Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 Review

0. phoneArena posted on 31 May 2012, 05:11

As we’ve plainly pointed out in our review of the Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6, it would astound us to know that someone would even fathom choosing it over an entry-level Android powered smartphone from any of the prepaid carriers out there. Frankly, you’re throwing away $149.99 with the purchase, but if you can somehow inch out and invest another $50 to the tally, there might be enough validity in buying the beefier Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 as an alternative media player solution...

and to add a comment about the internet “jerkiness ” described. If they only tried it on phonearena.com .. Then I'm not surprised about the poor performance. Phonearena has so much going on its very staggered load on most of my mobile browsers. When I turn off ..load java auto... Then its smooth.

It's hilarious that you mention that because nearly every other website I visit, my phone's browser is very smooth. But thanks to the thousands of flash ads, photo ads, hundres of photos of phones, etc etc etc. It takes the most powerful processor and optimized browser to be able to run it smooth.

Is there a possibility that this galaxy player can be updated to ics?

Honestly, there's no point in buying this when there are cheaper Android smartphone alternatives and better media player options.

lol. Dear John, what's up with you? I usually like your articles. But come on, it's a media player - audio quality is a major aspect - which you pretty much ignored here. Sony Walkman Z also runs android and destroys this galaxy in all major aspects. I can't believe you didn't compare those two here.
