Samsung Wave S8500 Review

0. phoneArena posted on 04 Jun 2010, 10:04

Samsung's first bada phone - the Samsung Wave S8500 - is finally here. A few months ago we reviewed a prototype unit, which left us with rather high expectations for the final product. Now that it's here, we are ready to see what Samsung's latest and greatest creation has to offer...

This is a discussion for a review. To read the whole review, click here

First thing about Wave is that the build structure of the phone is great ! The Bada OS runs smooth as never before, forget about laggy preformance, realy fast OS. The battery is not outstanding, but its preformance are still quite good. The 1Ghz processor is fast (snapy one must say) and even if you are running some applications in background, that just doesnt slow down the phone ! And much much more ... Ok. At the end of all this, I think that SAMSUNG Wave has started a brand new chapter with Bada OS. I think that Apple and HTC with there software (iOS 4 & Android) should be a bit conserned about what Bada OS can get if they will develope more and more apps in Samsung Apps Store and if there apps will be 60% free, tahat can be a real alarm for Android and Apple !! Cheers :)

I have got a news regarding phonearena website. They have been paid by the APPLE company to give such a biased review.Phonearena is world's worst mobile website ever.Wave does't have a gud camera????????????????i think the person reviewing was drunk when he reviewed the camera or may be he was reviewing the front camera .HAHAHAHA

The interface of the in this review looks like the pre-production models. I cant help but suspect that they didnt want to review the real model since the wave can kick the ass out of all the iphones

I don't know if I necessarily agree with everyone that this review is biased, although according to gsmarena.com this phone is the TOP RATED based on nearly 85000 votes. It has an average rating of about 8.8 with it's 20 or so of the closest competitors log-jammed at around 8.5. Statistically that's a pretty big gap. I have not yet used the phone so I don't have my own opinion, but based on everything I've read, it is at the top of my list. What I will say is that unlike some other reviews I've read, this one is very poorly written. Several times I thought it was saying one thing and then the very next sentence would completely contradict that. Frankly it sounded like it was written by somebody who only speaks English as a second language, in which case I respect the fact that it is written even this well because I am terrible with learning new languages.

samsung.ph (philipines) says that s8500 has NFC.!
also, samsung wave 2.0 OS (operating system) will nave nfc (near field comunication). so i wonder it it`s just a feature yet disabled and the nfc chip is actually inside.

Bought the Wave in Oct.
all functions great apart from the diary.
Having major problems.
I can put in a diary date and during the period before I switch the phone off it is showing the correct information. Once I switch the phone off and then back on the diary dates have moved to another date entirely. When I go to edit the entry it shows the correct date and time of the original entry.
I am now on my third replacement phone all with the same fault and as my provider tells me his tech team cant replicate the problem then the problem is not real!!!!!

any body else with the same problem?

Problems must be remedied in the next update to users, not to frustrate the wave and go to the robot and away from Samsung
