The Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC Rezound sport an 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash. Images that we took outside with the Galaxy S III have neutral colors and good detail, while the Rezound produced over-saturated colors, and both have a tendency to over expose bright areas. For indoor images, the Galaxy S III had less grain and looked more in-focus than ones from the Rezound. The LED Flash is plenty bright on both phones, but the flash images from the Rezound have a bit of a purple hue to them.

For videos, the Rezound and Galaxy S III can record at 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. It is clear that videos from the Rezound continue with having more saturated colors, but it doesn’t have as much detail as the videos captured by the Galaxy S III.

Between them, we are more pleased with the accurate and neutral colors produced by the Galaxy S III for pictures, and also more detail with videos, than the over saturated colors and less detail from the Rezound.

Multimedia:

The music player on the Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC Rezound are equally nice and have similar functionality. The Galaxy S III includes a standard set of earbuds, while the Rezound comes with a set of premium iBeats earbuds, which is to be used with the Beats Audio intergraton. But honestly, both sets of earbuds sound good. Turning on the Beast Audio on the Rezound does give music a nice fullness to it (compared to having it set to off), but there are a ton of preset and manual EQ settings on the Galaxy S III that can accomplish the same thing.

Of course, both phones can play pretty much any video file you can through at it up to 1080p resolution; including H.263/H.264 encoded MP4s and DivX files. Naturally, the 4.8” Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy S III is a real treat to watch videos on, but the Rezound looks almost as good at a smaller size.

In PA's defense....THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME PRICE. So yes I think it's fair to compare the two if they ARE THE SAME PRICE ON CONTRACT.

It clearly shows that Verizon needs to lower their price on the Rezound, like now.

I dont know....a comparison is a comparison, regardless.

Just the pics on the 1st page alone tell my story. I hate the Rezound screen. It really does look washed out next to an Amoled screen. Its too reflective and has bad viewing angles. Its like the brightness and contrast is cranked up too high.

Anytime I can see myself in it almost like a mirror vs my RAZR....its no good for outdoor viewing.

While I would not trade my Rezound for just about anything, I agree about outdoor viewing. There is a lot of reflecting (though I and everyone else loves seeing my face) and it is annoying. I could not use it on the way to my car ever. I think that the screen is great. It is much better than my Mom's Razr to watch movies on.

such a miss match but I guess its putting the "old" vs the new. The rezond 2 aka the htc x one for Verizon should be out in a few months

hallo. i want to say that you maybe make a mistake. In AN TU TU benchmark the score is from 10560-12156. Never less. I have the SGS 3 EU and i check it again. And in Quadrant from 5000-5590. I have before htc, nokia, sony ericsson. Sgs3 its realy in the top of the phone market!! i dont know what else you need from a phone today. bye.

The US version is dual core, that is why the benchmarks are lower than the quad core EU model.

Question on how PA works:
Do you guys share the phones for review, or do you do one phone per person? How does it work with you guys since there is no "office".

As european reader of phonearena, It would be nice to show also units of weight, height, width and fatness in international units, as not all your readers are American... Thanks

isn't phonearena based in america. just because european people live in america, does it mean we have to convert to inte3rnational units whie you are here?

What BS - anyone with any "Sense" at all would take the Rez - S-OFF it and load something like NeWts zOnE XxX RLS 3.2.1 BLUE ROM before lining it up against Samsungs latest and greatest. I'd venture to guess that the conclusion would in fact be significantly different. And for what it's worth - you couldn't pay me to switch my as is described Rezound for the GSIII....

Regardless of what you think
The average consumer will probably not be able load a custom ROM
Remember Phone arena is aimed for average consumers a and iPhone fanboys
Not hardcore android modders

Even tho I have a Droid 1 that I put a load of ROMs on, I had a G nex....

I have yet to even root me Rezound. I had it since Jan this year.

A phone with a custom ROM vs a stock phone is never a good or fair comparison. Like the post above me says....these comparisons are and should be meant for the general public.

I'm really looking forward to the SGSIII vs. the RAZR HD comparison. That should be quite the epic battle.

[[Hey guys, I think the Rezound is better!]]
What's the point?
If you look at it, the SGS3 is really the only phone to get on VZW. If you say it's not comparable to the Rezound or the Razr ["and no where close to the iPhone"], what phone is to compare?
For people buying phones, this is actually a good comparison.

It does show a con for the Rezound screen tho. It really does look washed out like that next to an Amoled screen in certain situations.

If sound quality is what you want out of a phone (in addition to what was compared here), I don't see how both phones being @ the $199 price point, yet one coming with $100 ear buds in the box... how is that not automatically the better deal? Guess it just depends on what you're looking for in a phone...

I have a rezound, and was thinking about what the differnces actually are between the two. I had a chance to play with the SG3 and i still like my rezound a little better since I do read on my phone a lot. The smaller print looks better on the Rezound. There are people who own the OLDER phones, and would like to know what the differnces happen to be with the NEWER models. Even if you think phonearena is dumb for comparing these, I have a question for you:

Why did you take time out of your day to comment on how stupid this article is?

Quit being cry babys because you personally think something is stupid. All comparisons give good info to everyone about old and new phones. So take it for informative material and give it a rest.

My girlfriend has had the Rezound since it came out, and it's a really solid (literally and figuratively) phone. Yeah it's heavy and as PA mentioned, the weight isn't for everyone. It's not perfect, and I'm hoping to see some fixes with 4.0 (and 4.1 which is sure to come soon after, or at least in 2043). I've used the S3 quite a bit, and while I do like the feel of it, and the screen is EXTREMELY vibrant, they've been having quite a bit of issues with the paint chipping and cracking. This isn't too big of a concern for me because I'm more interested in function than fashion, but both phones are very nice. Yes, the S3 will win in a lot of benchmarks, it's a good phone. It also comes 4.0 out of the box. I'm one of the few people who still like sense nowadays apparently, so I still prefer the Rezound. But... Samsung makes one helluva phone.

you'd probably be more interested in the Incredible 4G LTE then since it uses the same S4 processor that the SIII has sans a few MHz and Sense 4.0 which naturally comes with ICS.

i personally don't mind the weight myself. it makes the phone feel more premium, sturdy & substantial to me.

Fantastic phone. Received my white 16GB pre-order yesterday, and have been having fun with it ever since. I'm impressed with the battery life considering it's using the battery-hogging 4G LTE signal. Speaking of which, I am coming from a 3G phone and I have to say that 4G is a godsend; I live in Riverside County, CA and get great 4G signal -- this thing loads web pages just as fast as a high quality WiFi connection. The display is beautiful and is usable in direct sunlight.

You are years off the mark my friend. Been there done that with all the carriers these last 3years. Yes I had the EVO 4G, EVO 3D, Lg Revolution, Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Galaxy Nexus, and now Galaxy S3 on tmobile. I kicked VERIZON to the curb for it's crappy dBm/asu as well as it's poor reception/signal strength. Tmobile BITCH SLAPS Verizon all day long..

Isn't the SIII much better than the HTC Rezound. I don't even think the rezound was a flagship phone.

It was flagship at the time for HTC on Verizon. The G Nex and RAZR/ Maxx were too.

Some would argue that it is still flagship for HTC on Verizon vs the Incredible 4G. I actually think the Inc 4G might be better tho.

I thought this seemed crazy, but with the Rezound at $75 vs $199 it's food for thought. (I still kick myself that I didn't jump when the Rezound was $25 for a week or so).
