Analyst: Apple iPhone 5, game over

0. phoneArena posted on 16 Dec 2012, 23:34

Following Monday's downgrade of Apple shares by Citigroup, shares of the Cupertino based firm's suppliers have been falling on Monday as one analyst says that demand for the Apple iPhone 5 has peaked in the U.S. and was just "so-so" in China; shares of Foxconn parent Hon Hai Precision were the biggest loser as of Monday morning in Asia...

Now you want real homescreen and widgets in iOS. Well that becomes Android. No one can match the blank canvas Android is. YouTube mycolorscreen if you want to know what i mean. Also, a major overhaul would mean changing the dynamics of OS. I doubt Apple can risk that as it would create too much room for bugs. (Read Apple Maps). Apple is the virus in the competition. Good competition means benefit for consumers. Apples average price is too high. That ways they get lots of profit, so does there shareholders. So the one who wins are them, not consumer. Everyone wants profit, Samsung, Sony, HTC. But they have priced their products reasonably, unlike Apple. I don't want premium things to make my phone LOOK better, but I want them WORK better, and by work I don't mean smooth, I mean WORK. HTC's phone look awesome while working great (I hope they improve their after sale service).

I disagree about the "blank canvas" thing. Technically, Symbian is innately more capable than Android (so far), but since it lacks major manufacturer support it is falling by the wayside.

The pricing thing is spot-on. Apple needs to lose its hubris and get with the real world

I don't know what are you talking about. I have used Symbian, infact, I respect it for giving the ideas for docks and widgets for the first time. But, I have been using Android for two years. I can make it look like anything. May be you will get what I am trying to say, if you would youtube for mycolorscreen, or theme like a boss, or 3D UI Tutorial by coldfustion. You should, it will be a treat for your eyes.

well I was using Symbian too, and I can tell you that I could've change the theme, the fonts etc. while having quite some features android lacked at the time.
As for the launchers, I in fact used SPB shell for Symbian before it even became available for android.

Now though, there is no comparison and Android trumps Symbian in every way

oh symbian...

if nokia could just support the symbian foundation back in the day when android is still not popular, symbian might be the best platform choice right now..

coz the very reason why android is very flexible as symbian is before is because of the engineers of the symbian foundation..

the one that makes the android so lovable is because of symbian folks!

nokia really made a bad bad decisions back then!

Or you could just, y'know, BUY AN ANDROID that has all those features you're looking for and more. Sure, you won't be the envy of teenage girls and housewives, but is that really important?

Its not about the number of processors. iOS is light and doesn't need that many cores. Android is highly functional and heavy, needs it. But Apple doesn't try to make their devices future proof. They want Apple fanboys to make the switch as soon as NFC comes into picture, and high res in future iterations. What I don't like about iPhone 5 is that they didn't introduce NFC and didn't make their screen wider to make it more thumb friendly (Yes, I like to type on my smartphone, A LOT). Furthermore, iOS 6 sucks. Not an upgrade. Not jailbreakable either. iPhone 5's battery is sad from what I have read, though GSMArena tends to disagree.

Apple didn't put in NFC because they wanted to push Passbook (or whatever it is called). This is an example of being a pig (aka wanting to have your cake and eat it too). There appears to be too much interest in NFC on the part of a number of significant industry participants. Apple is not going to be able to stand in the way of adoption of NFC. Passbook is not a viable alternative to NFC. The Sun does not rotate around the Earth.

If you had an Android phone, (do you?) you could be typing with Swype... on almost any size of screen with ease... instead of complaining that the screen on the iphone is not wide enough...

You forgot about the same screen used on both but
4in vs 4.7in
or the ram
1gb vs 2gb
or the glass
One side of glass vs two sides of glass
LOL JK the last one was a joke or was it?

Iphone is not a phone its a lifestyle, a brand, an image, that why specs and prices dont matter. In the world of andriod specs matter too much that new and more powerful phones come out weeks after weeks. Your high end new phone will be mid level phone in half a yr. Andriod : No icon, No brand, No image, any1 can recall any andriod model from 2 years ago or 1 year ago from mind?

HTC Desre, Desire HD, Samsung SII, Note, Xperia, Xperia ARC, Xiaomi MI 1.

PS: You made yourself look like a fool who cares about what other people think and superficial things. Move on buddy. Serious advice.

As a business student, i could say that actually eventually every business had their peak period and low period, there is no company that just be the forever dominant player in the market, let just say, Microsoft, Nokia and now Apple, there will be moment where they be on the peak and drop to the lowest and start climbing again, sorry to say this but i could say that in future Samsung may face this problem as well, but not so soon due to currently they are doing pretty well globally.

Lastly, let stop the fanboy war, everyone has their own choice to buy anything they want, let just respect their choice and with more choices it is good to us too, so every company have to compete each other by implementing their own way of innovation products for us. Without competitors usually company eventually will getting more lazy and lazy....

I abhor being wrong! I initially gave it 3-5 years after the passing of Steve Jobs before we saw the bubble deflate.

Something I'm wondering about.. 2 milion sales sounds very impressive, but how does that compare to sales of handsets from other manufacturers in the Chinese smartphone market? Given there are more than 1 billion mobile subscribers (and more than 250 million smartphone users) in China, that's what... less than 1/100th of the smartphone market when Apple's greatest sales numbers posted are always highest at release?

Price paid for Patent Trolling ... they still have time and opportunity to throw in the towel as far as their Thermonuclear stupidity goes and get back to real work rather than stretching or squeezing screen sizes ...
