Apple iPhone turns 6 today

Six years ago today, long lines and plenty of media attention greeted the Apple iPhone as it was launched; the original generation of the device carried specs that certainly wouldn't live up to today's models. The 3.5 inch screen offered resolution of 320 x 480, and a pixel density of 165ppi, a far cry from today's Retina display...

Apple is good in laptops, desktops and tablets I'd add.. For phone I'd say.. It was a good device and a game changer.. Right now iOS, although being a beautiful OS, doubles as a fancy cage. Android may not be anything iOS is, but the freedom's worth it. The "options" that Apple implies confuses customers is what freedom is all about. Apart from that.. Happy birthday iPhone and Steve Jobs is certainly missed

It's only half as fast as the GS4 technically.

your just mad they removed the thumbs down... I know it was your best friend, but like the iPhone, its time has passed.

I never cared about being thumbed down. I will continue to comment as I did before regardless whether the rating system is there or not. iPhone time has not passed and it never will.

Unfortunately, all the innovation in iOS7 is copied from others.

stop saying that ios7 copy android ... they have nothing similar

I didn't say it copied Android. But every new feature announced for iOS7 is copied from other smartphone OSes. Every single one. And Android already had all of them except parallax, which is nothing more than a gimmick.

That's debatable. Name one thing that was innovative about the iPhone 5 that other OS's didn't have.

iCloud optimized lag-free os rich media content easy to use siri - yes, gog now is faster and cleaner but siri actually has more functionality and you can play with it Here are some hardware innovations: reversible connector 3 microphones Sapphire Crystal thin and light the earpods :) (i love them)

cloud based has been around for a long time before apple decided they invited it so was palm OS among others so what? The OS isnt as functional as android so are blackberry windows and android (and windows and black berry plam and others before) easy to use but less functionaliry then others not very functional for most people and most people dont even use it anymore 3 microphones because it took 3 to hear anybody.. not worth it so are tons of phones never used an HTC or samsung phone back in the day they had some amazing ones and the HTC ones that come with beats are some of the best if not THE best you can get for free 6 years and nothing special

There are many cloud services that came before iCloud Lag? Where? I don't see any on my phone. Apple does have a very good media ecosystem, but I was asking for things about the iPhone 5 specifically. Any phone is easy to use. Siri is slower and less accurate at detecting your voice, and Google Now is smarter. It was introduced in the iPhone 4S, not the 5 like I was asking. I'm sure there were reversible connectors before Lightning. Also, I wouldn't call it innovation because it made all accessories before the iPhone 5 obsolete and everyone had to buy new ones, it was more inconvenient. The Lumia 920 had triple HDR microphones, nothing new. Sapphire crystal? You mean the camera lens? All that did was make it thinner. It serves no purpose other than that. Nothing special. There are other much more thin and light devices out there, and some people actually prefer their devices to have a bit of heft, it makes the phone feel substantial and well built. Earpods are pretty terrible. Other much better head phones have designs similar to earpods, in which they directly produce sound into your ear.
