Apple iPhone tenth anniversary model is now rumored to be the iPhone X

0. phoneArena posted on 02 Sep 2017, 17:47

Yesterday, we passed along a rumor that the actual name for the tenth anniversary iPhone model would be the Apple iPhone Edition. Even with the story on Friday, some of us were hoping that the tenth anniversary iPhone model would be called the Apple iPhone X. This would have a great double meaning. The "X" in iPhone X would give the model a designation indicating a premium device...

"....because the upgrade, with the use of glass backing, is considered to be too major for the iPhone "S" name"

Which upgrades should be considered a "#" or "S" moniker? I mean Samsung upgrades the #'s with every new device, but the S3, S4, S5 were all identical outside with little improvements inside. Apple upgraded more from 5 to 5s internally than it did 6s to 7... What you guys think is a bigger upgrade: external looks or internal specs?

Sure the S series devices you listed were similar, but definitely not identical. Screen size alone went from 4.8 inches on the S3 to 5.1 inches on the S5, along with a move from 720p to 1080p.

The S4 was bigger than the S3, as the S5 was bigger than the S4.

They werw similar, not one local.

You need to l9ok up the word identical.

The iPhone 2G and 3G were identical. The 4 and 4S were identical.

The 5 and 5S were identical and so are the 6's, and 7's other than the camera.

I guess all the Notes look the same or use identical

S3 4.8 720P, dual core, Mali, 8MP
S4 5.0 1080p, octacore, PowerVR, 13MP
S5 5.1 1080p, dual core, SnapDragon, ip67, , 16MP

little improvements?

The S4 had so many features people complained about how the phone was sluggish. Which it was.

The S5 trimmed down those features.

It was not little improvements like you claim.

Physical design changed with each version.
Screen was made larger
Screen resolution increased
Camera resolution and performance improved
Additional sensors were added
Processor improved
Water resistance was added

But yep, they were identical lmao

Well, they already release "SE" version, so it's obligatory for them to release the "X" to complete it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

My iPad does not have touch ID, therefore, none do. Did I get that right?

I have an ipad without touch id. Was it supposed to get the hardware upgrade through a software update or something?

Yes. I just upgraded the video card in my PC from an Asus GTX 760 to an EVGA GTX 1070 via software update. It's so much easier than opening the case, unplugging the power connectors, unscrewing and removing the card, then doing the reverse to put the new card in.

Give Techie a break. He was kidding. He's a tech expert that works in the IT field. He owns the new iPad Pro 10 inch model.

I gladly will, if it offers what want. The Note 8 is that phone for me, especially after watching all the YouTube videos I have. We'll see what the iPhone has to offer.

I'll pay that for anything i want. When i was young I once spent close to 10X that amount on drugs in just one weekend. Fun times. Money is meant to be spent on things that give you satisfaction. Youre not taking it with you when you die.

Not sure if you're joking or serious but if you really have this ideology you need to re-evaluate your life. Just sayin'.

I don't want to take it with me when I die I want to have enough to not burden my family as I get older, and leave it to my kids to make their lives and their kids' lives a little easier.

You're already a burden teddy, you're a liar and overall just a man of low moral quality. Now pretending you'll actually leave any substantial amount of money-you keep hitting new lows, when I thought it wasn't possible.

Naming the phone IPhone X makes sense to me. It's a tenth anniversary phone and is distinguished from the other phones (now to be called the Iphone 8) which are probably more incremental updates more similar to the previous Iphone 7.

I think I would've gone with something more marketable and straight forward like IPhone 10th Anniversary Edition. Calling it X sounds like they needed something edgey. Theres plenty of people who upgrade may for the sake of upgrading because they think they needed the latest anything but can't tell you the difference between a SE and a 7. I feel like when most people hear iPhone x, they're not going to associate x with 10
