Apple A9 chips go against the Galaxy S7 chips: win some, lose some

The Samsung Galaxy S7, in all likelihood, will come powered by two different chipsets - Samsung's own Exynos 8890, and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 - if all rumors so far are any indication. The chip that the S7 will ship with will apparently depend on the region, with the US getting the Snapdragon version, as usual...

Lol, yes.. It isnt about these scores, it is all about consistency and the fluid user experience. Am sure,we dont want a mobile that aces at times a day and slogs at random

And iOS products don't, right? Maybe that's why they get updated every other day, to "fix" some issues. On the meanwhile, I ve had my Note 5 for 3 months now, and I am yet to face any lag. Any.

Same dude actually as far as i remember my phone never lagged but i can be wrong of course but a lag in like a month of weeks isnt that much of a problem anyway

I agree. I've had the Note 5 for over a month now and I haven't had one single lag, not one. And the note is running much more software than the iphone. Unlike some of my friends iphones which I see them freeze from time to time. when I had an iphone the keyboard would freeze up from time to time also. Every new ios update would ruind more things than it would fix. I now think of iOS as a virus with a decent texting app.

you do know that the iphone 6s plus has had 4 updates while the note 5 has had at least 5. So I have no clue what these 'fixes' you are talking about. As well considering google releases constant 'updates' to fix malware issues, and other crashing issues...I wouldn't rant about updates. We are still waiting on Samsung to fix their VoLTE issue that is now 3 months old. Where calls will go straight to VM and the device wont ring. 3 Months of S6 owners that have random missed calls, because that screams 'amazing'

Well, that is a lie my friend. I only had 2 updates since I got my Note 5. And if you're talking about locked phones, then that's the carrier's fault, not Samsung.

carriers fault? Any updated needed even for a carrier phone is to make something work. TMO does not work on its own ROMs, they test ROMs, only thing that would be needed is wifi calling and that still goes through Samsung. AOGE BOH4 BOH6 COI5 COJ5

Depends on how the new touchwiz and the new exynos chip will compare to my note 5 anyway if they can make it as good as on my note 5 then it will almost be lag free :) loving the performance on my note 5 and i hope youre wrong on that i mean it wont make sense if the performance becomes worse

And im saying almost lag free not lag free cause im not sure if i get a lag from time to time well i cant really remember but anyway i like to keep my phone clean and i delete any app i dont use and any other stuff i dont need which i think everyone should do

That would be odd since my 7420 based Note 5 had zero lag. Silly little troll.

samsung won this battle, perhaps they need to pair their processor with a GPU that is on steroids and it will be game over for A9x. I don't see Apple continuing with dual core processors.

the exynos 8890 have a Mali-T880 MP12, it`s already game over for apple

Game over for apple? Remember this?http://www.notebookcheck.net/Imagination-PowerVR-GT7600-in-the-Apple-A9-Benchmarks-and-Specs.150859.0.html. Now compare your t880 mp12 to powervr gt 7900 next year. And not the 2015 gt 7600

Really Mali T880MP12 is a bit bigger than PowerVR GT7600 and almost certain will come with higher clocks. That's why the game is indeed over.

still comparing a tablet soc to a mobile soc but maybe your right.. but I do belive it will slaugher everything in the mobile dep..maybe even the A9X..time will tell

T880 MP 12 will be well behind the a9x GPU but aheаd of 7600 - the one in A9

Even so, i don't know, i think if Mali T880 MP12 have the standard frequency perhaps will be superior even to A9X GPU.

T880-MP12 will be a lot slower than A9X gpu. Not even comparable

I wouldn't say that Mali T880 MP12 will be superior to A9X GPU but will be closely of the same performance.

The T880Mp16 will.

The A9X GPU with aproximately 550 Gigaflops and the Mali T880 MP12 with about 700 Gigaflops it's going to give around the same. With the optimizations of Galaxy S7 software, like Android and Touchwiz they going to give the same GPU performance, as the Galaxy S7 as the Ipad Pro.

Gflops mean bullsh.t ... A9x gpu is around 55% more powerful than T880MP12 in gfxbench. Mark my words

That is what you think. Where did you see that? What talking is that? What foolishness is that? Where did you see that advantage of the A9X GPU? I don't believe in that and i think that no one believes in that, at least someone with conscious.

Do you measure car speed by horsepower?

Maybe close to Tegra X1 in synthetics (though I do not know if it is really as good for gaming as Tegra) but A9X will definitely br faster.

A9X has a 12 core GPU as well. The core are also bigger and faster. Sorry but GPU speaking the A9X is a beast. I dont like Apple but we need to give credit where its due.
