Apple takes on Netflix and cable with TV+ streaming service, Oprah show

New Apple TV app in May, available on iOS, Mac, Roku, and smart TVs, will offer one-click HBO, Hulu, etc. signups, folding your current TV subscriptions and iTunes purchases as well. A streaming TV+ video service in the fall will tack on Apple-original movies and series, headlined by an Oprah show, for a price and media bundles to be announced at a later date.

Apple has turned full Samsung. No direction and throwing whatever they can at users and hope it sticks...

Apple is trying their luck as iPhone is becoming unpopular through the years.

IPhone is still very popular, by far best selling smartphone.

The new Apple tv+ subscription service will only get moderate success through the die hard Apple fans but won't trouble Netflix or even Amazon Prime. Netflix true competitor will be Disney with their Disney+ streaming app. All the back catalogue of every Disney, Marvel & Pixar film ever made along with the back catalogue of every 20th Century Fox film ever made. Not to mention the back catalogue of every ABC produced tv series along with back catalogue of National Geographic nature documentary shows. Disney+ will be a big success worldwide, will take a good chunk of market share away from Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The thing is all that stuff you mentioned isn't on Netflix or Amazon Prime anyway and they still have the massive amounts of subscribers that they do. They are offering different content so more people are likely to subscribe to both, not one or the other.

I'm confused a little. So what does Apple Tv actually do for you? Most people stay on one app when they decide to watch a tv show or movie they dont jump around like its suggesting.

Nothing new or exciting here. Just Apple once again selling something already well established to its existing fanbase. If that fanbase fades away, so will its services revenue and profits. Unless they start innovating with its core products phones and computers this will be nothing more than a short term revenue earner to cover the loss from its core business.

There's something called Android TVs and Android Boxes. What's new?
