Apple’s website is saying that xs has a 5.85” display (it might be an error, but it definitely isn’t 5.8”). I won’t use my precious time to prove you wrong (you have to be someone for me to do that), I just set the things straight.

Copied from the Apple websitehttps://www.apple.com/iphone-xs/display/ iPhone XS 5.8” Super Retina custom OLED display1 2436×1125 resolution 458 pixels per inch Copied from the Apple websitehttps://www.apple.com/iphone-xs/specs/ Super Retina HD display 5.8‑inch (diagonal) all‑screen OLED Multi‑Touch display HDR display 2436‑by-1125‑pixel resolution at 458 ppi 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio (typical) The iPhone XS display has rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 5.85 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less). It says 5.8" not 5.85" as the advertised screen size. why do you have to lie? If it was 5.85 they would be advertising it at 5.9". Note the defining comment after they mention 5.85' "actual viewable area is less"! This really highlights your desperation to seem to be correct, but sorry you fail. You won’t use your precious time to prove me wrong as you have failed already. The notch is a notch, not an extension, the notch takes away from the usable screen area not adds to it and the iPhone screen is advertised as 5.8" not 5.85, all facts. Lying and ignoring arguments that prove you wrong is not putting things straight.

Even if Apple has made a mistake and the display is just 5.75” (as I think it is, if I look at the specifications of XR and Max), it still wouldn’t have the same size as S9, the status bar that has been moved in the extensions would still have plenty of space for the icons, and media files would still not be covered by your so called notch, because iPhone has a longer display (19.5/9 vs. 18.5/9 in S9). So, just keep trying, you might get it right someday!

No-one has said Apple made a mistake, you did. They clearly advertise the phone as 5.8" and every review or article uses 5.8" too. You know this very well, yet you say it is 5.85", which is a blatant lie. The partial, much-truncated status bar has not moved into anything, it has been partially cut out by the notch. The screen size is 5.8" the same as the S9 and the "horns of the notch" are clearly within the rectangle containing the diagonal. Therefore the notch must be within the screen area reducing the usable screen. There is no getting around this, it is just a physical fact. The aspect ratio has nothing to do with this. What is crucial is both have the same phone area and screen size, but the Samsung has a better screen to body ratio. All you are doing is trying (badly) to muddy the waters and failing to address the points that prove you wrong. I do not have to try, I repeatedly and easily prove you wrong. As has happened before you get more and more ridiculous the bigger the hole you dig for yourself.

If xs is advertised as a 5.8” display but has 5.85”, than the users get an extra .5” for free (and that's exactly the extensions), so iPhone has a display similar in diagonal as S9 + it has 2 extensions that give their users an extra .5” that S9 lacks.

Nobody said it was a stupid idea, it just didn't work for some people - myself included. When Microsoft removed the Start button on Windows 8 you'd think someone raped a nun from the "fans" reaction. It's about giving users the CHOICE and Apple isn't the only one who makes unilateral decisions when it comes to system preferences.

I refused to go with FaceID exclusively so I bought the 8 and 8 Plus instead.

Yes it does. But Apple is too stubborn to do the same. I feel Apple is only testing its customers now to see how far it can go before cracking them.

It is called "Retina bionic Touch id". It will be invented by apple.
