Sonim XP Strike ReviewSonim XP STRIKE 8
Sonim XP Strike. Callers were in love with how good we sounded, saying it was possibly the closest experience to a landline they’ve ever heard with us. When things were clear they sounded good, though not as exceptional as we apparently did. The problem was that the audio frequently cut in and out, sometimes worse than others and at times it made the conversation nearly impossible. We replicated this issue with both of our review units. The battery is rated for 9.5 hours of use, and since you won’t be surfing the web or playing games that means most users can go several days in between charges.
Sonim has made a very basic phone that aims to do one thing well: withstand punishment. The XP Strike won’t win any beauty contests, the OS is slow and dated and the camera is horrible. None of that matters, but what does is that it was able to withstand our testing, which at times went above and beyond what it is rated for. Sonim has is a seriously tough phone for seriously tough users that may be more rugged than anything the famed Nextel lineup ever offered.
Sonim XP Strike Video Review:
- Was able to withstand whatever we threw at it
- 3 year warranty, including accidental damage
- Call quality was suspect at times

I bet you rated this phone badly with a SMARTPHONE in mind.. this is not a smartphone. this is a BASIC PHONE for pete's sake! it may not win a GS3 in terms of functionality, size, speed and others, but if u put those 2 phones through torture, i would say this litttle rugged buddy would totally win handsdown, whilst the galaxy S3 will be grinded to dust.

I've bought two, (one for my father). Wanted a no-hassle phone with good support rather than gimmicks. Bottom line is, mine broke down (sim card socket replacement), this was repaired (I had to pay the shipping as only Sonim can service it). Now after 7 months the buttons are peeling off on both handsets, basically unreadable. Sonim local and US both indicate that this is not their problem as it's cosmetic. Seriously, this is not the toughest phone in the world. Another gripe I have is that although I do not expects gimmicks, this phone has the most unfriendly user interface ever, the need to go learn from Nokia or Sony, I now only send SMS's if phoning is not an option at all. Battery life is a plus on extended trips. Won't buy one ever again.
