Another year, another Galaxy S phone! Since the very first Galaxy S, which came out in 2010, Samsung has been regularly refining and improving its formula for success in the mobile industry. It is mainly thanks to this series of handsets that the manufacturer is now enjoying lush revenue streams and having a profound influence over the whole Android ecosystem...

to those of you who are complaining about the design of the phone. It does not look as bad as in the pictures. It looks really good in the real world. Got it yesterday, and looks really good.Even i was sulken about the design and was looking at the comment made by you guys, but once i saw it in the shop it was really good.I got the exynos version and have to say, not much change in the processor speed as i got antutu score of 26,939 very near to sd600.

You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you

I own the S3 and I think it is great. I have no complaints. Even though it is made out of plastic it still feels solid. Funny thing is no matter what it is made of most people use a case anyways so who cares. I have seen the s4 and to me there is no difference in shape or size that is that noticable. I did not pick up the s4 and say oh my god this is so much slimmer or the screen size is much larger. I am a big fan of Samsung and I think they peaked with the S3. I can't speak for anyone else but the S3 is fast and I don't really know how much faster I need. If the S4 was 99.00 or less I might make the leap but for what these carriers are asking it is not worth it.
If you were going to be make such a big deal about the S4 you think there would have been some major changes. This is why I think they peaked with the S3 because it is a great phone. I think the next thing Samsung should do is make lots of color options on their devices. I am getting sick of the standard colors on these phones. It is funny I said that because the second I get a new phone I always get a custom cover for it anyways. lol Oh well that is my two cents

i have an iphone 4 and im looking to upgrade, and i dont know what to do so if anyone could help, should i wait and see what apple can come up with next or either go for the galaxy s4 or HTC one, does anyone have a suggestion ?
465. poping (unregistered)
if you've bought some apps from apple store and/or itunes, i suggest you buy either ip5 or the upcoming iphone.
but if you are daring enough to move to another platform, say android, i recommend one of the following:
1. galaxy s4
2. xperia z
3. htc one

I have used Iphone and android and to me it is a no brainer. Android wins hands down. I think it is very user friendly than Iphone. Android has so many phones to choose from and great screen sizes. Custom roms for android all over the place. I have Gs3 and I am very happy so my opinion is you can't go wrong with Gs3 or Gs4. I hope I helped.
468. davidalxndr (Posts: 2; Member since: 05 May 2013)
i think i will go with the Gs4 mainly because its far better than the iphone 5 and many tech bloggers say that the next iphone will have some minor updates aside form ios7 so i will try andriod nex and see what happens, thanks for the tip

"The Galaxy S4 delivers passable call quality - nothing spectacular. The earpiece is loud enough, but the quality of the sound isn't among the best. Things are a bit better on the other end of the line, though there's some room for improvement as well."
WTF? I guess no one actually uses these 'smartPHONEs' to make phone calls anymore. Call quality sucks?? WTF ??? What moron would by this phone? And another question: How many hand motions does it take to dial 911 ?

the wolfson audio on my s3 was super good. the one on my s4 is super damn exceptionally better...
i tried listening to "titanium" by david guetta on my s3 and my s4... damn solid bases and crisp trebles... s3 will be a minimum standard, i'll never go back to anything inferior...

It's a shame that the editors of Phone Arena insist on the iPhone 5. Even when the rate given for the articles writer to the HTC One or the Samsung Galaxy S5 is higher than the iPhone 5, the editors insist to place it on the 1st place at the best smart phone list. Again it's a shame, and more when you can see, and certify there are more advanced features on those two phones, just an example of some the good phones out there.

s4 is the greatest smartphone of all time... next is note2.. next is s3...
483. tyson3 (Posts: 11; Member since: 15 May 2012)
I just got the s4 and I must admit it is clearly the best smart phone out. I had the note 2 and I loved it and I thought for sure I would go back to it. The features on the s4 will make you easily forget about any other phone. I tried the htc1 and the new lg pro and nothing compares to the s4. There are features I didnt think I would use but I was wrong. This phone set the bar high for flagship phones period!

you won't go wrong buying the s4 before s4 i used one and the xz 1) xz battery drains very fast xz screen has washed colors xz speaker volume is low xz camera is not satisfying so who cares if it is water resistant or notxz's sony derived os is reliable 2) htc one had a 1 mm gap in the top of the phone and also had a dead pixel (old htc issues)when i disabled 3g and went back to 2g in my htc one (in order to save battery) i missed lots of calls htc one battery drains fast toohtc camera's low light performance is way ahead of the s4 + low light video performance is great htc design and feel is the best htc has the best screen and blacks are greathtc has the best quality speakers but they are not so loud as i wished them to be 3) s4 has a great battery life and with all of the features open + the screen brightness full i can use it 24 hours with no problem at alls4 camera in ideal lighting condition destroys them alls4 is much more fun to use with all the gimmicks
486. giri555 (Posts: 95; Member since: 15 Mar 2012)
S4 also has its flaws, Lag (even with octa core), Cheap looks, its looks similar to cheap Grand? S4 Battery also drains, with XZ you can carry Juice pack and with S4 you carry spare battery only difference. Speaker, not sure if S4 is louder.
487. drkuthan (Posts: 20; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
Yes it looks cheaper but s view cover saves the day
your wrong really wrong with the battery especially after the update it is really lasting long

You're telling us to use a faulty cover? Samsung covers all let you touch the screen without looking at it. My friend was calling and he stuck his face against the screen, then 'beep' the call ended. THE CALL JUST STARTED A COUPLE OF SECONDS. He even did a test and found that 'scrolling' on the cover can actually scroll the screen.
517. drkuthan (Posts: 20; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
faulty cover ? come on i am using the same cover for weeks and have no trouble with it :)
520. skyguy7567 (Posts: 148; Member since: 17 Nov 2012)
I can show you a video of my friend's SIII mini. He is the only one who agreed. Other S3s hv that problem too.

Onite battery($11.98) VS Samsung OEM($49.99) on Amazon
Tested both the Onite and stock battery---the results following:
Samsung Galaxy I9505 for this test, that's the Snapdragon 600 chipset and not the Exynos 5
The call test - has the screen off and the processor idle, so most of the time it comes down
to battery capacity.
Stock battery: 13:48
Onite battery: 13:46
Onite posted an impressive time in the web browsing test, the usual Achilles heel of AMOLED
Stock battery: 8:44
Onite battery: 8:48
Video playback is typically a strong suit for AMOLED screens, for a 5" 1080p screen that
offers brilliant colors and contrast, over 10 hours is a pretty impressive score
Stock battery: 10:09
Onite battery: 10:01

you think the samsung's piece of the pie will go to htc or sony?
maybe some, but most of that piece will go to apple...
anybody who likes aluminum will go for iphone...

Like I said before people are just making excuses about why they hate plastic. .most of y'all are going to use a case so what does it matter. .it's about the features/software..let me remind you again. .sd card slot. .dual screens. .nfc. removal battery. Smart stay. .air view. .this is what matters not the aluminum body. .oh yea bigger screens. .icrap yea right

how many people know that the s4 browser doesnt have full screen mode....you cant hide the adress bar. only the status bar...for me this is a reason not to buy this phone...the s2 or the s3 have it....

Why doesn't muddy call quality count more against phones here? For me a phone is primarily a communications device, not a computer. If I can't hold a conversation easily, it's useless to me.
500. saint_satin_stain (Posts: 10; Member since: 09 Dec 2012)
I come to this site for sensible discussion of phones, factual information, and rational review of phones. I expect that from all the participants here, but read what I actually get in many comments here. It's as if I accidentally stumbled into a troll festival. I will just read the main reviews and the specs, then visit phone stores to see and feel the phones. Monitors of this site do you disagree?
509. tyson3 (Posts: 11; Member since: 15 May 2012)
Look at these other phones people are comparing to s4 and truthfully these phones aren't built to last. HTC, and Sony phones will continue to fail bc they just don't offer enough to consumers. HTC and Sony will probably not get software updates as usual which a lot of people get frustrated with. HTC is getting good 4.2.2 updates when it should have it. The camera on HTC is horrible and I don't know anyone who even wants a Sony phone! S4 is 10 million phones sold! There is a saying "men lie woman lie but numbers dont" it's clear out of these 3 phones Samsung is the best period!
515. skyguy7567 (Posts: 148; Member since: 17 Nov 2012)
Popularity does not mean that the phone is good. In fact, more than half of my classmates would want a Sony phone as their first or flagship phone. 'phones aren't built to last' Samsung has this problem since it's first smartphone. Samsung uses high class cheap parts, that make the phone look real bit actually fake. Phone lifetime is the number one reason why I hate Samsung.Software updates aren't counted by the big android versions, but firmware. Sony's firmware has already been perfected to a scale that every single problem you guys have listed (except the loudspeaker just cause it is hardware) have been solved. Screen contrasts are real as they always are, but sharper images. Compared to the very fake and oversaturated colors of the S4. Back to updates. Galaxy Ace 2 is actually receiving its first update after two years of using on android 2, while Sony has already updated its phones once and now slowly turning them into the jelly bean era. Don't forget, Sony receives better firmware updates than any other companies. Numbers DO lie. When people are deceived by Samsung's absolutely terrible devices and think they are great, and they bring them back home and the phone didn't last very long. Samsung phones rarely last more than 1.5 years, while the Xperia mini still lasts (nearly 5 years now) and the xperia u has been out for more than 3 years and everyone's still using it. I've never seen a person using Samsung stuff that is more than 2 years old. Grandma is still using a ten year old Sony TV! I'm not sure and doubt HTC's ability to have their phones last long, but either way, people are still using the HTC wildfire
Samsung is the WORST!

Biggest pet peeve ever. When features are considered gimmicks. The stupidity is amazing. The phone can do MORE, but it's ok because they're gimmicks. How stupid are you?

Taiwan Investigating Samsung For Using Dirty Advertisement Tricks Against HTC By Adnan Farooqui on 04/15/2013
I am from Taiwan. Apparently what happen is that Samsung hire people who are not HTC users. They will pretend they bought a HTC and post fake articles about how bad the HTC is (bug, poor build quality.... Etc) on multiple big forums. And they will use avatar accounts to support the articles. Leave the comments like, "I got the same problem" "my friend had same problem". All lead to the conclusion that people should never buy HTC. This creates a fake discussion about how bad HTC is by 100, 1000 of people (actually only a group of 2-3 Samsung employees), which make the false statement believable.
This is not even advertising! This is misleading and slandering.
I am sure this not only happen in Taiwan.
Samsung is just a dirty company and cheating custoners.

Not only did I buy one of the best smart phones of 2013, but Amazon has some awesome s4 cases at great prices. I'm so excited that I just wanted to share the deal that I received on my s4 case topdiscountfinder.com/?s=s4+cases - Don't know how much longer these discounts will be active, but they have many.

been using s4 for 2 months... this is the best phone out there.. this is the most exciting... the most talked about phone in the entire universe...
as a matter of fact... the nokia and htc and whatever fanboys are all here to add comments...
i don't blame them... there's nothing much to discuss in htc's or nokia's review anyway...
it cold and dark outside samsung... you fanboys are welcome to troll here 24/7... no problem... go ahead and keep the fire burning..

does anybody can tell me if samsung I9502 s4 duos geniune product of samsung or a fake chineese phone ?
533. ashue (Posts: 28; Member since: 26 Feb 2013)
wow, a score of 9.3?? seeing that it lags so much for a flagship device, 9.3 is a real gross over-rating for s4... i've tried both exynos and s600 device, not much difference in lags..... really disappointed... hope they do good with note 3, and keep less gimmicks on it....
535. Samsungadroidrules (Posts: 104; Member since: 28 Jul 2013)
Samsung GS4 is way way better than that HTC ONE LOSER. Why?
HTC One loser Can't remove its battery when times you need to, NO SD Card Slot. 4 megapixels camera, thats Crap.
Yes, HTC One loser may have a great built better than GS4, but thats it only.
While GS4 has a removable battery, has SD Card Slot, 13 M.p Camera with many camera modes. Super Amoled HD Display, lots of advanced features.
Only HTC Fanboy or Jealous Sammy hater will say that htc one is better than gs4.

I am in the wrong place because I won't talk about which phone is best; I dont give a darning needle which one is technically best. I tell you why I like the Google Nexus 4. I cut out plastic replicas of the size of the S4, Note II, SIII, HTC One, and the Nexus 4. I tried each one a week; I dropped the S4 and Note II more often, not much, but a significant enough times so I gave each a negative. I wanted an FM tuner, removable battery (previous phone I carried two extra charged batteries, swapping faster than charging.), and expandable storage but I solve each negative with available technology. I carry two solar power chargers; I bought a tiny AM FM radio a little bigger than a match box; I bought a one TB WiFi portable hard drive small enough to fit a shirt pocket which creates own WiFi network, supports encryption. So I got what I wanted, my number one, no carrier or handset maker's skin, no carrier or handset maker's apps, pure Android, without a lot of fancy doodads. I even turn off animations. I want performance, long talk and standby times, and speed, but most of all I want a phone that I like. That's subjective, and I for one admit a reason short of tech better..
