symbian is nokia killer
you can defend symbian till the end but it wont matter in real world
yes people want apps
yes people dont care with "mature OS" that dont have lot of apps, have ugly UI, ugly keyboard and ugly browser
i fine it hard to define symbian as a smartphone OS

Symbian is not a Nokia killer, it is just Mr. Elop that has made you believe that.
Nokia was doing good with Symbian 3, they had the biggest market share in the world in Q4 2010 7 Q1 / 2011. It was after Mr. ELop announced Symbian dead that the market share for symbian dropped.
Yes, the browser is not the best in Symbian, but it just got a new browser with Anna, and yet another new browser is coming in belle.
I agree Symbian is ugly, but not nearly as ugly as WP7, that's one of the reasons Nokia will never have as much market share with WP7 as with symbian.

I have to agree with you there. WP7 reminds me of the days of ANSI text graphics.

obviously apple is gonna have a banner year since it will finally be on all carriers.. but i doubt its going to be THAT MUCH of a jump. If the iphone5 is really a 3.7 inch underperformer many people wont upgrade. And if the difference is that small, a lot of people will go for last years i4 to save money.. just like the 3gs kept up in sales all year with the i4 this year.

My guess is it hits around 70 million in sales. As far as nokia, I see it in 3rd place. Samsung and apple will be neck n neck in a nearly "2 close to call" race" that has them bouncing back n forth through the quarters, but ultimately I think apple will edge them out. This however will be apple's last year of dominance unless the i6 is a drastic change. I also think that HTC will overtake Rim for the year as I feel that the eventual launch of QNX will not be enough to slow their downslide.. or androids upslide.

1) apple 70 million
2) samsung 67 million
3)Nokia 55 milion
4) HTC 54 million
5) RIM 46 million
6) LG 30 million

That is my best guess. All these reports are just best guess anyways.

Whats yours?

That's a lot of freaking smartphones, ain't it?

Agree with your post, although I am betting iPhone smashes a lot of sales records in the first couple of months of sales. Their share world wide in markets they haven't been in before at launch, and where smaller screens seems to be prefered, almost assures it. I am curious if the i5 can keep the same sales as the i4 did for as long. I find it hard to believe they can as the competition is no longer trying to catch up.

Like HTC's chances to challenge for 3rd. Worry that QNX will come to late in the year to keep RIM from dropping to 6th. Or worse, they rush them and they are poor quality.

i think QNX will be late too, but i dont think they will slide past LG this year. Blackberry still has the corperate world on lockdown.. for now. That is slowly changing as others get better security in their exchange clients, but nothing beats the security of a blackberry BES server.

Anyone else notice all the calm and semi-intelligent conversations that were going on in this thread before the hyper iDiot fanboys taco and Gemini jumped in and started fights? Wow, way to turn the intelligence level to -11 guys.

@remix. You said "just like the iphone 3gs kept in sales all year with the i4 this year". You seem to insinuate that the iphone is the topselling phone because they're combining the ip3gs and the ip4 total sales. On at&t, the ip4 is the topselling phone, followed by the ip3gs, followed by Samsung infuse. Ip4 and ip3gs sales are not combined. The ip4 and the ip3gs are on 1st and 2nd position. As for Verizon, well, we all know that they don't carry ip3gs, and that the ip4 is also their topselling phone.

Just wanted to clarify that, as you're attempting to downgrade due credit for the iphone.

gemini, go find me a single report on this site that breaks down "iphone sales" by iphone 3gs and iphone4. Until you can find that, you dont have a point.

ALL sales are charted as "iphone"... regardless of version or carrier. Only android seems to be broken down by version and carrier.

hense why dense iDiot iBots continually say its "1 iphone against an android army"... because all iphone sales are lumped under 1 heading instead of 3 (for the US) while phones like the galaxyS are broken down by carrier and/or version even though (exept for the epic's keyboard) they are 99% the same.

Facts are a fandroids worst enemy. The 2 year old 3GS still outsells all android based smartphones.

remember how you lack reading comprehension taco?
I said.. " find me a report ON THIS SITE that breaks down iphone sales by iphone3gs and 4"

im not gonna even bother reading your articles because u couldnt produce the requested proof.

Since most people dont troll 50 different websites and mostly comment on the site they frequent (aka, phone arena) they only go by the info presented on this site.... and that includes you. find the info on this site.

First of all it was reported on PA as well. Second this shows your lack of logic. If it's not reported on PA it doesn't exist?

I kinda already described how this works kid but i will tell you one more time. Android outsells iPhone fact. So really your argument just got obliterated..... as we say you scored one touchdown sorry kid its still 48 to 30.... Literally owning you is probably my favorite past time, and i am glad to be back doing it

and heres some facts for your:

whats this old news:

Oh no facts by more than 1 source... Sorry kid i don't trust some high school students on apple insider... I trust real journalist and hell yes androidcommunity.com is legit as a mother f**ker (Sarcasm...)

Now since i literally just raped you all over this site like i do. I will go back to the article.

I think apple will not only sell more iphones than anyone else but also be close to the number one OS sold period, meaning yes if they don't beat android then they will certainly come close.... an iPhone on all carriers is ridiculous and will certainly pull in quite the audience. Just my 2 cents now Taco I apologize but i will have to leave you, lets avoid posting on this site for a couple of weeks because personally after that i wouldn't want to show my face for awhile...

So you're argument is that android as an entire OS outsells one phone. That's not what I said and I don't dispute that. Also you posting RUMORS about the thunderbolt outselling the iPhone which have been PROVEN untrue with actual sales results reported doesn't own anyone, but you.

I was responding to remix who said there were no reports breaking down iPhone sales. You then come on here to argue a point I wasn't even making and link to rumors.

Nice self ownage

nope the RUMORs came out to be true... sorry. I was talking about how though apple is the number one manufacture, android sells more as a whole... Instead of trying to change the subject the proper response would have been, well iOS sells more as a whole if you include iphone, ipod and ipad sales, but it seems that you are so dumb that you can't even argue properly. (Thats SELF OWNAGE!!)

My main argument really was how you said facts were a fandroids worst enemy, i was showing facts are the only ally to fandroids.

Plus I don't care about the argument now but when i was in middle school I defiantly didn't have a cell phone and defiantly wouldn't be using it in class. Now Taco we talked about this stop posting during school.

@kjayhawk. I just love it when android fanboys try to twist facts around in favor of android as if all readers are dumb.

Android does have a bigger market share than IOS if you combine all android OEM sales. But that is not what this article is referring to. It is on which particular phone model sells the most on each carrier. And it is the iphone4 and the iphone3gs that are on the 1st and 2nd spot.

How did I twist facts?
I stated my point if you read my post you would have seen how i address the article. Plus CULTOFMAC isn't a f**king source kid. look at the bottom of the article there is a link where it says source, use that next time champ.

@remix. Taco have already provided you with multiple links. Here's another one.

So, I don't have a point because at first I didn't provide you a link, but you think that you have a point when you have not provided proof either of your assumption that the ip3gs and up4 sales are combined. Nice one remix. Typical android fanboy mentality. Also, there is an article here in PA a while ago the broke it down as well that the ip4 was on first and ip3gs 2nd, not combined. You even posted several comments on their cooking up your own calculations, lol.

the only time ive EVER seen it broken down on this site is when SNIGGLY posted it from other sources.

You say its on the site somewhere... FIND IT.

I bet before you do,you find 30 articles putting "iphone" as 1 category by itself instead of breaking it down into 3 iphones (3gs, 4-GSM, 4-CDMA).

Good luck finding it, because it doesnt exist ON THIS SITE, and apple doesnt release individual sales figures.

it just has phones listed with no proof of sales figures at all.

Expect Samsung to be much lower than Apple. Samsung has had a nice ride, but I'm sure the iPhone 5 will have somewhat of a negative impact on sales. Too close to call may be a little too optimistic

Well, EN,
Its all best guess really. I say we make a chart with our predictions and see who comes closest at the end of the year.. we need a prize of some sort... Maybe PA can throw us a new superphone next year for the winner? :)

If iphone is not past a 3.7 inch phone. That alone will be an issue and that is not counting any other manufacturing issues that may occur.
