Samsung Intensity U450 Review

The Samsung Intensity U450 is more for the average consumer who is looking for something more basic. It has tough competition from the LG enV3 VX9200 and Motorola Rival A455, as both offer similar features, even though the enV3 would be considered the top-model of those three phones...

To me it did not feel even close to cheap to the Rival. Sliding feels strong and solid and don't believe it ll break easy. At $50 don't expect something quite as solid as the enV3 (which is sold at $130). Also it does not have EVDO much like the Sway. For the value I expect to sell quite a few of these. Already sold our first shipment of 3.

i don't get how it has good signal reception?, but lacking call quality?

It had good signal reception, as it showed 2-3 bars and didn't drop any calls in our area. The call/voice quality (through the earpiece speaker) wasn't as good and natural sounding as on other phones (enV3, Alias 2).

Go to contacts, scroll down to 5. Speed Dial and then fill in the phone number in the Go To section and it will add it to the list.

I am having a difficult time finding a bluetooth earpiece that will work static free with this phone. All of the earpieces that I have tried will work great on my LG EnV2, but not without static on the Intensity. What bluetooth should I use with this phone?

I"ve had the phone for a few months now. To me it feels solid, reception and call quality is good. I just wanted a basic phone with a qwerty keyboard and this is perfect. I have relatively small hands so the keys aren't an issue - if you have large hands/fingers I could see where that might be a problem. No problems with my blue tooth ear piece or setting up the speed dials etc. I'm extremely happy with this phone.

Does anyone know why this phone decides to light up on its own in the middle of the night on its own. It always happens around 4:30 in the morning and wakes us up

I have the Intensity II and mine also lights up in the middle of the night, at 3:03am. It's weird that no one is touching the phone and it's lighting up on its own. Does anyone know why this happens?

Mine lights up when receiving a message or I'm charging it. That's weird that yours lights up unprompted by anything. Are you sure it's not an alarm or calendar appointment or something? Does it also vibrate or make any sound?

I have the intensity. I hate it. I drop it alot but not badly. Only a little less than a foot off the ground. The calls are bad quality and my texts don't always send. It looses battery by the end of the day. Sometimes before dinner. The camera is bad. Bad sound recording quality. The charger doesn't work unless I hold it.

My son and I have been using this phone for well over a year on the Alltel network. He decided to go on a plan with his girlfriend and got a different phone. Alltel's plan for one was a bit too much for me as all I need to do is text and talk. I went to Wally_World and got a Straight Talk phone tha is working on the AT@T network. Big mistake.
The phone has vastly inferior reception where I live. Verizon phones do not pick up that great here either. I will be going back to Alltel and my Samsung U450 next month.
I love the phone. It has never failed me and the keyboard is perfect with all the keys where one would expect them to be. I HAVE had to turn my phone off a couple of times over the past year +, to get it to reset, but this new phone that I have got now that is working with ATT&T has already hung up on me three times in less than a week.
I can't wait to get hooked back up with Alltel and get my U450 back on line. :)

Sounds like you broke the phone. Quit dropping it. You can't blame the phone for your clumsiness.
