Apple iPhone 6s production to start in June: A9 CPU, 2GB RAM, pressure touch tech

As if to disperse any doubts about the upcoming iteration of Apple's iPhone flagship for the year, the Chinese blogosphere is brimming with tips that the device will indeed sport an Apple A9 chipset, just as rumored. The new silicon is expected to be produced by Samsung in mass quantities, taking advantage of the company's superior 14nm manufacturing prowess...

Not all true, i see many people having issues with safari because of 1GB ram so specs do matter in certain cases!

I always hear this crap brought up when I come on these sites - I've got 16 tabs open in Safari and never notice any issues with reloading etc. Who makes this all up? Sad, desperate losers it would seem... I must have just "got lucky" with mine of course.

That is a lie, Safari can handle 3/4 loaded tabs

Iphone users pay for the brand not for product, want a real good phone get the nexus 6 or a moto X (2014) or any stock android phone which are cheaper than the iphone yet offer the same functionalities and apps.

If specs are only for idiots, then you won't mind if apple try to sell you a 256mb ram with 4gb storage iPhone running on duo-core processor in the future yes? Please stop saying crappy logics when you yourself is benefiting from the market and technological progress.

i think what he is trying to say is, specs don't matter anymore if the user experience is pretty great. your logic only applies if the phone runs the same OS. but you need to realize that it doesn't run Android.

I didn't purchase a Galaxy device because it had better specs, I purchased it because I needed 3 specific capabilities for my job. I needed to be able to have access to my files with carry a laptop everyday, So I need an open file system. I needed to be able to move files to another device, with lugging a data cable that I will easily forget. I needed more storage capability since I like toting my complete library and not need to carry 2 devices. The hefty specs? I consider that a bonus and I still paid less than you did. I made a smart decision based on what I needed. You buy what is popular so you an feel accepted. I don't buy a phone to match my purse, or favorites shoes, or because everyone else has one or to get noticed. My phone has more specs because eit does more You have less specs and you do less. If you can live within those confines then do it, I couldn't. Not everyone cares about specs. But if I am going to also pay premium pricing, I do expect the best specs. After all if your device is premium priced, but doesn't have premium specs, then what exactly is premium about it?

Why do you feel bad for people buying the things they want and being happy with them?

my view on why people buy iphones >software ( one of the most user friendly OS on mobile device, software updates ,grt app support ) .even my grandma could use most of its features >hardware(underdogs-though it doesnot include most powerful hardware out there but optimized applications makes it relatively faster ) >design (minimalistic design ) other factors >trend(ifashion) >Money

>software: user friendly, sometimes, but there are many simple functions on android that are a Nightmare to get done in iOS. App support, yes I agree there. >hardware: Calibration and optimization, that is where they actually shine.... but for the price they could still use better hardware, and give people more choice. More MP in camera, more RAM, more battery, IPX5, etc... >design: there are some iPhone deisgns I like, but the 6 is not one of them... the bump is really ugly, and the breaking lines at the back is also not to my liking. The 5s/5 is a lot more attractive. >trend... definitely one of the main reasons why it sells, and the same can be said about samsung and long ago to BB. This is normal, but Apple actually knows how to keep things trendy. >money: well many people think that buying the most expensive device will deliver the best experience.. but this is not always true.

How is the A9 with (as tradition shows) possibly better performance than A8X and 2GB of LPDDR 4 RAM a small improvement ? Which manufacteur doubled their RAM in their phones since last year ? Oh I know, whatever Apple does has to be bad.

We you said it yourself as to why its a small improvement. The A8 was a small improvement of the A7. Its just 64bit. g4bit that isnt even being used because the apps in the app store aren't even 64bit. The chip hasn't given a huge benefit on the device that still has no full multi-tasking, low ram, and Candy Crash like games. The A9 will only be a light step above the A8, same ship with a slight bump in clock. The A8 is at 1.4Ghz? That means the A9 will be 1.5Ghz. A new chip name to go .1 higher? From 1GB of ram to ? Is a small step. From DDR3 to DDR4, a big steps. End result? The iPhone with DDR4 RAM will still do less than my device with DDR3 RAM. Which manufacturer doubled the RAM since last year? None. Apple hasn't rasise the RAM since the iPhone 4. They are way overdue. Here is why the iPhone needs more RAM. With more RAM the apps can do more. Devs keep making kiddie apps because only 50% of the RAM is available for their usage vs ,y device where more than 1.5GB of RAM is available to them. That is why games on Android the high end ones look better. That an better displays helps. The native resolution of Infinity Blade is 1080p, so it looks like sh*t on 750p. That si why the game is exclusive to iOS. Apple likely pays them to keep it off Android. Why? Because the game would be 4x's better on better hardware. Just like Windows PC's game better than Macs. Games are applications. Even with Windows, Macs cant do gaming on equal footing even using the same exact hardware, thanks to Apple convoluted way of installing Windows on a Mac. You are happy paying more for less, so be happy. But don't try to justify Apple being cheap and charging you more for it.

the performance is miles away than the previous model, especially on the S version, and you still get that kind of performance after 3 years of usage(before it gets the last iOS update, the last one sucks bad, like 4 on iOS 7, and 4S on iOS 8). the camera keeps getting better, though it's a bit lagging on the MP size. and the screen, even though iPhone's screens are usually one of the best, it keeps getting better. i can only think it's the RAM that iPhone lacks the most, with all new features keep coming with each iOS updates, though it only felt on Safari, all other things run very smooth and fast. with it's high price, i get 3 years support, guaranteed and scheduled OS updgrades, not all high-end smartphones get almost the same performance after 3 major OS upgrade, and hey, Apple got pretty good after sales services too, why should i feel sad?

ok post 1. explain your logic. in reality they are all minor upgrades to include samsung lg motorola htc and appje. i guess you call the m9 and S6 big improvements over the m8 and S5

Yay, 2GB of RAM. Now I can jailbreak my device with this truly "innovative feature" without any experience of lagging!

Just wondering, can pressure touch tell the difference between your palm and a stylus? That would be so awesome for iPads It would be a huge selling point IMO, since iPads are becoming quite popular for school/office work
