Apple iPhone 5s is the fastest smartphone according to benchmark tests

Just which smartphone is the fastest? According to Which magazines independent speed test, the Apple iPhone 5s beat out rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S4 to earn the title as the world's fastest smartphone using the Geekbench benchmark tests; in single-core testing, the full-featured iPhone had a huge margin over the LG G2, the second place finisher. The Samsung Galaxy S4 was third...

The sad reality is that iPhone fans will see these results and rejoice, whilst Android fans will cry foul and attempt to disprove them. Then, a few weeks later we'll get some group showing us the opposite results. Then Android fans will rejoice, whilst iPhone fans will cry foul and attempt to disprove them. At the end of the day, it simply does not matter. No synthetic test will be the deciding factor for people, especially those likely to visit sites like this one. We all realize that these benchmark tests, when performed cross platform, do not actually mean a thing. The iPhone is a great device for those that love it. The Note 3 (for example) is a great device for that love it. There is usually little crossover between those groups. Benchmarks are largely meaningless and do not demonstrate value. Getting bent out of shape over them accomplishes nothing, other than the continued animosity between fans of the platforms.

And us WP fans will get mad because we're not included, and say that WP blows everything out of the water... Lol❕ We're all retards❕❕❕❕❕

Though I don't choose my phones based on synthetic benchmarks, I gotta hand it to Apple. Those cyclone cores are freaking fast. I like the iPhone hardware (minus the smaller screen), but I just prefer Android to iOS when it comes to software.

Why such surprise for the single core test ? the A7 with only 2 cores is the bigget SOC inside a phone , witch means that each core is of massive proportions, more than twice the size of a Krait 400 and others...

Another iBS from iPhoneArena(and other sites apple patronise).... I bet apple owns 80% shares in Phonearena. I for one is tired of reading things about apple. The iBS is becoming too much.

(Y) apple. iPhone is the best. But where is note 3. I think note 3 is a phablet that's why it is not in this speed test

It's amazing how easy it is to discern an Alan F. written article from the rest of the articles based on title alone.

Cross platform benchmarks are tricky at best. That's why any tech site worth it's salt runs benchmarks with every variable as identical as possible. Benching a new desktop CPU, bench it in the same box as the last (if possible). Same ram, same MB, same OS install. What people need to take away from reviews is the usability of the device. You'll never notice if an app takes 3ms longer to run on one versus another.

Benchmarks do not matter to me.. As long as it is iOS, i would not be interested. It would also be that Apple would have designed IP5 in a manner that it would score higher in benchmark tests, for example, the 64-bit processor, it does not come to use by the phone coz' its RAM is very low but it would certainly give a boost in benchmark tests.. it might just be a business strategy..

My completely stock Note 3: http://i44.tinypic.com/zuo6wy.png ..over 3000 and way ahead the iPhone in the multi core score. But make no mistake, single core one is currently more important since most use cases still don't take advantage of a quad core. At any rate, iPhone 5S is plenty fast, but overall id give it to the Note 3 because of a future proof amount of RAM

iPhone is still just a phone. When/if iOS gets a true multitasking, the iPhone 5S will choke in a demanding use scenarios because of a RAM bottleneck. It is simply not a true pocket pc like the Note 3.

be ready apple 5s.. the coming of droid phones with octacore (yes!!! octacore) & 4gb ram (yes, 4gb!!) is imminent.. you will soon be beaten! LOL!!! that only shows quadcores with 2gb ram phones with unoptimized OS can be beaten by a mighty dual core with only a gb of ram phone with an optimized OS! a gimmick woud always just be a gimmick.. oh & we don't have to wonder.. thats the expertise of android & its OEMs.. a gimmick, a marketing gimmick, whick sadly, the gullible fandroids craves for!

Very funny cos the iPhone 5s lags like he'll trying to do a few things android does. Put android on that A7 and it wouldn't be that fast.lol

The only reason why iPhone 5S is the fastest smartphone alive in this world because of its smaller screen and lesser resolution unlike its enemies LG G2, HTC One, Sammy S4 and others that have 1080p >.< , but most of us doesn't noticed it, only few of us that have brain noticed it. So if you notice it you have brain, so if LG G2, HTC One, Sammy S4 and others that have 1080p will have the same screen size and resolution like iP5S who will win? Of course LG G2, HTC One, Sammy S4 and others that have 1080p that uses QS800 coz as all of us know that these phone are nearly iP5S benchmarked scores.

You just went full potato bro. I guess you don't know what Geekbench does? Install it on your PC and run it. Now set your desktop resolution LOWER and run geekbench again. Did your score go up? Nope because you don't know anything about it...LOL Note: it's a processor benchmark which has nothing to do with display resolutions. RTFA.

I just read through these comments , my god people are very opinionated . hmmm most likely didn't spell that right. I just got a new phone. I tried my friends 5s for a couple of hours, could not get use to the small size and even though I own a ipad aand I mac I just didn't like the operating system on the phone, it was okay but not great my Samsung 3 was much more enjoyable. so I went out to purchase a note 3 , kept it 5 days, wow it was like carrying a computer with you but the size was just too much, I 'm beginning to feel like godiloks. so I returned it and oh by the way brought the gear watch too and it was a waste, cool gadget but not worth it. was deciding on Samsung 4 or htc one, went with the 4 and truly happy. anxious to see the new ipad tues than will decide whether to jump ship to surface pro 2 or get ipad 5. these are my opinions , everyone is entitled.

And soon Nexus 5 will smoke the G2 and stand behind Iphone 5s.
