Some Samsung Galaxy S9 phones will soon come with four pre-installed Verizon apps
Samsung has made a deal with Oath - a Verizon company* - to pre-install four apps on its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship phones. According to Reuters, the applications in question are Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Finance, Newsroom, and Go90 mobile (a video streaming app).

These four apps will be pre-installed on some Galaxy S9 models across the US regardless of carrier, and even on phones sold around the world. This deal will allow Oath (and Verizon) to easily deliver content, including videos, and ads to millions of Android smartphone users. Ad revenue will be split between Samsung and Verizon.

Update: Oath confirms that it's now "Samsung's premiere content partner on" phones with Bixby Home in the US. The four apps mentioned above will be accessible "with a single swipe" on eligible handsets. Alongside the Galaxy S9 series, the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S8+ are mentioned here. However, it looks like this deal only involves Verizon devices - we'll contact Samsung to ask for clarifications.

In most cases, users don't really like the idea of buying phones with too many pre-installed apps, which are often seen as bloatware. We assume (and hope) Samsung will allow Galaxy owners to uninstall the aforementioned apps if they wish to.

* - Verizon created Oath in 2017 by merging AOL with Yahoo (as you may remember, Verizon completed its acquisition of Yahoo last year).
