32GB Google Nexus 7 appears on Staples' website; price matches 16GB version

0. phoneArena posted on 17 Oct 2012, 00:02

We've seen signs that a 32GB Google Nexus 7 does exist, from the actual delivery of the device by mistake, to a listing in Spain and another one on the inventory page for UK retailer Carphone Warehouse; now the tablet has appeared on Staples' Business-centric web site priced near the 16GB model...

Why would it make sense to get rid of the 16GB Nexus 7 and not the utterly useless 8GB? It should have never launched with such a paltry amount of storage to begin with.

8GB is still good, if only it was exactly 8GB free space, too bad the OS takes some from that free space. Just like how the 32GB version actually has around 27GB of free space....

exactly.......but now this is making me wonder if the LG nexus 4 will indeed come with 8gb since the trend seems to be constant with nexus devices :(

they could at least make it 10gb which would drop the available storage to around 8gb......would also make things look better from a consumers stand point of view without sacrificing the price point they're trying to push

Gotta be wise about it, they can do this!

Nope, I dont think they will. Now There is a universal convention that memory's of the phone should be in powers of 2. like 8,16,32,64 and the latest Samsung's 128 GB eMMC memory chips... Thats the way it is. And neither Google nor anyone will break that convention anytime soon..

well selling a phone this good at a low price has never been done either! but I know where you're coming from. Hopefully if they cant do that then they will still be able to fit 16gbs in there because it would be a real shame to have that much power with so little space to work with

Its not a shame. Cloud Storage is there is to save the day, but won't be an ideal solution.. if you crave for more memory just wait for other OEMS nexuses...

Which is why I find it ridiculous to have such a device that you will use to consume media on to come with such a low amount of storage 8GB, most phones come with that out of the gate and we're talking smartphones here, Nexus 7 is a tablet, 16GB should be the standard no if ands or buts about it.

I take a different stance than PA, I think the 8GB will soon become the $100 or possibly $150 tablet. The 16GB will drop down to the $200 price range, while the 32GB takes it's place.
