Touchscreen phone comparison Q3 - U.S. carriers
0. phoneArena posted on 25 Jul 2008, 08:43
There’s no denying it, touchscreens are the latest trend in the mobile world and with the iPhone on the forefront of technology and fashion they show no sign of going away anytime soon. The iPhone was not the first phone to feature a touchscreen- they have been around since last century in fact- and it wasn’t even the first fashion phone to ditch the keyboard; that distinction goes to the LG PRADA...

Ha ha ha... I just looked at couple of pages and I am not even going to waste my time looking at the rest! So much for this biased APPLE FANBOY website. I am out .... sick of all these IIDIOT websites! Worthless and useless and highly biased info here! Guys don't even waste your time on this lousy website! I have no more respect for this site. I had iphone and I returned since it sucked and AT&T and Sprint sucks. DARE is a fantastic phone and serves me well. I am not even wasting my time debating against those other bricks. I'm out ... peace :-)

Well that would be weird, since this is a comparison of TOUCHSCREEN phones. Why don't we also throw a peanut butter sandwich, an Elephant and a fotball in the ratings as well just for sh*ts and giggles. Duh!

ohh..if u think the Dare is great...how is the IV drip to your wallet..getting better?

hows that ATT/apple extra "3g" pull out of your wallet? you like to get charged for extras for no reason other than u bought an iphone. Exept, even with the extra charges, u still get dropped calls like crazy and are stil tethered to wifi because ATT's 3g network is a joke. btw, WiFi is not a BONUS, its A LEASH. all it does is catch you up to 3g speeds because of your network inferiority

if this is an attack on pricing for the Dare, do your homework.... Dare is the same price as the I-phone if you take the premium plan on Verizon, you get more feats & A TON more text(unlimited) for less than the I-phone data plan and if you take the premium plan you geta free 8 gig card my wallet feels just fine

^ You are such a troll! Wait till all of you millions of brainless people figure out that you got raped by AT&T and Jobs. Iphone clearly sucks. I wouldn't even take it if they were giving me a free one. I used that POS and DARE is 100 times better. The phone that actually works and the one that is very practical unlike iphone that is souped up with all the useless apps and games. I need a phone that can perform functions of much cheaper phones. This review is totally useless I don't even care about reading it since I know that I am 100% happy with my DARE and I am careless about the other ones.

Ha ha! YOU WISH! I love my DARE and I will. Iphone is a freaking joke. 3 of my friends don't even have them anymore they bought more useful phones that happen to be more convenient and reliable.

There are definitely some biases in this review. However, as the author stated, the categories they used and the way in which they scored the phones were based on what they believed the typical touch screen cell phone user values. That being said, it is unfair to call the review "crap" when the editors took our criticisms of the last review to come up with an overall very comprehensive, although slightly biased, review. I have tried all four phones and generally agree with the author's statements. However, the rating and scoring system is highly flawed and needs to be reworked. For example, for a phone review reception and call quality should be a separate category rather than being lumped into "performance." (I actually ended up buying the Dare for this reason.) I believe this site provides great reviews, pictures, and news about cell phones in an easy to use and comprehensive site. I want to thank the editors for their hard work and hope that they don't quit due to our ungratefulness. However, I hope that they continue to listen to reader feedback (even if it is unnecessarily caustic) and continue to hone their craft. Hopefully, we can leave feedback without making wild fanboy accusations and instead leave feedback that will help make the site more useful to use all. Until then, I'm very happy with my "3rd place" Dare.

I agree with most of what you said. By far my biggest problem with this comparison is the discrepancy between the individual products ratings and the ratings within this review. Another problem that I have with this comparison is that in more than one category the iPhone is excused for lackluster performance without much reason as to why. The most obvious example of this is the mention of the severe software issues. I do not feel that it is fair to call this comparison "crap" or "bull****", but I do believe that certain parts of it are extremely inaccurate (particularly the Dare's touchscreen being unusable, as that is entirely false). BTW, I am a proud owner of both a Dare and an iPod Touch and can honestly say that while both are incredible devices, neither is even close to perfect. Thank you Phone Arena for putting this comparison together. I just hope that next time, as I said before, there can be at least a little bit of consistency between individual ratings and comparison ratings.

you cant really compare their phone ratings, b/c theyre not all rated on the same basis. for instance, a basic phone might score higher than a smartphone because it does what it does well, even if it isnt feature packed. i believe in the dare comments they said it was rated so high because of what it does in comparison to other verizon phones, not every phone out there. its a somewhat flawed system, but to a degree it makes sense. i think this review does a good job of looking at these phones on the same plane, so you can get a more true comparison, and id like to think thats why phone arena did this.

Excuse me, but where do you see the Apple fanboyism in this? For starters, the iPhone didn't win. They panned it pretty hard in the miscellaneous category, but you don't have to be a fanboy to see the software (when working, as they point out) is the best out there and the multimedia features are untouchable. The only Apple product I own is a 2GB Nano, and I have no intention of every buying a Mac or an iPhone, but all these "the DARE wipes the board" comments are just plain idiotic. The only fanboyism here is by all the Verizon idiots who ruin pretty much any comment section on this site.

You didint see the 1st posted article, this article has been revised after everyone was annoying because phonearena forgot to add the most important categorys of a phone, after this revision now the instinct win, in the previous one the iphone won. Almost everyone agree that the iphone has the better software(Ui,OS), but phone performance is poor(reception, call quality, network, volume) thats why people is angry because the iphone is overrated, and i agree the Dare is not the best phone ever created, or way better than the iphone, but the Dare does the job that the iphone cant do. You only have to see the customer satisfaction there are more happy dare owners than iphone owners, even that they are less. No more drop calls for me. No more friends telling me "Why dont you turn on your phone".

^ So true man! the same reason why I am on Verizon. Verizon has no competition in my area. AT&T barely has any presence here with their inferior network and customer service so all the is irrelevant. DARE is much better choice in terms of a very nice and practical phone.
