Samsung Galaxy S4 mini vs HTC One mini
It might seem counter-intuitive, but the HTC One mini's 1800mAh internal battery lasts longer on a single charge despite being a tad smaller than the S4 mini's 1900mAh replaceable cell. The former is rated for over 13 hours of talk time on 3G or 28.8 days in stand-by, while the latter is rated for about 12 hours of 3G talk time an just about 12 days on stand-by. In addition, our own battery benchmarks indicate that the HTC One mini lasts 13% longer than the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Nevertheless, a typical user should expect at least a full day's worth of usage from either handset.
Both Samsung and HTC have crafted excellent “mini” versions of their current flagships, unifying premium user experience with compact form factor. But each of these two Android smartphones excels in its own way, as our thorough examination goes to show. The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, for example, is smaller, lighter, and easier to handle. It is also equipped with a better camera and a microSD slot for storage expansion. The HTC One mini, on the other hand, is a smartphone that would attract many with its outstanding design. On top of that, it comes with a much better screen and a great set of stereo speakers, which makes it ideal for entertainment and multimedia consumption. So all in all, its a tie and we can't elect a clear winner between the two. Both can serve as an example as to how a good mid-range Android smartphone should be made, so regardless of which you pick, chances are you won't be disappointed.

Very simple bottom line: the S4 mini is for geeks, who will value the number of megapixels, the higher cpu frequency and amount of ram, the better results in benchmarks and the SD card slot. The One Mini is for everyday users, who will benefit from the better readability of the screen, smoother interface, better sound quality (both in the earpiece and with the dual speakers) and premium design and materials.

Wait, WHAT? Which particular GEEK would buy the S4 mini?! It would be a shame to consider yourself a geek with the Galaxy! The mini versions from Samsung are made for women. And before anyone gets offended almost every woman I know (incl. my own mother) is drooling herself over the S3 or S4 mini ads. On the other hand if I wanted to show off it would be with HTC's features (HD display, Beats, BoomSound etc.).

not every man/male has got BIG hands/palms, what if the geek is a 8-year-old school kid?

Do you realize that talk goes about HTC One Mini and Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and they both has 4.3 inch screens and overall similar dimensions.

Displays are same size , but not the devices. HTC makes as usual bricks.

"Displays are same size , but not the devices."
Does I have said that devices are the same size?
I have said:
"they both has 4.3 inch screens and overall SIMILAR dimensions."
"HTC makes as usual bricks."
HTC One Mini: 132 x 63.2 x 9.3 mm
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini: 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm
How is that "brick" ?

Thanks you have offended me, i use the S4 mini and I am a boy. oh wait. you ain't human. You're just some random Cyanogen mod mascot.
25. nexusdude (Posts: 139; Member since: 22 Aug 2013)
You probably understood me wrong. I myself loved the idea of the S4 mini because it's close to the perfect screen size/performance/features ratio and would have used it myself if it wasn't for the ridiculous price compared to the Nexus 4. It's just a trend amongst women (at least where I live) and the second choice to a white iPhone 4s/5.

Let's talk about cameras, shall we? People value the "QUALITY", but because of some manufacturers, they think higher megapixels are higher quality. This is wrong but HTC FAILED to prove that. The pictures are average but not great. I would buy the HTC One Mini but the S4 Mini had me in the camera department. Also, I find touchwiz slightly more attractive.
Stock Android FTW.

I go for HTC One Mini, I like stereo sounds both loud speakers and headphones.
27. Long1 (banned) (Posts: 399; Member since: 18 May 2013)
Front speakers are BS. They sound a bit lowder but like tweeters when speakers a so small. No bass.
When, with back speakers you make bass-reflex-box with your hand when hold it, and have much more bass

Both are craps, Xperia ZR is better than these.
10. calim (Posts: 18; Member since: 09 Mar 2013)
What about the Sony SP? Or the ZR if you're willing to go one step larger.
18. boosook (Posts: 894; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
SP is much bigger. These are for people that consider pocketability THE most important thing. Otherwise, it's clear that there are many better choices (in Sony, the SP or even better the ZL).
21. buccob (Posts: 1305; Member since: 19 Jun 2012)
Actually the HTC One Mini and the Xperia ZR are very similar in size... the One Mini is just a little narrower and slimmer.... but pocketability is basically the same...
On the other hand, screen buttons on the ZR makes the screen to be smaller than 4.3" except for multimedia
12. Alex123 (Posts: 188; Member since: 17 Oct 2012)
And the price here One mini is US$520 >>S4 mini $375
HTC will never ever know how to manage selling product that is why Samsung deserve the best android seller.
One mini just has a better display and resolution with aluminum body, beside that S4 mini better in all aspects.

What about these 2 vs the droid mini? I thank that the droid mini would win even with all of the VZW bloat on it.
15. wicpromd (Posts: 266; Member since: 20 Aug 2013)
sony xperia ZR faaaaar better than these 2
17. boosook (Posts: 894; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
The ZR is not small compared to its screen size, the ZL is. Anyway, both are bigger.
23. buccob (Posts: 1305; Member since: 19 Jun 2012)
the ZR is actually quite similar to the HTC One Mini in size...
But you are correct the ZL is much more impressive for its screen size...
though the ZR would be in a more competitive price range

HTC one is clearly the winner in PA's review, but its the opposite on GSMarena.
either way, id probably chose the ONE mini, but i have a feeling the standby time on the galaxy mini is alot better.
24. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5538; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
doesn't matter, the Droid Mini kills these.
30. phonepro (Posts: 19; Member since: 31 Mar 2012)
tbh if today I didn't tell you the cpu frequency of the two devices, could you really feel the difference between the 1.7 GHz and 1.5? What I am saying is the difference between the speed in the two devices is probably not caused because of the CPU but the resolution like you mentioned. seriously i think the 1.7 on the S4 mini is just to make the geeks feel better rlly doubt you could feel the difference between the 1.5
31. gigaraga (Posts: 472; Member since: 29 Mar 2013)
The S4 Mini is better than the One on almost every aspect, and the SP and ZR suck, they don't even compare to these two.
35. najib1312 (Posts: 99; Member since: 08 May 2013)
In my opinion, anyone who hav opted for either of these devices are blindly ignorant!! I'm still having a hard time believing the fact that these 2 phones are priced similar to Xperia Z (US$500).
As a regular consumer, I would save my hard earned money and spend it wisely on either Xperia SP (USD305), Xperia ZL(US$440), Xperia ZR (US$480) or Xperia Z (US$520).
Even when u just compare these 2 against Xperia SP which is almost $200 cheaper, U can clearly see Xperia wins hands down!
36. artealis (Posts: 98; Member since: 15 Dec 2010)
sony fan are the ignorant.
in here xperia SP cost 399$, xperia Z 610$ drop 100$ from 710$, xperia ZL 540$ and xperia ZR not here yet so i dont know the price.
as a regular consumer i will read this first: Xperia-SP-WIFI-range-ISSUE
there are alot other option like LG L9 2 or optimus G or galaxy S3 or lenovo k900 which still cheaper than xperia z zl zr series and still give good performance and without wifi bug :D and bad wide angle visibility.
i stop using sony when they charged me 200$ for repairing my one month old xperia GO, they should sell it without warranty.
u can clearly see sony xperia is not winning anywhere with bad service center.
38. najib1312 (Posts: 99; Member since: 08 May 2013)
Dude I myself is an owner of Xperia SP, bought 2 months ago for US$307 and so far has no issues regarding WiFi, it works like charm everyday.
LG and Lenovo r not widespread here so can't expect good service quality. S3 is stil US$60 more expensive than SP. And btw, all the prices I stated are retail prices from local retailers, not from Sony showroom. I never bought any phones Sony showroom, too expensive with slow service.
