Interesting ad, although they should market how Samsung does, using features etc.

In my eyes, they did this for two reasons; to mess with the people asking for IAP reform and so that even if you don't care about the phone, you still notice amazon prime

Study after study by media compainies show that humor sells. This is a amusing little commercial. I also agree with what other posters point out: It does a double effective job showing off the Fire and pumping up the value of Amazon Prime.

Which I know zero about. But, I hear it has a ton of choices....

Overpriced mid ranged phone!

The specs are only mid range for the display resolution. But the rest of the specs are top notch. Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2gb of ram, 32/64gb of storage, LTE, 13mp ois camera, not to mention 5 front facing cameras with one at 2.1mp. Lots of other sensors, stereo speakers, dual band WiFi ac, miracast, and more. So the specs are actually really good. I wish they offered this phone outside the US. I would get one for sure.
I like the fact when you are reading it will automatically turn the page or scroll up/down the web page.
I know the Samsung Galaxy S4/5 and Note offer similar features, but from what I heard there is going to be a launcher that will select the apps by just using your eyes. Now how cool is that.

Hmm problem I see is no google support on amazon products, meaning no google now, no google maps, no play store, no play music, etc. This is a complete waste of money I had the kindle fire hdx and while it performed ok the tablet had barely any apps available and I mean like 100 total, and that is garbage. The 800 soc is no slouch but is last year soc the new soc is 801 and 805 which are better overall, and the 720p display is 2 year old tech.

'new soc'

I don't like google music, other apps don't play well with it, huge call driver for me. Play store, this is android, apk it, google maps? good, so far here drive has found a few locations google didn't know existed when I didn't know the 'name/address' of something. Google now? still not the number one way to do stuff on your phone.

His reasons were more profound than yours., I agree with sgodsell here. Though I still view it as a kids phone from the ad, and love the plug of amazon prime.

At least we know the answer to the question of how Amazon will pitch "here's a phone that is basically just a tool for us and our friends to exploit and use you"...

Using children, of course.

I think the ATT exclusivity is going to pour water on the Fire.

Mayday is what will sell it to the sales reps. Reps will them sell it to people who find smart phones too complicated or intimidating. They probably won't convert existing smartphone users. I think they're aiming to get the flip and texting phone holdouts.

Genius. How often does a company get to tell a kid, "Hey tell your mom you want this 3D phone."?
Because who gets most excited by 3D? Kids this age in the commercial.

Huh. Guess I am the oly PA poster interested in giving this phone a chance.

I totally agree the AT&T deal is gonna slice the the smartphone pie way too small for this phone, but I feel anyone fully invested in Amazon could enjoy this. I am not, but I am pumped to take this thing for a spin at my local store when it comes out.
