While the latest release of Android, version 9 Pie, is still a no-show when it comes to official statistics, Apple has today confirmed that its latest iOS release has reached a 50% adoption rate.

iOS 12 adoption hits 50 percent less than a month after release, Apple confirms
According to previous unofficial statistics, iOS 12 adoption reportedly sat at 10.4% after two days, which represented a significant drop in pace over the previous release. However, by the two-week mark interest in the update had grown significantly with an adoption level of 46% percent. And now, following today’s confirmation that iOS 12 has reached a 50% adoption rate in under one month, it seems the latest version of Apple’s popular operating system is on par with iOS 10 which could be found on 60% of iPhones and iPads by the end of October 2016. In addition to this, the adoption pace is significantly faster than that of last year’s iOS 11, which took almost an entire extra month to surpass the 50% mark.

Regarding the current install rate of previous iOS versions, release number eleven has dropped from a peak of 85% in the first week of September to just 39% as of October 10. Similarly, the “others” category, which includes all versions previous versions sits at 11%. This represents a drop in presence of 4% over September's figures.

Unlike recent versions of the operating system, iOS 12 concentrates primarily on performance improvements for all devices dating back to 2013’s iPhone 5s. It is because of this that iPhone and iPad users are understood to be favoring the update over previous releases.
