0. phoneArena 18 May 2012, 08:41 posted on

Always a difficult decision, choosing between the latest and greatest Android phone or the latest and greatest iPhone is a problem that every smartphone user faces at one point or another. Having both the Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple iPhone 4S here with us, we thought that we absolutely have to pit these two ambitious guys against each other in order to make it easier for you to determine if you are more of a Galaxy S or iPhone user...

dumb comment if you are going to post make sure you post something interesting. back to topic the galaxy S3 brings more to the table with their new added features, and of course it has higher specs overall.

THE IPHONE 4S IS THE BEST PHONE EVER! Jk Jk lol now that I have your attention, I really think it is just a matter of opinion. I would prefer the galaxy s3.

and thats it it is ALL a mater of opinion. apple and android and windows and black berry fans all will find a reason to stay with what they like.

Firstly, I choose Samsung Galaxy sIII.
And i think these reviews are pretty shallow, phonearena should go for in-depth reviews.

Well this whole article is opinion. The reason companies keep making different phones is because different people want different things out of a phone.

But if you stick to specs and current trends, I think it's hands down the GSIII is the more desirable phone. I wouldn't buy either one personally, but I'm the minority with that statement.

I think the conclusion sums things up nicely. Both phones have pros and cons and its up to the consumer to decide what's best for them. Personally I'm not i love with the whole "giant screen" trend so the GS III is out for me. Maybe a One S...

ray,
great review. I was interested to see just how you wrote this up.

one nit pick though is on the syncing..when comparing the 2 you completely neglected the sgs3 's ability to use Google drive to back up everything, the fact that Gmail has always synced contacts or that g+ auto syncs your pix to privace folders online. the Samsung cloud services are not necessary.

Why do you guyz bother cloud when you have microsd card slot with support up to 64gigs
I think 64+64=128 gigs are enough for a phone even if you wanna play games like GTA IV on it

people can call me mad but as a matter of fact we can't enjoy as much privacy with (i)cloud than a SD card

because content in the Cloud is accessible from anything that'll take your password. phone, tablet, laptop, pc. it's available anywhere.

but what use is the cloud if you are not always guaranteed decent speed? not hating i use drive and dropbox but sometimes it is useless when i cant get decent speed where as with a sd card or built in memory, its always there regardless of your connection speed...cloud is not perfect but is great as you said its available if you got the connection and speed .its why i always buy phones with sd card slot.

you're right it's not guaranteed but if you're using a network like Verizon's 4G LTE or T-Mobile's HSPA+ then you'd just about think it is and besides most cloud services allow you to download your content so you don't HAVE to waste space on your phone with movies and music and such but you can if you want to.

I am in India and where i live i have no 3G service..........
BTW I used cloud through WiFi but that was damn slow. So, no sd card slot is a deal beaker for me..

good god man, you'd think they believed we were trying to force them to use the cloud and nothing else wouldn't you?

The 4G LTE markets and man, i'm not even sure why you mention T-mobiles HSPA+, don't cover a majority of markets yet. Even then, you use more data on 4G and HSPA+, and nearly every carrier is not unlimited data, so you are just asking for overage charges on data usage.

exactly. and if someone steals my phone that's synced, I haven't lost a byte of info.. if someone steals your phone that u don't sync anything with.. you lost everything.

you know you can sync your phone with your computer as well right? What are the chances you lose both at the same time?

ive been working in the industry for a while now and the one thing i can say, is that almost no one backs up their phone to their computer. iOS is/was fragmented to all heck and back because of the old requirement of having to wire it up to iTunes to get updates and do back ups, regardless of how much the media ignores it... RIM and WM5/6xx both had computer back ups and no one used them either.
Syncing is thought free. It just happens and you dont need to worry about it.

I used Activesync to back up my WinMo phones to my PC back in the day.

The amount of customers that come into Best Buy and don't know if they have icloud or how to use it is staggering. Most consumers don't know to do either one, you should try being less biased.

Cloud will in increase your payments because of huge traffic!
Also what you gonna do with your Cloud when there is no internet connection?

well then don't lose Internet Connection there babe or is that just too much to ask? ;P

the point is you have your stuff available if you want it. you're not obligated to use it but you can have more available to you when you have a solid Internet Connection which i'm not worried about on Verizon.
