Amazon giving away a $100 gift card for phones bundled with Hotspot plans
Looking for some last minute Holiday deals? Amazon might be the right place for that as the e-tailer has kicked off a promo giving you a $100 gift card for every Hotspot-capable Android handset you purchase.

But there’s a catch - you’d also need to activate the hotspot feature to benefit from the deal. And that could be a costly thing to do. Still, it’s a good deal for those who plan on really using it. Here are some phones you might want to consider with the deal.

1. Motorola Droid RAZR: $169.99 with contract
2. HTC Rezound: $149.99 with contract

1. Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G: $79.99 with contract
2. Motorola Photon 4G: $49.99 with contract

Will this apply if you activate and cancel the hotspots service a week or two later??

Ditto on this question. The way it looks you should be able to because the hotspot feature looks like it is a month to month addition on your plan, but that the gift card says it credits to your account after a few days.

This is waaaaay old news - when I got my phone for 1c, that offer was there - root your phone and get the sqlite app, and change the entitlement_check record/field under settings (the one with the wrench) to a '0' - check it out here and you will not have to pay extra or get a different plan:

Better yet, download Elixr2 and get your hotspot free w/out having to root ;)
