Well folks, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock of late, then you’re probably well aware about a couple of superb smartphones that’ll be competing against one another. Already, we’ve raved about how LG has managed to steer itself in the correct direction with the Optimus G, but without giving them any breathing room, Samsung is itching to bring back focus to itself with the impending launch of the Galaxy Note II in the US market. Therefore, let’s find out how they compare to one another!...

Also mine... every review of every other phone around.. increase my love with the Note 2. Guys..put it simple, we have the best phone of the year.

So Sammy killed SIII by introducing Note 2?
18. Jeradiah3 (Posts: 1013; Member since: 11 Feb 2010)
i dont think it did, but it does make the value of the S3 slightly dimishished. But we all knew this was coming because the original Note did more than the S3 anyway. The Note 2 enhanced the features that we love about the original one. I cant freaking wait for this phone to come to AT&T

I prefer it this way. Next year the S4 should beat the crap out of the Note 2 and the Note 3 will beat the crap out of the S4. I upgrade every year and prefer to have a model that is worth upgrading to.
Just look at what happened with the iPhone 4 and 4S; weak.

this is what technology is coming to these days. Thats why I like to upgrade to phones that will remain relevent for at least 18 months. I have the Inspire and it became obsolete after 8 months lol. Having the S3 or the Note II would stay relevent until next summer at the earliest. I dont want to upgrade every year because that will get expensive, but having a phone that is innovative is a way to go

I wouldn't say so. Each is targeted at a different area of the market, so neither really makes the other obsolete.
39. yajia1 (Posts: 119; Member since: 22 Aug 2012)
Nope. When you own an S3, and see someone with the Note2, you'll feell like your S3 was suddenly so tiny and fit well in the hands.

Comparing a Samsung phone to an LG phone? That's like comparing apples to s**tty apples.

both phones have their strong areas and areas which are not their strengths, but the better benchmarks of the optimus g are really something. alternatively, the bigger screen of the note 2 and the s pen are in samsung's favour. so in the end, it all depends on a person's personal taste and brand-orientation
5. abish1234 (Posts: 51; Member since: 22 Oct 2011)
Do i need to read the entire comparison to find out which one is the best??.. no.. the answer is obvious..NOTE II...
7. davidvvassallo (Posts: 39; Member since: 02 Jul 2011)
Sure the s pen might be appealing at first but after a few days you wont even use it. The lg optimus g is the better phone in terms of hardware it has the best cpu and gpu at the moment, while the Note II uses last years cpu and gpu(even though its over clocked), in terms of features the Note II wins by a bit. Conclusion Optimus G is the best phone.

I am struggling to make sense of a comparison like this.. to me this is like comparing a car to a motorcycle. One is not better than the other, just for different uses/people.
I want a phone with a big ass screen.. I want to see the Note2 compared to other big ass screened phones.. not smaller.
The Note2 is for a certain demographic that more than likely KNOWS what they want. I don't care if a phone comes out with 4x the specs of the Note2.. if it doesn't have the 5.5" screen or similar, I don't want it.
Having said that.. the LG looks pretty good.. for a little girly phone! :P
C'mon Verizon.. HURRY UP WITH THE NOTE ALREADY!!

If I had to choose between the two, i'd go with Note 2 of course. It's more of a miniature computer than a phone and as a creative user, I have lots of stuff to do with the S-pen and the big screen. Lastly, the battery is simply amazing. Besides, LG's bad record of SW updates scare people.

Dear John V, i think it'll be better for you to not mention sentences like "...when it comes to it, it's a matter of personal preference".
Honestly, it defeats your purpose of reviewing or comparing the phones!
Now I've went through and realized that you've used those kind of sentences more than once. Yes, i agree it's a matter of personal preference but i think you shouldn't use it.
If an expert's opinion, like yours, didn't matter, we wouldn't be reading it...and we would solely be relying upon our own "personal preference"!

Note 2 technically doesn't have any competitor as of now. Maybe HTC DLX (aka butterfly) or the upcoming xperia tablets may be able to heat up the competition.

Does ANYONE know why no White Note 2? Seems like ATT, T-Mob only has Tit Gray.. WHY??
26. Mke5Mke (Posts: 18; Member since: 10 Oct 2012)
I hate the white. I'm trying to decide between these two phones and if the Note 2 only came in white, it would make this decision so much easier - - I would go with the Optimus G. Unfortunately, there's the gray.
When it comes to design, I'm really not a fan of Samsung's latest devices. I'm extremely disappointed that the Note 2 looks so much like the SGS 3.
I think I would be more productive and organized with the Note 2. Unfortunately, the AT&T version eliminated the split screen feature! So that's a major CON.
A third, unexpected option would be welcomed. But I'm not holding my breath.
28. Mke5Mke (Posts: 18; Member since: 10 Oct 2012)
Actually, I think I'm going to jump ship. WP8 & Nokia Lumia 920 in gray.

While the note II sounds amazing, The optimus G sounds amazing too. The problem I see with the optimus G is the call quality isn't the best. And the problem with the Note II is its giant. I drew out the dimensions and the note II isn't that much bigger, but it for sure is big. I think that is the deal breaker for me, well that and the extra $100 bucks. for AT&T. They both have powerful quad-cores and 2 GBs of RAM. With the ability for a microSDXC up to 64 GB. I am going to order the LG optimus G soon.

comparison is dumb...but the winner is Optimus G...except when the phone overheats and the touchscreen becomes useless...but otherwise it rocks

Funny hearing all u sammy lovers run ur mouth about galaxy phones..... coming from an iphone that until the s3 came out my iphone 4 and 4s out performed every samsung piece of crap made. And now lg drops one bad ass piece of equipment. First its processor outperforms the tablet... i mean note 2 in every way shape or form. 2nd lgs screen is a true hd screen the note 2 is a stretched out over saturated s3 screen.. so stop riding the band wagon people open ur minds and face reality lg has the best phone on the market right now. Hands down
