A midranger to rule them all: leaked Galaxy A7 (2018) specs taunt new Exynos and 6GB RAM

Samsung's Galaxy A-series is the sweet spot between the affordable but lowly J-line, and the flagship S portfolio, so every time a new one is on the horizon, our collective attention peaks. The purported specs for the Galaxy A7 (2018) just leaked out on Geekbench, and, since the line is expected to follow the new bezel-less design of Samsung, they are only icing on the potential A-series cake.

The upcoming Galaxy A7 (SM-A730F) is listed with an Exynos 7885 chipset, whose leaked specs back in the summer denoted a 14nm octa-core processor with 2x A73 + 6x A53 cores, and a Mali-G71 GPU. This will undoubtedly be more than enough to power the A7 well, but the thing that attracted our attention the most is the listed 6 GB RAM.Currently, only the Note 8 and some Samsung models for China have that much random access memory, so if we see it in a Galaxy A7 (2018), that means 6GB RAM will become the norm for Samsung's flagship and upper midrange handsets going forward.

The Exynos 7885 Geekbench scores place it on par with Qualcomm's midrange Snapdragon chipsets, and, knowing the frugal nature of Samsung's homebrew silicon, we can hopefully expect the same excellent battery life from the A7 (2018) that we got with this year's Galaxy A7 model.
