Android phone built in China comes equipped with malware

An Android phone made in China comes with an unusual and unwanted extra feature: malware. The Star N9500 comes from the factory with the Uupay.D trojan acting as the Google Play Store. The trojan will collect and copy personal information, and the microphone will broadcast your phone calls as well as conversations you have near the phone, to unwanted listeners. Text messages will be sent to premium services...

It doesn't look cool. The whole comment was obviously sarcasm. Or did you think that this malware thing really is a great idea IMO?

It is if you're the one getting the info :) Not so much if you're the one giving it though

Android, Windows, iOS or Blackberry is included, so technically espionage and other malicious stuff is pre-installed on ever existing smartphone ever made. Every single one of them, without a single exception, that's the truth.

This has nothing to do with 'Android' being unsafe, if you bought a fake chinese iphone it'd probably have the same issue, it just so happens the article is about an Android device. Simple, stick to 'well known' manufacturers or at least trusted companies and you shouldn't have an issue, the specs of that device are nothing to write home about and you could pick up a similar device from a trusted company for not much more.

Strange, a Chinese phone made by a 11 year old for half a cent per hour and living a poor condition location. No thanks

This is why I am not going to buy those amazing phones from small companies in China, no matter how cheap they are...

I have test some of these china handset its a 100% rip off from Samsung Touch Wiz. They even have all the Samsung usual pre-installed apps such as S Note. S Health. One even has stylus but does not work well. People buy them because they are dirt cheap. You can get a duplicate Note phone for one fifth of the original price. For me after testing it, give me free I also don't want. The cheap phone to get is Xiao Mi and from their main store only. Small shop can also pre-install those malware.

I purchased an irulu 10.1 tablet from ebay. It came with an embedded Trojan in the operating system. I have the guys name in china that uploaded the operating system. I gave it to google security but I'll bet there is nothing they can do.Mobile360 security found it. It's a good idea to run security scan on all new computers. I sent computer back and company immediately sent another that works well. The days of trust in others is long gone. Protect yourself, especially confidential and financial information.
