Apple builds prototype VR headsets as it puts together a team for this "cool" technology

Apple is looking for its next big product. The tech titan could report lower year-over-year iPhone sales this quarter for the first time in history. Apple iPad sales keep declining, and Apple has yet to break out sales of the Apple Watch. With all of this in mind, a report published today says that Apple has already produced prototypes of VR headsets as it explores Virtual Reality as a possible market to enter. As far back as 2013, Apple filed a patent for a VR headset...

Apple pull out your photocopiers. Time to copy another Android OEM. Apple's board room: Stockholders: Apple sales are falling next quarter Cook: I know Stockholders: Hurry an do something about Cook: We are doing our best Stockholders: Its not good enough! Cook: We are trying! Stockholders: Try harder! Cook: What do you suggest?! Stockholders: We need the "next big thing". Cook: Copying Samsung again will make us look bad Stockholders: Not to our customers. Cook: Well we can do VR Stockholders: Its been done Cook: Yes! But not with an iPhone Stockholders: True! Go on... Cook: See Samsung isn't going to be supported like us by devs or blog sites. Everything Samsung does is a gimmick until we do it. Stockholders: True! Go on... Cook:So we will add a 4K display for a special model of the iPhone 7 just for that. Stockholders: Samsung has several phones that support VR without a 4K display Cook: Then we will do it first and the fans will love us again and it will sell like hotcakes Stockholders: Good idea Cook Cook: Yes!? Stockholders: Call Oculus and do a behind the Samsung's back deal Cook: We can't. Samsung has a contract with them! Stockholders: Find a way or else we will make your stock fall even lower before the next iPhone or iPad is released Cook: Yes MASTERS! Stockholders:Find a way to make it happen, or we will beat you until you have rainbows falling out your azz! Cook: Yes MASTERS. Just to warn you, VR hasn't taken off yet. The tech is still fragile. Stockholders: Its ok, even if we release a half-assed implemented VR piece of crap, like we did 3D Touch, people will praise it. All we have to do is make it slightly different and it will be called innovative and cool. Now go and create the iPhone 7 VR. Cook: Yes! Masters!!!! Stockholders: Make us money or you're out of here "honey". Cook: Yes MASTERS!!!!!

Yes. Its night time. I'm buzzed, I'm happy and I'm doing the stuff certain fans do just to piss people off. Why can't I do it? After all I am being just like them, not from the other side. I was just joking anyways. Hwoever, even though I was joking, I did say some true things. See things like wireless charging, fingerprint readers, resonant inductive charging, force touch and more have all appeared on Android devices before now. But blogs sites seem to have a gag order for not being n=mention with the same sensationalism as when Apple does it. Also, PA did an article on Qualcomm working on bringing inductive charging to Android via SnapDragon 8xx, and not one of the usual Apple fanbois made one post on how cool it was. As soon as an Apple article appears showing the same info, they all rose out of the ground and praising it and saying how this is going to be a game changer. I dont care what you think or them either. What I would like is for PA to give credit equally when new tech is available on whatever platform. Because that is what honest reporting is all about. People who love tech will still read about it an comment. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Qualcomms-new-WiPower-technology-brings-wireless-charging-to-all-metal-smartphones_id72071 Here is a link as my proof. Notice you dont see Darkkjedi, MXY, Unordinary, NCTX77 and all teh other Apple article trolling clones make one single comment. Yet you go here and the same tech is called "cutting edge". http://www.phonearena.com/news/iPhone-7-reported-to-have-cutting-edge-wireless-charging-technology_id77818 Look how all the cronies of Apple come pooring in with their bull. Look who's there. 50% of the comments are NCTX77, Darkkjedi, Alik, Unordinary and many others of the Apple peanut gallery who spread hate and fodder in Samsung articles and love and roses for Apple. Yet its the same technology. Alik made at least 10 comments that were 100% wrong. Yes I love tech and yes I make time to enjoy it. The only thing I love more than tech is my family. I dont care who does it first, I dont care about the claims of who does it best. What I do care about is honest reporting and non-biased information. I hate fanboys period. They are disgusting lowlife pieces of crap. Because instead of just enjoying all tech equally and just enjoying the benefits to consumers, they rather starty flame wars and like total pompus pricks for no reason other than to antagonize others who dont see things their way. They all make really good imperfect products where some shine in some regards and fail in others. But not Apple! Anyway back on topic. I tried a Oculus VR headset with my ex-Edge+. Its cool but I wasnt impressed. I was more impressed with what Microsoft showed with what appeared to be a live action game you can play with real object in your room. I forgot what it was called, but it was true VR that doesnt require a phone at all. VR has never big a big deal.

I don't care, I think it's just good that Apple is catching up. All of this could be explained in a paragraph. People like you seem to hate Apple catching up.

Dude, you are obsessed with Apple! You write a book on how much you hate them every night! Your hate shows me that Apple is doing their thing. When you stop talking about them, Apple must be doomed!

What the article fails to mention, but the report does not, is that Steve Jobs had a team doing this in the early 2000s, but they shelved it because the technology wasn't mature enough yet. Try again.

Come on, like we don't know Apple and these old antics. Whenever something succeed and starts receiving attention, we here that Jobs was working on it but decided to leave it for later.

Just like the oled screen, where the mighty Apple claimed that they have been working on it secretly for "years". Yea yea yea, whatever aple.

You have a great point. But, the fact that slide to unlock existed (and the technology was mature) didn't exactly stop Apple from suing companies over it and receiving bans. Also, mobile payments, fingerprint scanners, chamfered edges, and the color rose gold all existed before 2 years ago. They weren't just things some CEO had guys working on. But you would never know if you read some of the comments when any company other than Apple used them. Do you honestly think that if Samsung would have come out with a VR headset after Apple there would be world-wideal praise. Forget PA commenters, other sites would have a series of articles called "Samsung Copies Apple's Latest Killer Device."

Wow........ some tech that a company dabbled in, thought about bringing to market....just like damn near every other company that deals with technology. One could pull up similar info for MS, Nintendo, Sony, Samsung, LG, etc, etc. And I would bet MS also had some ideas around that time they shelved.
