iPhone 4S...doesn't have that great of a ring to it does it... I just don't think this would be a smart move. We were okay with the iPhone 3GS because although it looked the same, it added a pretty nice video camera, more hard drive space, and a much better processor on it. Not to mention the faster internet speed (where available). But in hind sight, would we have even gotten the 3GS knowing the iPhone 4 would be the real deal? What if AT&T didn't let pretty much everyone upgrade? I know I would have skipped it. But right now, the iPhone 4 is still pretty powerful and fluid even a year later. I'm sure there are Sprint and T-Mobile folks that would love to get their hands on an iPhone. Hell, it might save Sprint. But for the rest of us, I don't see a compelling reason to get a slightly upgraded iPhone 4S.

"....But for the rest of us, I don't see a compelling reason to get a slightly upgraded iPhone 4S." Which is just great to hear! Us Android users are now the leaders in cutting edge technology of phones. The new idea will be stay with the iphone or update to the latest with Android. We already have dual core phones, better cameras and LTE - all of the 'new' items the next iphone will have so by that time we will expand even more. I love it! HAHAHA! The Evil empire is going down but will unfortunately never vanish completely.

"HAHAHA! The Evil empire is going down but will unfortunately never vanish completely." Hopefully both Apple AND Android will never go away. Competition is the reason that both of these platforms crank out great devices and OS's year after year in the first place.

yup right now Steve Jobs is counting on his brain washed followers to buy the next duuurrrphone I for one don't see the logic in buying a phone that's already behind in tech. The Galaxy S2 which I'm waiting for is like idk five years ahead of the duuurrrphone? it's kind of like Andriod is the Japan of the mobile industry and duurrphone is the America but from ten years ago.

Why did this just turn into an iOS vs. Android conversation...again? Okay, I just named one iPhone I'd personally skip over. Should I also name the multiple low and mid-range Android devices I'd also skip over...? I think the biggest reason there isn't this big push for new hardware is because they are going to revamp iOS itself...

iOS vs Android will never die. People like mentioning out of nowhere. Honesty, next iPhone is having a dual-core and 8mp camera... behind in tech?? iPhone doesn't need a evolutionary change to impress everyone. The current iOS is enough to serve to the customers. If we see last year as the generation of 1Ghz processor, this year is the dual-core and there isnt much difference yet. Quad-core next year?

true but in one way wouldn't you want to indulge in the latest and greatest tech this world has to offer? so why pay $200 for a phone that's restricted in one way or another and as much as people tell them selves how great the product is you would have to hack it to bring out it's true potential. Same goes for Android I mean it's open market and all but even with third party development you still see restrictions I say I'f I pay $200 for a phone I should be able to do as I please without having to hassle with restrictions

Whatever it is, it is a welcome move for the Apple iPhone to be available on T-mobile and Sprint networks.

i dont think the iphone4s is ment for current iphone owners. Its only real upgrade mentioned in any articles is HSPA+ support.. so its a 4g iphone.. for tmobile. suck that att/vzw. :)

The iPhone 4S (or whatever it is called) is more on the order of bringing in the remaining customers who want an iPhone, but don't want either AT&T-Mobile or VZW (aka Sprint customers). Personally, I am curious whether we will see the edge-to-edge screen and a bump in screen size to 4 inches with the 4S. The 3.7 inch screen of the iPhone 4 is just dinky compared to what is being produced in the Android world. I am also wondering whether we will see iOS v. 5.0 with the 4S.

+1 @JeffdaBeat We aren't even sure what the camera "upgrade" actually means. 8MP and 1080P capable? We know from the EVO 4G that an 8MP camera doesn't instantly grant it genie wishes and caviar dream photos. It's all about the sensor. A "4S" badging will be almost as big a joke as a white iPhone 4 a year after the black one. Expect a white 4S in 2014. I know these are simply rumors, but gee whiz.

I for one don't believe any of these rumor bullshits it's always the same crap. I'm just going to wait and see for myself they major or minor changes to the next iphone not like I really care though since I'll be snatching up my Galaxy S2 by the time the duuurrrrphone comes our.

8. andro unregistered

Very unsurprising, did any one really expect apple to change their policy and now suddenly release a 'new' iphone with a lot of upgraded features and innovations?! As usual this will be the minimum upgrade and will convince idrones that this change everything again again and they will hand over the cash drooling

bout time they revamp ios. lol yep... and ill go watch the news channel again and listen to the real 'phone savvy' hosts talk about the new iphone 'leading the way' and everyone else has to 'catch up'... HEH... now they are gonna sell year old crap as new crap. heck most of that stuff is 2 year old crap in a year old crap case.

Lol... kinda true. BUT With adobe flash on the iPhone, it is unbeatable. This is coming from a Samsung Vibrant user that have voodoo enabled on his phone.

it's funny because everyone keeps saying it's a year old, when EVERY operating system and phone manufacturer are trying to replicate iOS with its own "personal touch". Money talks, dumbass. And don't give me the whole android has multiple phones on multiple carriers. Take into consideration all the shit phones they have on garbage like Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, T-mobile so that the poor folks can feel important too.

apple are always catching android in spec, its as simple as 1ghz 1st. dual core 1st. 5mp cam 1st. 8mp cam first. 720p 1st. 1080p 1st etc(other companies such as nokia and lg 5 and 8mp cams 1st but am just comparing ios vs android) no fanboy here i have both the galaxy s2 and iphone 4

I would love to be an analyst cause you can make up anything with no proof or research whatsoever and pass it off as news worthy info... How many years did analysts predict that Verizon was going to get the iPhone before they actually got the iPhone? Analyst is just a fancy word for "Guesser"

How do you know he didn't do any research? Maybe he has someone on the inside! Lol. There are so many rumors about the iPhone its hard to believe anything.

By the time the iphone gets real LTE, android devices would be nearing 5g :). Apple you cant compete with android :D

21. HM11 unregistered

Android is up-to-date with tech. iOS isn't. While android is working on the next generation soft-ware, iOS is working on what android has accomplished already but without LTE...? Damn apple is getting their asses handled to them. But in all fairness the iPhone is a really REALLLLLLY nice phone, just not up to date. Maybe it is, which makes android ahead by Dual-core possessors, 8mgp cam, 4g, bigger screen and now 3D. Damn... But hey, the iPhone is still a great phone. Simple, easy to use, great display and pretty fast for a 3g device. I find that more women then men prefer iPhone 4 over an android device mainly because of how user-friendly it is. all my chick friends have one and only one of my dude friends owns one. At the end of the day it's up to what you want. I use android but thinking to make the switch to an iPhone device to change it up but all these new LTE phones make it hard for me to do so. But more so this whole "iPhone 4s, or iPhone 5 speculation". Damn apple say something so I can make my move!! LOL

I guess those idiots from at&t who switched to verizon to get their precious rotten apple, did a big mistake.

Fandroid losers in full effect on this article. I'm thinking most of you don't have girlfriends and that's why you're so full of pent up aggression. Hey losers want to hear a funny story. Apple doesn't even have to upgrade the iPhone at all. They can just release the same exact iPhone 4 on T-Mobile and Sprint and it will outsell any android device. iPhone on Verizon release actually lowered googles piece of the smartphone OS pie and that's just two carriers. Get ready to start crying when the new iPhone sales numbers are announced and then you can all post on the article telling us how much better android is.

With all the battery issues on the LTE droids I don't want my iPhone to have LTE. Maybe I'm crazy but I'd rather have a phone last me a whole day and then some than a 4 hour battery.

I have a thunderbolt and the battery life is amazing with the extended battery. By amazing I mean I go 16-18 hours of heavy use without charging and its still at about 45% battery life. The battery problem is far overhyped.

Another day... another launch rumor lol. I think people should aim their eyes at software rather than hardware launches. So what if your phone has 2,4 or 8 cores, if there is no software support then you will just be playing angry birds all over again on top of the same OS.
