxy Note 2 currently btw.

iPad Mini is 7.85", not 7". There's a huge difference there buddy.

The Moto X is almost the size of the iPhone and sports a 0.7" larger screen. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Yes my mistake, I was thinking of the Nexus 7 for a moment there for some reason. Of course the Mini is nearer 8".

Anyway. Yes I am aware of phones like the Moto X. All I was saying is that the current iPhone size is perfect for what it is. IMHO; I do not think Apple should start moving towards Phablet territory. They should not become Samsung -a device for every possible user whim.

If they can get the display larger, in the same device size more or less, then that's great I guess. But they would still risk making one-handed use even more difficult. If people care about that or not is personal preference I suppose, but in the current smartphone climate you have less options if you *do* care about it.

With Cook in charge it's a bit unpredictable because while he certainly hasn't innovated he is doing a great job catching up with Android and may continue. That being said, Apple's motto is pretty much "Oh, you think that's the best way? Nope, this is, no compromise." I don't see them caving in to different consumers.

With the position of the fingerprint reader don't expect iPhone to have small bezel anytime soon

Put it on the Apple on the back, then hype up how much more space this allows for a larger screen for the consumer because they care so much about your mon- I mean user experience...

The ideal size of screen for me is 4.5 to 5". Apple is too late for this.

That made no sense at all. You act like there's a statute of limitation on when you can change sizes. All they have to do is make it that size. think before you post please.

Who cares. I would love to see a 4.7", and guess what, Apple will be selling even more than this year.
That's the little push that Apple needs.

Apple used to be innovative, (when Jobs was alive) now they are just in the business of making the same sh*t over & over and taking advantage of their loyal fan base. But I guess apple users are "rich" so they can afford to do that...
