Apple iPad launch not your usual sell-out; real time chart shows breakdown of Apple iPad use

0. phoneArena posted on 16 Mar 2012, 22:18

Checks of a dozen New York Apple Stores by BGR found that none of them had sold out their inventory of Apple iPads by 5:00pm EDT; that is unlike past years when all of the stores would be reporting a sell out before the afternoon...

thats my point. they over hyped and constrained supply, and its still not selling out. which = fail.. especially in apple iOS sales terms.

Dude, u should read your bill. Tmobile breaks down every thing to the penny. if you dont know what it is, call someone. Those other charges are taxes, generally. Whenever you hear Obama grandstanding about taxing the telecoms "their fair share", he is raising cell phone taxes, which get passed on to the consumer. You are not better off at ATT. Your getting the exact same taxes while paying double for less. Maybe ATT is just being less honest and not breaking it down so much, but you are most definitely not saving a thing.

Oh dear me, is he the most respected one here? I am so sorry, I forgot my manners. I don't care about how much a random guy in the comments is respected. I'm not going to treat him any different than what I treat anyone else here.

"We all know how bad Motorola are with phones when it comes to quality."

No, we don't. Enlighten us, Miz. What percentage of Motorola phones could be counted as defective? What's their rate of failure in the first year? The second?

Come on, hit us with some facts. Prove, finally, that you're not just some loudmouthed meathead.

This oughta be good.

Loudmouth meathead huh? Are you so bitter about people hating Motorola that you'd do anything to try and paint them in a pretty picture? Maybe we should ask all the users of the X2, you know, the ones who won't be receiving ICS.

But of course, we could just talk about how crappy Motorola phones get after a few months. I guess getting ICS isn't going to help much. The phones freeze enough already.

Here, I'll even give you a head start. God knows you need it:

Yep, Motorola's phones sure are crappy, with the second lowest malfunction rate among smartphones, only 0.2 percent behind Apple.

Or, you know, you could just Google "Squaretrade reliability study."

And Im still waiting for objective proof that all Motorola phones suck.

How does him pointing out two device sales at the end of the day not have anything to do with the discussion? It is a comparison in which gives us some gauge for the day of a prominent launch.

The point is directly relating to the article of not possessing the massive lines accompanied with an Apple product launch.

I'm not saying Apple didn't massively sell the new iPad on line. I'm just trying to understand whether you're upset that you expected huge crowds surrounding stores and are taking it out on a sales rep that worked this particular day in hopes to make sales.

Because it was pointless. What did it have to do with the iPad? If he wanted to ramble on about his miserable life, get a blog or a twitter account and spam it there, not here.

Personally, I might have been interested in buying the new iPad.

Unfortunately, the announcement came ahead of time that W8 tablets would be coming out later this year.

So I'll wait until the W8 tablets are out in the market before making my decision.

Likewise! Im doing the exact same thing. When that rumored W8 samsung 11.6" with 1600x2500 resolution, i will be waving my money. Until then, i expect to keep my wallet in my pocket.

I saw the iPad last nite when we were setting up the store for it and the screen looks amazing, but im holding for windows 8.

I think those Samsung commercials poking fun of the iFans waiting out in the cold for iDevices got to them and some wizened up and figured out that wait a minute, this looks exactly like the old one and having a faster processor doesn't mean much if you spend most of your time reading books and watching movies...seriously how much work done on the iPad 2 was so daunting that you needed to get the New iPad? I like how the iPad 2 looks but that thing is bloody heavy for something so thin, no chance in hell will I be lugging that around. I wonder if that Galaxy Note is anything to tinker with, I might give that the once over and a test run to see if it's worth it.

It was probably them trying to wrap their heads around why there is still inventory left and debating if its time to cast another spell on their iRobots

It may be approaching market saturation in America I believe.....do you think that if potentially 300 million Americans waited to get iPhone products on their carrier and all have it but Tmobile, and others bought wi-fi versions that they would continue to buy every year for a product that barely has made big strides since retina display? If I had an iPad 2 I would not buy an iPad 3 even if I was a millionaire. Realization sets in that I have "2" I don't need "3" is probably what some may be thinking.....reality check any one. Now don't go trying to interpret that I am downing iPads, or iPhones I am just proposing plausible reasons

Fookin shiitpad! Because of it, the Nokia lumia 900 was held back and the HTC Titan II has no specific release date. They're the real anticipated products.

Why doesn't this surprise me? Oh wait, that's right!! The "new iPad" looks like the iPad 2 and not much different than the iPad 1. Don't give me wrong, the "new iPad" has a kickass processor and the amazing display. But wait, the iPad 2 could be a great fit for the majority of the consumers. Why would they bother to get the "new iPad" when the iPad 2's price just got lowered. Sometime, a big company like iPad needs to step back and rethink about... let's say... EVERYTHING!!! Only thing that is really noticeable different between the "new iPad" and iPad 2 is the camera. But who really use an tablet to take a picture? Last of the all, you are calling your 3rd gen iPad the "new iPad"? Are you hinting us that you are going to stop making iPad for a long time before you come out with something amazing? That's what I got out of the name you chose, Apple.

That's because supply is plentiful. I don't think Apple wanted a huge shortage or anything.

Lol, nice excuse. U do kno there is a huge difference when u stock 10 device for 2011, and u sell all of them, and then stock 30 for 2012 and only sell 4? Right?

As an iFan, no way I'm gonna buy the iPad 2S, oh I mean the "new" iPad
