1985 interview of Steve Jobs envisions "nationwide communications network"

Steve Jobs was a visionary, and while he also was quite a polarizing figure, it is always interesting to read about things that he said thirty years ago. Jobs was interviewed for Playboy back in 1985. At the time, having a computer in the home was unusual. As Jobs said in the interview, "The primary reasons to buy a computer for your home now are that you want to do some business work at home or you want to run educational software for yourself or your children."...

Oh look, an apple fanatic acting like having an iPhail is some grand accomplishment. Congratulations, you own an iphone. Now the whole world will know that at one point in time you had $200-$900. Big whoop.

Start saving up the allowance your parents give you! I'm sure you could afford an iPhone in a couple years

Actually I work and do quite well, thanks. I just spent under $3000 (yes, that's three THOUSAND) on a dog for my wife as an early Christmas present, and I pay full retail price for all of my phones. But please, tell me more about how I cannot afford an iphone.

Yep, and the Easter Bunny is Mr. Olympia. In the words of the great poet Jay -Z: We don't believe you, you need more people.

I couldn't possibly care less if you believe me or not. But the "duh u cant afford teh iphone!!!!" argument is played out and ridiculous. Congrats, you own an iphone. You're doing at least as well as half the 12 year olds in the country.

In the words of Jay-Z," and ya'll buy the s**t, caught up in the hype." Samsung released Jay-Z's last album, by the way.

Anyone in computers in 1985 knew that it would happen. My friend Richard B. had a trs-80 then and saved up to buy a modem... The next year, the kind that you put your phone handset into the "cups" like in war games... So, please tell me how this is news?

Without Steve Jobs Our phones today would have big vertical and horizontal scrollbars while Multi-Tap and Pinch-to-Zoom would be exclusive terminologies in the Porn industry.

That's a load of sh*t, but it's funny that you know some of that works with pr0n...

It amazing me how some of you can bash Steve Jobs. He was a brilliant man. He accomplished more in his life than most of you could ever dream of. Have some respect the man passed away. Those of you who bash on him show your true character and immaturity

"Respect is earned, not given" - me He stole, conned, lied and died. Literally nothing he did (read: STOLE) benefits me in any way. You people act like nobody else ever would have figured out how to make a touch screen phone (the iPhail was NOT the first, but I digress) but him. Explain to me how that is deserving of respect. I'll wait.
