Sony Xperia TL Review

The name’s TL, Xperia TL. Just as the secret agent made famous in the big screen, this “James Bond phone” from Sony surely comes off as being nonchalant with its attitude, since it’s deceitfully packing some killer hardware under its façade. No doubt, it’ll be making an appearance in the latest movie installment of the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, but more importantly, is this something that would actually impress even the famed secret agent?...

I just picked mine up yesterday, and I love it! I also have a HOX and the SG3, and have to say it's on par. To me the impressive part is the build quality, most of the body is metal as opposed to plastic, yet no one metions that on the reviews. Liveware is pretty cool, kind of like macros for your phone. Still playing with the camera settings, but impressed that at least it has red eye reduction BUILT IN!!! Unlike both my HOX and SG3. For the price it actually is pretty impressive, give one a try before being a little too quick to judge....

Really its a bond phone, with its 13 megapixel camera it can replace a digital camera , touch is very smooth and responsive. its design is also very sleek and it looks a very stylish phone. It feels good in both holding and using this phone.

Dude, you sound like there's going to be a laser beam shootin out of it any moment. Bond phone...sheesh!!
I agree it was endorsed in the movie, but that doesn't make it the real thing IN the movie.

I purchased mine over this weekend and so far I have to say it's pretty impressive. Now mind you I currently own both a HTC One X and the SG3, so making a comparison for me is pretty simple and easy to do side by side comparisons. The first thing I'll say is the screen is n ot as bright as my One X, but the clarity and color reprsentation are amazing. The viewing angles can be tough due to the refective nature of the screen, but I actually like this feature, it's almost like having a privacy screen on the phone. It comes with some cool apps like smart connect which works in conjuction with the smart tags as well. I've set it up so when I get home, tap the smart tag and my wifi gets turned on, bluetooth off, etc. You can literally set a limitless amount of "macro like" processes just bytouch a tag or say connecting a charger. Makes it very easy for routine "settings" changes.
As for the camera goes, I will say my One X and SG3 are just as good, maybe even better, but the features with this phone are just great. My two biggest pluses are a dedicated camera button and red eye reduction flash! (finally!!!)
Battery life is on par with my other phones, about 12-15 hrs of moderate use. The button placement seems to be another gripe, but after two days I got used to it.
Phone feel solid in the hand, no cheap plastic hear. And the size is just right IMO, not too big and not too small.
I think my biggest surprise was how the phone just connected with my home network on it's own and allowed me the option to play my walkman app through my Xbox!!! It's the coolest thing, especially since I didn't even set out to configure it.
Will I say the Xperia TL is the best phone out there, no...but for the price point, build quality, and great phone it brings, well it's hard to beat at $99 on contract/$449 off.
Sony is finally making a step in the right direction....now if only Nokia and Blackberry could take a lesson from this! :)

I think dropping Ericson was the best move sony could have made. I really am excited for their products and i know that they are going to be competing with the best. They've been playing a little bit of catch up but i think their next phone they come out with will come out around the same time as it's competitors with the latest and greatest.
