AT&T Prepaid customers can get a free phone for Christmas with (almost) no strings attached
While the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals from America’s big four wireless service providers have unsurprisingly long expired, AT&T still has a couple of discounts to offer its prepaid customers throughout the holidays.

One is an altogether new promotion that folks in the market for a backup handset and first-time smartphone users may find impossible to resist. Until January 10, AT&T Prepaid subscribers willing to open a new line of service can get the Alcatel Tetra completely free of charge.

Released just a few months ago, the 5-incher normally fetches $49.99 with prepaid plans, so as you can imagine, both the design and spec sheet are a serious blast from the past. But could this phone be so bad that it’s not even worth a try at $0? Probably not... as long as you keep your expectations low. We’re talking 854 x 480 screen resolution, 2GB RAM, 5MP rear camera, 2MP selfie shooter, and 2,050 mAh battery low. Of course, the pre-installed Android 8.1 Oreo software is not that bad, at least on paper.

Keep in mind that your free Alcatel Tetra will be restricted to the carrier’s Prepaid service for a full six months after activation, and you’ll need to enroll your plan in Auto Pay, as well as get a minimum $35 refill card to take advantage of this literal steal.

Don’t forget about the $99 iPhone 6s deal either, which is set to continue through January 10, as well as up to $50 discounts available on select Android devices right now, from the Samsung Galaxy Express Prime 3 to the LG Phoenix Plus.
