Apple iPad 2 Web Browsing Comparison

0. phoneArena posted on 13 Mar 2011, 17:36

Being the newest tablet on the block, it’s only natural to give the iPad 2 a run for its money when it comes down to the web browsing department. Lucky for us, just had to see for ourselves how much faster it’s able to load up complex web pages...

Doubt it, the video was actually a fair comparison unlike the usual text comparisons by PA where the conclusion always ended in "Well if you like what iOS has to offer then go with iOS, but if you like what Android has to offer then go with Android", which was really stupid.

Usually when iOS is pitted against Android there is obviously an argument thats all.

Nice comparison. The intro sentence threw me off for a second though. I must not have got the memo where "run for its money" actually meant test run.

I wonder which version of iOS was running on the iPad 1? If not v. 4.3, then the iPad 1 was being held back. I have noticed about a 15% faster load time for Safari on my iPad 1 3G after I upgraded to iOS v. 4.3.

What would be a 'real' test?

The Xoom actually looks faster and more usable than the iPad2 thanks to this comparison video. I don't like motorola usually, but the xoom looks way more responsive.
On the other hand it's not fair for all of them to be on the same connection, the first one to ask for the connection might get priority and better bandwidth. And the time they take to display the webpage is due to the bandwidth and the download time of the page rather than the processing and displaying of it.

do u have any reasons for it being better?

I totally agree with you. I think use different wifi spot on each device with the same ISP would be more fair.

I noticed how u can't just give Xoom it's props by simply saying that it finished first. Who cares if text popped up first on the Ipad2, it was still loading pictures while the xoom was finished.

ya, both times, all the advertisements and crap were done on the xoom first by a good few seconds, followed by the ipad2, then 1. Yet they never say that. lol.

so, by muting the dude and just watching the video the rendering champion is the

2nd place is ipad2.

goodfight.. goodnight! :)

I do not have the I pad 2 or the Xoom. It is pretty obvious to me the Xoom is faster. There are videos on you tube to back up that conclusion as well.

Hmm...apparently it seems most of the commenter here refused to acknowledge that iPad 2 is faster. Take a look at the video 3 times and get a good look. For the first one, the loading status bar was finished on the iPad 2 3 seconds faster than the XOOM. For the second one, the iPad 2 was 1 second ahead. I don't see how XOOM can be faster? If so won't iPad 1 be the fastest?

Yeah, its true. Look at the video. All this while the iPad 2 was leading and yet people still say the XOOM is faster. If that's the case then wont the iPad might as well be the fastest.

Sometimes due to their passion for the platform, some obvious strengths are overlooked. That's why I'm just pointing out the obvious. It is never bad to be a supporter but when it comes to the stage where you cant even tell right from wrong, then there's a problem.

I do not have a passion for either platform. Wit ht that being said you must have a passion for Apple because I will repeat was I said earlier. It is obvious the Xoom is faster. Is the Ipad 2 text up first? Yes. Does the Ipad 2 finish the page first? No? The Xoom does. So, I am sorry you do not see right from wrong. Take your apple colored glasses off and see what the truth is not what Steve Jobs tells you to see.

Jeff, I am sorry that you have to write twice to bring out the facts. The world (not just US market) is full of biased people like Crucial. Steve Job, over the years, has successfully deceived consumers to see & think what Steve wants them to see & think. It is very difficult to remove such "blind sight". It can only be shifted by the creation of another perception. If HP and Acer and Sony and Lenovo and Samsung are willing to spend enough money, with the right partnership and business models, any of them can beat Apple at the game. Yet, nobody has really tried. Long ago, I came to the conclusion that consumers simply like the hype and "stories". This is human nature, I believe.

Most people are seeing the Xoom as being faster. Unless you have the apple colored glasses on it is pretty obvious. But the funniest thing is the so called expert, the person who wrote this article and conducted the test declared the Ipad 2 being faster even though he had the results right in front of his eyes.

the blue loading status bar was finished, but on the top left of the screen is a rotating circle status bar that was still spinning. thus meaning that it wasn't finished. So look for the that the next time u watch it.

I understand what you're saying and you're absolutely correct. As is evident, any comment slightly in favor to Apple somehow translates into being an Apple fanboy. Just ignore it.

I've to admit that both are amazing , both ipad 2 and xoom loads pages faster even the xoom win in loading images first , both are equal , but the big difference is navigation !
iPad Wins , it's scrolling and zzoming are hyper fluid even the xoom does a good job !

lol, technically, on navigation the xoom kills it. you cant beat google maps with 3d nav, 3d street/building view, ect ect ect.

i know u were talkin about "web navigation", i just wanted to point that out.. lol.
