Android 5.0 Lollipop vs iOS 8 UI comparison: vote for the better interface here!

The year is almost over and both Apple and Google have already treated us to the latest renditions of their mobile platforms - iOS 8 and Android 5.0 Lollipop, respectively. We got introduced to these versions of the platforms several months ago. First was Apple, which showcased its iOS 8 at WDDC 2014 in the beginning of June. Several weeks later, Google followed suit and highlighted the spic and span novelties that Android 5.0 Lollipop was about to introduce this autumn...

Same, Google never really got the Camera interface down yet. Though in Lollipop, apparently there are new API's for image processing, which result in better photos. Regardless, Google can always improve their Camera app.

yup. agreed google cam aint the best but really iOS cam interface is just equally as basic. other than that, this poll is a joke, not a competition. Lollipop steamrolls over iOS (any generation)...changing the number in the front does not make it a new OS interface be that as it may even for iOS 15. Apple needs to step it up big time

"Click bait" article if I've ever seen one. Android seems to be the clear winner, except in the camera app inventory department. I'm curious to know, however, how many users are voting because they have used both OS's and thus are making an informed decision in each category, and how many users are just voting for their favorite OS?

I have iOS8 on my iPad 2 and Lollipop on my Nexus. Lollipop is so mutch cleaner and elegant than iOS8 (that often looks too childish...). The only step forward that iOS have VS Android is the camera app. From multitasking to the keyboard, there is no game in my opinion: lollipop is mutch better. P.S. the phone app in the screenshoots of this article are from KK, not lollipop

Now that's what I'm talking about. An honest, informed decision, based on your usage of both products. If only all Phonearena commentators made their decisions this way....

I am like you...I have an iPAD 4 and love it as a tablet, but my phone is a Note 3 running KK 4.4.2. It is nice to see Apple playing catch up with Android as opposed to the other way around. But in the end, we all win....think about it...when 1 OS invents, the others immitate and vicea versa.

I recently purchased a refurbished iPhone 5. It's my first iOS device and I'm not too keen on the software. Maybe I'm just use to Android.

I have next to no experience with iOS, I'm also running Android 4.4.4 so I'm basing my opinion off of the screen shots in the article alone. That being said I voted Android all the way down the board excluding the last category simply because I can see the distinct differences between my current OS and what I hope to get in the next month, and to me it looks like a massive improvement over an interface that I'm already familiar with. iOS on the other hand looks just like the OS that I haven't been interested in for the past several years. I know that they're getting better with each release, but for the past couple years now, their OS has been using this bright pastel color scheme that I personally identify as something little school girls would be attracted to. These are my opinions and they are only in regards to the visual appeal I have for each OS, They in no way, shape, or form express how I feel about the actual quality or performance of software or feature sets of each OS.

So you made a decision on which is best while not having, and I quote, "next to no experience with iOS". Yep and thats why these poll results are crap. This goes for anyone voting strickly iOS without ever using Android too, this just happened to be the first comment I saw that proved what I figured the results of this poll would favor. They favor people just blindly picking their OS of choice. This is the equivalent of saying "I love Twix way more than I love Milkyway." "Have you ever tried a Milky Way?" "No..."

People are hardly blindly picking their OS of choice. And at least I'm honest enough to admit that I'm basing my opinion strictly off of visual appeal, based off of the images that phone arena provided in the article above. I think one looks much better than the other. If you read comment 36, I explained that comparing GUI is subjective base on personal preference as to what looks more attractive. That being said, I'm perfectly qualified to make a decision on the questions above. Besides, how many people who actually voted above have quality hands on time with both Android 5.0 and iOS 8? I would guess less than 5%. So take a chill pill and accept the fact that people are going to participate in surveys and you're getting butt hurt over your frustration of the score not being in favor of how you feel.

Actually your uninformed decision is probably better and lease bias than most of the people who voted.

".....We can safely say that both are great and it's hard to choose a clear winner.." Why do ibiased iPhonearena reviewers always say the same old thing whenever android or a device running on it is clearly ahead of its apple counter up

Lollypop lock screen is definitely a step backwards (KK was better IMO). Lollypop multitasking will be better once the memory leak issue is fixed. I prefer the dark theme of KK over the overly bright/white in LP. Unless you like to play DSLR switcheroo with your smartphone, iOS camera software is superior.

I actually like Lollipop 5.0 lock screen way more than the one in my prior versions (4.4.4). I specially like that I can answer a phone call without having to unlock the phone and that after answering the phone call he goes back to his lock stage. Helps me avoid a lot of prior not able to answer on time phone calls...

Lol cause some of you actually think android is better than iOS. You android fanboys are a joke

Both the OS are really good. But i prefer Android Lollipop over iOS because I multitask a lot on my phone.

when iOS can multitask, multi window, and get set up exactly how i want it, then you you can talk about iOS supremacy.

LOLOL. I think you are mad because for the first time, an OS (other than iOS) looks better than an OS that comes from a company that perports to be a GRAPHIC /Creative designers OS. I have an iPAD 4 and love it....but my phone is a Note 3. Can't wait to get lollipop.

This article is comparing the GUI for each OS. This happens to be a very subjective article as it is strictly the user's opinion based on what looks better to that individual. Why are you so upset that the opinion of the majority of users is different than yours? There is no right or wrong answer, so why do you feel that people are choosing incorrectly?
