It's 2018 and the best smartphones out there still have a pretty embarrassing battery life

Just a couple of years ago, a couple of 5.5-inch phones were available with a 5,000mAh+ battery and with a frugal chip inside, they could last as much as three days on a single charge...

Don't particularly want a thin phone. I want a usable phone. Fast charging is useless unless you carry around a fast charger, or have them everywhere you go. OK for office workers like those from Phone Arena. Until I got a 4000 mAh Huawei mate 9, I often ran out of charge. Ideally I'd have more than that so I could go away for a weekend and not worry about the battery life. (from what I've read, phone chargers are the most common item left in hotels)

It looks as though the phone market has reached its first moment in which their power is being bottle-necked: Processors are becoming more powerful and the devices are not logically capable of producing the output of all that power (even if the phone can upload and run desktop-esque apps, the form factor is still unrealistically uncomfortable and impractical for running those apps and programs). at least OEMs are looking to encourage desktop implementation, because at least they're trying to 'beat us to the punch' and show some sign of awareness for the fact that a phone can only get but so powerful before the owner catches on to the fact that there's no point in upgrading to do too much of nothing beyond web-surfing and Instagram.

Yeah most other sites differ from these "stats". I have a 7+ and i charge my phone multiple times a day, but I do game, stream, music, and movies. Figure most phones won't help too much against that type of use. I am interested in the new Asus ROG doe.

If you're spending more than 6hrs a day on your phone, you need to get a life. If phone is your life, i feel really sad for you....

My last 3 phones, all Huawei, had 4,000mAH batteries, 2-3 days EASY, even with moderate to heavy use. But, since the U.S. government tossed Huawei under the bus, I don't see them having much of a presence in the United States market, and I can't blame them. Apple/Samsung still have such a tight stranglehold on the carrier market, and, if you can't get carrier branding, you can't offer deals for 24months no interest like the carriers do (personally I would NEVER own a carrier device, but some people would rather have a new crippled phone I guess). So, it looks like my next phone will be a non Huawei, but I'd prefer to have a HUGE battery, like I am use to now.
