Adobe says Apple is part of the reason it has killed mobile Flash

Adobe Product Manager Mike Chambers posted on his own personal blog that because of Apple's refusal to let Flash come anywhere near iOS, the mobile version of Flash wouldl never reach the popularity of the version found on desktop computers which was one of the reasons why Adobe killed it off...

"...Chambers is suggesting that no tears be shed for mobile Flash Player as HTML 5 and CSS3 will bring the same functionality that Flash brought, directly to mobile browsers." Sounds like a smart business move. HTML5 has always been an end-stage in the mobile world. Mobile Flash was a transition path between desktop-focused websites and an HTML5 future. My issue was Steve's insistence on banning Flash from iOS. Let the end user make the decision on battery life.

Flash hogs. I'd like to see it gone from all platforms. There's no point for it with HTML5 and CSS3. Apple saw it as some fat that needed to be cut. That and Flash runs like crap on most mobile devices. Mind you, I said most not all. I know a lot of the newer Android phones that it runs perfectly on. However, it took around 4 years for it to get there.

4 years? where have you been? more like 1-2 in reality. xD

That's exactly what I was trying to say in the last article... "Adobe has a certain amount of resources at their disposal. Put simply, its far more profitable for Adobe to dump Flash - which is active on about 60% of the worlds smartphone - and concentrate on HTML5 which could be used on 100% of all smartphones." SJ wouldn't put Flash on his phones. Adobe wants their products on his phones. Make a product that can be used on Flash capable and non-Flash capable phones if you want access to the other 20%+ that Apple was holding hostage. Paden, it took about a year to get Flash right. It worked great on my DX.

Nobody is forcing you to be here. I'm sure you can find your own way to the door. If you get lost perhaps Siri can help you.

Trust me if I could I would. And its not like I went over a billion posts about flash already. I am not going to even discuss my opinions on the matter out of indifference.

its only the what.. 4th flash article this week going over the same information.. and its title is presented in a way that just begs for trolling and flaming. At the same time they are cracking down on trolling and flaming. Its kind of a mixed statement if you ask me. The title could have been worded in 100 different ways that didnt sound like the beginings of a flame war.. "adobe expands on reasons for stoping development on mobile flash" or something like that. Since many here read the title and then comment without reading the article, if they were really trying to reduce flaming, that would be a good start. But I digress... Bio, im very much with you on your point and this subject.

Exactly this article has been written over and over again all of them ending in flame wars. This is not good at all. PA if you want to stop flame wars don't provoke people. The article about flash not being supported for not much longer was fine but don't keep dragging it on provoking flame wars.

They will never do that - they like the increase attention in their stories when Flame Wars occur.
