Apple iPhone units are falling from the sky; devices survive drop from plane and carnival ride
Better cover your head or wear a hard hat while walking outside. Apple iPhone models are literally falling from the sky. Over the last few weeks, in a pair of separate events, an iPhone fell over 1,000 feet from an airplane and another fell 450 feet from one of the tallest rides in Orlando. Both devices survived. In the clip at the top of this article, you see footage recorded by one Cansel Yildirim, who was taking video with her Apple iPhone 7 Plus as she rode the StarFlyer on International Drive in Orlando with a male friend. And then, the phone, which was not protected by a case, slipped out of Yildirim's hand.
The second event was reported by Ohio's WHO-TV. The news report can be seen in the video below. On July 3rd, Sarvinder Naberhaus and her friend Donna Johnson paid to take an old biplane for an aerial tour. While 1,000 feet in the air, Naberhaus pulled out her iPhone and held it away from the protection of the windshield. Suddenly, the wind blew it out of her hand.
When they landed, Naberhaus tried to use the "Find My iPhone" feature, but was unsuccessful at first. She gave it a second shot and lo and behold, her iPhone was located. With a borrowed handset, she called her device, hoping to hear it ring. And sure enough, she found her iPhone lying in tall grass. Amazingly, the phone not only still worked, there was not a scratch on it.

We aren't telling you to rush out your front door with a net to catch a falling iPhone, but you might want to look up at the sky every now and then to make sure that an iOS powered handset isn't bearing down on your head.
