That's absolutely mad. I cannot understand people spending this kind of money on Apple products. Always bought the galaxy S flagships because of the beauty of their phones and the fact that it's Android and thus way more customizable. All we need is another good manufacturer which also develops their own OS at a reasonable price and Apple is gone

"All we need is another good manufacturer which also develops their own OS at a reasonable price and Apple is gone" That was good one :D it's impossible to do such a thing, Microsoft and Nokia already tried that, it didn't end well. No other company can build such a huge working ecosystem anymore. People wouldn't buy any other options than iOS or Android because they are years ahead, that's why Windows phone didn't had any real chance. "I cannot understand people spending this kind of money on Apple products." I can easily understand that, especially today when i'm thinking my very old 5s is getting newest OS upgrade, thats just insane. I left the phone behind years ago and now it would feel like a brand new.

"it's impossible to do such a thing" just like it was impossible to outsell Nokia or gather more people than MySpace on a platform. Was Blackberry not doing both the phone and the OS? Were they not the champion for corporate phones? When it comes to tech you need to realise that everything is possible. "especially today when i'm thinking my very old 5s is getting newest OS upgrade" This is why I'm saying we need another good manufacturer with their own OS. Also, your phone might still be smooth but it's specs are rubbish compared to today's. You might not care but I do. Looking at pictures or watching videos on a 640p 4inch display that was nice in 2005. But I get your point, not everyone wants to upgrade their phone every year or two but if people don't want to change their phone, Apple is going to suffer. The day the trend about iPhone is gone, apple is gone.

"Was Blackberry not doing both the phone and the OS?" You clearly missed the point completely, i'm not talking what happened before, i'm talking about future. Nowdays phones are lot more than before. Device to sell need big ecosystem with all the apps and games, If you don't have those you don't have potential buyers. And you only get those users If you can offer same what competition and like you saw with Windows Phone, app gap was just too big so people didn't want to switch.

You really have little understanding of the industry don't you? If about market share/domination. You don't know what will people expect from their phone in 10 years. So just like blackberry who were smashing it back in the days but couldn't not adapt, Apple could very well face the same issues. History (always) repeats itself.

I have big understanding of industry. If you are talking about what might and could happen after ten years, that pretty much suits to every company, so not sure why you make this Apple related. I also know If someone could adapt new ways it's Apple, they have all the money on knowledge to adapt something new If market needs that.

That will thankfully never happen. Why on earth would you want Apple gone dude? Competition is needed.

Exactly I don't get the haters on either side. I like when any company makes a great product and forces other to step up their game.

I don't hate it, I'm just mind-blown how people think "As part of ongoing research into mobile phone purchasing decisions simonlycontracts.co.uk polled 2,275 iPhone owners and found a staggering 59% admitted “blind loyalty” to the handset. The definition was users who stated they would not even consider researching other handsets when upgrading in future"https://www.google.de/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2014/03/21/the-majority-of-iphone-users-admit-to-blind-loyalty-why-this-a-problem-for-apple/amp/ And this was in 2014. I don't want to imagine the figures today. Most of the people of the people are buying iPhone because iPhone is cool and everybody cool has an iPhone, so we need to buy iphones

Most of people who buy iPhone buy it because they like iOS experience, deal with it. We have different TV Ui with different user experience, you prefer something over something else. Some like Sony tv some Samsung one LG etc. Some people like Mac OS some like Windows. Some like Vegas for video editing someone else might prefer final cut. It's all about what user experience feels good for you. Why it is so hard to accept?

Well said. We need choice, and having Apple bolsters choice for us. Plus, Apple makes great products, I have my gripes, but find an article where I ever said Apple's stuff sucks. I dont want any of these companies gone.

Competition? Is there not enough phone manufacturers in your opinion to have decent competition?

32. midan

They all offer more or less the same. Only one who stand out is Apple, that's why they are doing so well.

It's all about branding. Just like when they buy Beats by Dre for billions when everybody knows they are regular headphones with an accent on bass, it is because people have no clue about audio quality and go with the crowd. Apple knows this and buys the brand because people are emotional about it

@Midan why is it so bloody difficult to understand that apple buyers are one of a kind? Did you not read the article I posted? When people are saying iSheep, it's not (only) out of hatred, it is based on the fact that more than half of the apple buyers follow the crowd or they're obsessed with the brand etc. The main reason has nothing to do why consideration for specs or other more serious reasons to buy a phone but it is based on emotions created by the brand and the crowd

"Midan why is it so bloody difficult to understand that apple buyers are one of a kind?" They are normal people, just like most of people who buy Android phone. "Did you not read the article I posted?" i did, but did you? Or did you understood it? "Asked why 78% said they “couldn’t imagine having a different type of phone now” while 52% said they were just “really impressed” with their iPhone." Why would people switch to something else If they are happy with what they have? These are expensive products and you can't just test something else, you can do small test at the store but does thst really give any picture of the product. Of course people keep their safe choice If they are happy with it. Also your link was 4 years old and Apple keep doing very well means that you clearly don't understand the message of the link, If the product doesn't meet expectations people wouldn't upgrade to newer model, they would buy something else. I just bought super expensive 75" QLED TV, do i know this was best money can buy for that price, no! But i know it will satisfy, so i trusted safe brand. Exact same thing with buying iPhone or any other brand product. Usually people go for the safe choices, just like people before mostly bought Samsung flagship phones, but it didn't meet expectations so eventually more and more people are switching to something else.

"Why would people change if they're happy with it" Wow. So my electricity provider charges me 10. Another one charges 6 for the same amount of electricity. But I'm happy with my provider, so why would I change? Do you understand how silly this question is? Safe choices are not clever. Most of Apple buyers prefer safe choices. I'll let you finish this. I mentioned my link was 4 years old and that the figures are probably worse today. So I don't get why you say that.

What a stupid comparison was that electricity. And Yes i'm perfectly happy with my carrier plan, yet almost weekly someone else try to to sell me cheaper. I would switch If i'm not happy with current deal and how it works. I'm not going to switch i can't know does it work better or worse than my current one. But i'm perfectly happy with current so not worth to try. "Most of Apple buyers prefer safe choices." Again nothing to do with Apple users, people overall prefer safe choices, always have and always will. When you buy expensive product you want it to be good. Thats why so many Android companies struggle to sell, people don't want to try product which no-one have. Samsung sells a lot because of their brand, Samsung is safest choice from Android world, but their product didn't meet users expectations and that's why Samsung sales are heavily down. Haven't you noticed that most people who buy a car stick to same brand over and over again? Again because of safe choice, they liked it and when comes next time to buy car they very likely choose same manufacturer, not because it's best buy because it's good for them.

"That's absolutely mad. I cannot understand people spending this kind of money on Apple products. Always bought the galaxy S flagships because of the beauty of their phones and the fact that it's Android and thus way more customizable." So if we play your game, you just admitted that you are sheep. you just said you haven't had iPhone, so you haven't give it a chance. Also you said you always bought galaxy series phone, why didn't give a change to some other options? for example for windows phone? "All we need is another good manufacturer which also develops their own OS at a reasonable price and Apple is gone" Didn't you just said with big voice that people who buy Apple buy it because they don't look other options. So how this new manufacturer with their new OS would chance it? :) make up your mind ;)

You don't have to buy Apple products to use them. Yes I owned and used an iPhone and also macbook. Why am I buying the galaxy s series? Because they have the best screens, their design have always been amazing (apart from the S5), the cameras are amazing too but it's changing and companies like Huawei are shaking the market which is why I'll look at other manufacturer unless sammy comes with a beautiful design for the S10. This process of thinking about going to another manufacturer is almost inexistent for apple buyers because as I said they're emotionally linked to their device ie they don't think if there's something better from them or not. "With big voice" I won't even comment on that

"This process of thinking about going to another manufacturer is almost inexistent for apple buyers because as I said they're emotionally linked to their device ie they don't think if there's something better from them or not." It is because no-one else does iOS phone, it's lot easier to switch from Android phone to another Android, you get basicly same stuff, that's why Android companies are in big trouble. Again people doesn't switch If they don't see reason to do that, people doesn't care If they have best or not, this also matter of taste by the way. You said you like galaxy design, i never liked galaxy design. IPhone is always been the eye catcher design for me and same can be said to iOS, it's just so polished. I also buy iPhone because the best screen, the cameras are amazing and their design is best and ecosystem too.

I am personally upset with Apple in how they raised their prices, but I believe a lot has to do with 3 factors...1. Note 9 512GB price point. 2. Resale value of iPhones. 3. Sales of iPhone X.

Funny. Anyone wants their company's or business's product to sell for more whenever possible. At the same time, buyers want everything to cost less. When the two sides meet, you get complaints that amount to nothing. The reason other makers don't do what Apple does is because they can't. They're all working from the same borrowed software (Android), and adding their own style and UI is what allows them to also charge a premium. If Android-based phones were all stock, then prices would be significantly lower. Apple would have to respond by going lower as well. So now by charging for their individual spins, who's enabling the Apple premium as much, if not more so, than Apple buyers? It also doesn't take an Apple fan to switch. Anyone can toggle between iOS and Android now the minute one comes up with a great device. It works both ways.

I wanted to get an iPhone XR, but seeing as it costs $1029 in Canada, that may not happen until NEXT year's iPhones come out and the price of the XR goes down. Then again, seeing as next year is not an 'S' year, the upgrades might have me wanting the newer iPhones. .............................. AAAAAAAAAAPPLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

As stated on the previous article, this is expected considering those owners who will no longer be eligible for iOS 12. They will definitely go for the bigger one. If you're an iPhone owner and don't brag about it nor for social status symbol there is no need to upgrade to the newest model if the phone is still supported considering the small upgrade in internals and features.
