Apple iPhone 6 (Apple A8) performance review: CPU and GPU compared to the best Android phones out there

The Apple A8 is the first 20nm SoC on mobile, bringing a 25% boost in CPU performance and a 50% improvement in GPU compute…

What was mentioned was "3x bigger resolution" not "3x more pixels", so any comments trying to correct my statement are irrelevant as that wasn't what the discussion was about anyways. The second part of your comment is noted, but remember that we are comparing that which each manufacturer decided to place in their device. Let's forget about "convenient" arguments. It's convenient to point and say "well, GS5 has a 16MP camera...". No Android user likes to point out these discrepancies and points their finger and says "my phone has better camera than iPhone", ignoring the technical aspect that cramping more MP onto a screen, would CLEARLY create a more crisp image, but it doesn't mean the camera is better (ie: camera sensor), it just means the manufacturer decided to compensate for crappy sensor, with larger MP count. In like manner, said manufacturer compensates for crappy CPU, by clocking the cores at a higher ghz (2.5 each on the GS5) and increasing amount of ram to offload any potential bottlenecks.

I'm not defending that statement, since it's rubbish. But YOU said 25% more pixels, not resolution. And that statement is false, whatever excuses you come up with. And no not all Android users are like that, I'm an Android user and know that megapixels aren't the only reason for quality pictures. Nor does it mean that the other one, the one with more megapixels is a crappy sensor. Nor are the quad cores crappy, the A8 is just a little bit better and takes a different approach based on a newer chipset.

it got behind in some web browser test. I do agree iPhones have great GPU but Samsung are still ahead in terms of multitaksing..

Where did you get this test from show me. I don't believe you.

iphone 6 beats s5,bulls**t detected,go see gfx benchmarks of both s5 snapdragon 805 version managed to beat iphone 6(8 out of 14 benchmarks, that wasn't mentioned at apple insider the cat bit there hand while their authers were trying to mention 805 version of the s5) even though iphone 6 runs at 30% lower resolution and lower ppi, just another prove that imagination tech gx6450 can't come close to mali-t760mp6 or even adreno 420,it even can't compete at gflops 205 for mali,172 for adreno and only 115 for the gx6450 for poor people, lol really pathetic then you see an apple fan claim that gx 6450 is the best smartphone gpu

Behind whooped and absorbed by lg g flex 2 self healing back and all the article was saying is that the average clock speed of both processors was around 1.4ghz but when you consider that android can actually multitask the 2.7ghz quad core processor will keep the lag away. Not mention a 3000mAh battery keeps the processor running for a lot longer than a 1800mAh battery in the iPhone

LOL! It's very sad that you can look at benchmark results and clearly have no idea what you're looking at. Phone Arena provided two GPU tests. One was on-screen (where resolution matters) and the other was off-screen, which simply tests the speed of the GPU independent of the screen resolution. The point being, for the mentally impaired, no - the Samsung phones don't keep up.

That's cause Samsung sucks but take a look at google and LG devices and you might find a different story

Case closed! Apple and Windows don't need all that power to run smoothly but it's funny with android lag is heavily present on any chip under the snapdragon 800

Here comes the denial

Have you ever used an android phone? I have been using my Z1 for nearly a year and there is absolutely no stutter or lag. Likewise I have been using lower end phones such as Moto G without having any lag issues. You are the one who should stop with the denial that Apple is much better than Android. True IOS maybe fluid but please stop discrediting Android. I do give credits to IOS fluidity of my 2 year old iPad

The fact that you said u use the Sony z1 with no lag discredits anything you said.

Wow how does that discredit everything I said? I literally have no lag on this phone

i'm using Nexus 4, it lags and it stutters(i tested it with stock 4.4.4 and only like 3-5 apps installed). don't know if my definition of 'lag' differs from yours. and if vanilla Android can't run smoothly and stutters-free on those specs, i don't know what specs can, as i started filling my Nexus up with apps, it worsen. because iphone 5 with latest iOS version 8.0.2, runs far better.

My bro use a nexus 4 and no problem at all but some games lags sometimes but playable. There might be some other problems on ur phone. And he installed lime maybe 20 apps mostly fb,WhatsApp etc and some games. And from my personal experience I didn't find any lags on my Moto g(2013) and unite 2 of my friends (micromax) .

Had Nex 4 for 8 months, running smoothly overall. Only time it lags or stutter is when im playin games for a prolonged time, coz of the faulty hardware issue (thermal throttling)

Nexus 4 has occasional stutters and so does the Nexus 7 but the Nexus 5 certainly doesn't.

My phone running on 1.3Ghz Quad core processor[NOT A SNAPDRAGON] with 1GB Ram. Just flashed a custom rom. No lags-eggs. And customized heavily according to my demand. Running perfectly smooth.

Its funny how you are so wrong about the lag. My note 2 and 3 dont lag.

30. bucky

The only thing that can cure lag on a Samsung is a custom rom with no touchwiz. Only lag free android I have ever used is a nexus 5. Haven't used the Moro x but I hear those are great too. Please don't tell me how your touchwiz phone doesn't lag because every single one I have used is pretty bad. Great hardware and feature packed software....but they lag heavily.

My Note 3 doesn't either. It's called disabling apps. My Note has never lagged in the year I have owned it. Nor does the s5

Samsung Galaxy S5 here.....running smoothtly...lag free.

its pretty awesome when you buy a "premium" phone and have to disable a bunch of garbage that samsung puts on there just to run decently. which is why apple is high class.
