Android 5.0 Lollipop vs iOS 8 UI comparison: vote for the better interface here!

The year is almost over and both Apple and Google have already treated us to the latest renditions of their mobile platforms - iOS 8 and Android 5.0 Lollipop, respectively. We got introduced to these versions of the platforms several months ago. First was Apple, which showcased its iOS 8 at WDDC 2014 in the beginning of June. Several weeks later, Google followed suit and highlighted the spic and span novelties that Android 5.0 Lollipop was about to introduce this autumn...

All Lollipop for me. iOS put up lines between lists at pretty much anywhere, making it look cluttered compared to Lollipop. Except for the camera part, all of them are uninspiring.

Iphone 6 user here. I vote for Lollipop in every aspect, except camera interface (where iOS wins, in my opinion). It's amazing how stock android now looks like! Sure, i'm still love iOS, quality of appstore and so on, but hat's off, google done amazing job with L interface!

Like your honesty. I agree with the Camera App on the iOS is way better. I like how Android shows what the Wigets look like before you add them. I don't know if iOS can do that....haven't gotten into it on my iPad 4.

I think the voters from both sides have voted "HONESTLY"... Good to see this that users/fans appreciate the features of other OS also...

i really do hope iOS will copy app drawer and functionality where you can put anywhere you want your apps and widgets to make it look clean..

It would be nice if in the widget comparison gallery you showed actual Android widgets, as opposed to what they look like in the widget picker. In iOS you show widgets in actual use, so it's not quite a fair comparison.

In addition to that, there's the notification screens... In the iOS side, there are actual notifications. On the Android side, there aren't any. It's an incomplete comparison when one side is missing the focal point of said comparison.

I voted for Recent apps menu(only interface) & Camera UI in favor of iOS. For all others, Android FTW..

*Lock screen and home screen android, it has access to the phone from the lock screen, and tells more information , plus you font have all your apps on the main screen and Google now is amazing *Widgets android, even tho Ios has widgets, they can become clutter when added to your notification bar. *Android 5.0 Lollipop vs iOS 8 - Multi-tasking pining apps is awesome, plus apps can have different processes in tabs? android wins *Android 5.0 Lollipop vs iOS 8 - contacts I like how it looks on android but i don't think its that far from each other, I honestly don't car that much *Android 5.0 Lollipop vs iOS 8 - messaging and keyboard space bar has... well more space, shortcuts to emoticons and numbers are separated to they are east to press... easy access my long press, messaging app does whats supposed to to on both so the advantage is keyboard *Camera more modes? more stuff? simple? iOS wins this one

Agree... Lollipop very 5.0 has many advantages over 4.4.4. I like the way the arrow (or directional triangule) now changes its pointing direction depending on what you doing. Also that the phone is now faster. But the biggest improvement that I noticed is the drastically improved battery life.

Thanks for your article; butt-ugly icons and horrendously confusing UI from both OS's - once again a reminder of the appeal of WP!

i really like the windows phone interface including its camera interface, those animations when you press the home button and all. Yes, in terms of the use interface it can be regarded awesome but otherwise it loses big time. BIG TIME. PERIOD.

Windows phone has the ugliest UI of all OSes. There's a reason why it hasn't caught on with the public. There are other reasons, too, but its UI is one of the biggest downfalls of the OS. One other thing, WP isn't any simpler than the other two OSes.

Sales are not always a reflection of quality. WP has a very high consumer satisfaction rate, those who try it overwhelmingly love it. There are many other reason why a great product doesn't sell as much as it should, things like proper lack of marketing etc. I dont understand how individuals like yourself can bash something that has clearly inspired the OS you love.

I see zero similarity between WP's and Android's/IOS' UI

What makes the UI horrendous? Looks pretty straightforward for me

I picked most for the Android. I am biased because I use a Note 3, but I also have an iPad 4 running the latest iOS. I wish the article would have said "These are the stock screens, apps etc.". I don't use the stock homescreen, I use(d) Nova Launcher, Go Launcher, SPB Launcher and the stock one. I use SWYPE for my keyboard and I have downloaded different camera apps. Using your phone "as is" out of the box is like buying a entry level car with stock everything. Once you add the tires and wheels, a new stereo and a new paint becomes YOURS....same with phones...that is why I like the Android....easier to customize!

well i have iOS 8 on my iPad and my mom got it installed on the iPhone 5s and i have experienced LolliPop on my S3, thanks to XDA developers JustArchi, arter97 and Moster2, and i can say that lollipop suits me more than iOS 8 at same hardware specs, with same 1 GB RAM, lollipop feels better that is my own opinion, maybe others can have other opinions.... but the camera has less options on lollipop, iOS takes the lead in the camera department but that is not going to stop me from saying that lollipop is better!

Lollipop is Android's Vista, not coincidentally, the most like iOS8. Too bad that I couldn't choose vote "neither".

iOS 8 was a flop so I'm not surprised at the votes but I do know that many of us havnt used lollipop yet either...I voted iOS to be a rebel lol

Apple loses everywhere except camera. Can't argue with that one. But iOS spectacularly loses when it comes to home screens, widgets, and multitasking.

"Hardly anyone can deny the fact that widgets are not among the most powerful weapons Android holds against its rivals." They're not?

I don't need to vote to see the result: Lollipop wins. Because who doesn't prefer a sweet lollipop over an apple (even the bitten one) :D

Not completely true... Android users were pretty split when it came to the Camera. If people were voting simply to increase the numbers for their platform that wouldn't have happened.
