Amazon's new Echo Dot & Echo Plus bring improved audio at no extra cost
Amazon’s new subwoofer and amplifiers are designed more or less as accessories to existing Echo speakers. But it seems the internet giant couldn’t resist announcing some updates to these either, as it has just unveiled an updated Echo Plus and a third-generation Echo Dot.

Commencing with Amazon’s range-topping speaker, the product adopts a new fabric-based design that is clearly inspired by last year’s updated Echo. Moreover, in comparison to the original Echo Plus, this new one offers a much clearer sound output alongside a more powerful bass, according to Amazon. Separately, the speaker retains some of the main features of the original such as a built-in smart home hub. Additionally, the new version now also includes a temperature sensor. This will allow users to ask Alexa what the temperature is inside an individual room. Also, Alexa can be programmed to turn on the heating or the cooling at set temperatures.

Moving on to the smaller Echo Dot, this also follows in the footsteps of other models by integrating new fabric covers into its design. Additionally, just like the Echo Plus, it's claimed that the overall sound quality has been improved, as has the overall volume – the new version is reportedly 70% louder. Overall, though, Amazon has maintained the same basic user experience that makes use of the same four-button layout. But interestingly, Amazon has removed three microphones, leaving just four remaining.

Just like the previous-generation devices, the new Echo Dot and Echo Plus will be priced at $49.99 and $129.99 respectively. Those interested in the products can pre-order them both today, with shipments set to commence on October 11.
