1985 interview of Steve Jobs envisions "nationwide communications network"

Steve Jobs was a visionary, and while he also was quite a polarizing figure, it is always interesting to read about things that he said thirty years ago. Jobs was interviewed for Playboy back in 1985. At the time, having a computer in the home was unusual. As Jobs said in the interview, "The primary reasons to buy a computer for your home now are that you want to do some business work at home or you want to run educational software for yourself or your children."...

I'll start: since 1982, that was known as the Internet, then connecting several universities and research institutions in the US and abroad. IOW, Jobs was not Al Gore. :-)

My turn! When him and Woz (a TRULY great man; brilliant, kind, fair, and truly appreciative of the people who helped get him where he is) were commisioned on a project, jobs gave Woz "half" the money (a few hundred dollars). Years later Woz found out that they had actually been paid THOUSANDS of dollars for the project, and his "good friend" steve literally stole from him and kept a majority of the $$$ even though Woz did most of the work. Bonus job fact: he screwed the ground level employees at apple out of stock options, and Woz did the right thing and gave them a huge chunk of his personal shares of the stock.

You got your info from the documentary haha if apple didn't want you to know the truth they wouldn't have released the movie. You're going out of your way to bash a man that passed away which is sad. Have some respect. Steve Jobs was a genius and will always be remembered. Funny thing is when you go no one will be even notice

No, I have not and will not watch any film about jobs. The info is out there for anyone who cares to find it. I know it's asking a LOT of the average apple fan, but Google is your friend. Respect is earned, not given, Jobs has done nothing to warrant or deserve my respect, and I doubt that will change, what with him being a corpse and all...

Is this your new gimmick? Act like even more of a child and contribute even less to the topic? But now with 100% more panties?

You're clueless. Half of your day to day technology was influence off of Jobs ideas. You can say all you want about him cause that doesn't reflect upon his character but it does on yours

No it wasn't. Jobs may have stolen and patented others' hard work, but you're out of your goddam mind if you truly believe he is responsible for half the technology we use in our day to day lives. LMFAO at you calling anybody "clueless" if that is what you really believe. Additionally, jobs did a bang up job destroying his character all by himself.

haha calm down keyboard warrior. It's not what I believe its just facts. now stop getting so huffy, isn't it time to get out of your basement and go help your mom make dinner?

iOSLMFAO is right. You're an idiot if you think Steve was responsible for for half the technology we use in our day to day lives. That's just pure fanboy talk.

You have a lot of good things to say about Steve Jobs. You obviously aren't his daughter.

And without Woz, Jobs would have died a mildly successful used car salesman.

Brother I wouldn't give you a dollar for the bus. Laugh all you want, but I will pay whatever if it makes my wife happy. We both love the dog and I make more than enough to cover it. I am sure things will get better for you though. Poor guy can't even afford a shirt, pants, or mens underwear.
