It's a little, "ehh", certainly not something I was expecting from Apple. It's alright, definitely not the best watch, pretty sure Apple will make a much better looking watch in their 3rd iteration

He's right. It's just plain ugly. It's almost as ugly as the original Samsung Gear. It's the ugliest of the current crop of upcoming smart watches. By far.

Different people find different designs good looking or not, so there's nothing wrong with a_tumiwa's eyes. Their opinion is simply different then yours. Personally I am a bit skeptical about it all, sounds like nothing more then PR, american company wins american design award where its opponents are non american, this does not surprise me.

Same here. It looks like a mini iphone 3 on your wrist. And how does an unreleased product win an award?

The IF design award is not necessarily about beauty, but about design well thought through. If you look at previous winners, they are hardly beauty contestants My taxi by Hyundai Card Smartheater by Balmuda Fitbit Force LG G Flex Nike studio wrap

Agreed IMO the Huawei Watch is by far the best looking smartwatch And the Moto 360 or LG GWR tied for second (written from my iPad Mini 2)

Apple paid them to get an IF Design award. Yo, there's definitely A LOT more smartphones that are a lot nicer aethestically than this 1-day battery life tool.

i might not like apple but i do love the iphone design and he apple watch doesn't deserve a design award its just so ugly and i just feel like apple could have did a way better job with the design. the same guy that designed the iphone 6 must not have designed the watch.

Its not even out yet . As far as the judged watch should go is concept and nothing further .

Oh boy, this news is gonna ruffle some feathers!!! I don't think Apple watch is the best looking watch (LG Watch R2 from Audi takes the crown), but it's certantly coherent when you combine function and design. Main consensus and the one that matters would be the consumer - you can get all the awards you want, but it means diddly squat if no one buys it.

25. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

You can say what you want about the watch, ugly or beautiful. They did think about it and made some genius design choices. The interchangeable straps, the magnetic straps and the one where you can just make a strap shorter with a push of a button.

And all what you want, but giving a desing price to a product that is still a "concept" and it's not even in the market sounds really weird to me!

32. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

Wouldnt want to call it concept, but MD won a price before lollipop was even rolled out to the first Nexus

That's why I put the word concept in quotes. I'm aware that is not really a concept, but a product. But reallity is most of the people still don't have access to it and can't really judge. So I wonder how much access the guys from iF actually had (if any) before giving it a price. Or even if they just gave the price based on theoretical information, therefore a "concept".

35. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

You do have a point there, can imagine they had early access to be able to judge it. But I do know they have given awards to concepts as well, without even any working prototype to work with.

Who gave an award for this crap? Doesn't even come near to Moto 360, G Watch R, Watch Urbane or Huawei Smartwatch. Is it because this is designed by Ive and built by Apple?

10. Mxyzptlk unregistered

Look at the haters. This is pure greatness in design. Apple Watch will be the greatest piece of tech.

%101 agree

Still funny though that he calls material design bulls**t, when MD won the IF design award last year too
