Samsung Galaxy Note II vs HTC One X

0. phoneArena posted on 26 Sep 2012, 02:09

If you are just now starting to look into larger screens, there are a number of those to take into account before you jump into the Note II adventure. One of the big-screen Android leaders is the HTC One X, which, with its 4.7 inches, is a sight to behold, too. Is the Note II the right fit for you, or will an HTC One X be better for your pocket, both literally and figuratively speaking? Read on our comparison to find out...

I would def prefer Samsung Note2!!
Stylus is amazing, larger screen, usually better color saturation due to SAMOLED screen technology. Better battery life Exynos Chip is going to most likely perform better and also easier to modify in future. HTC Sense bogs down the phone too much I think HTC needs to consider eliminating HTC SENSE and go pure Jellybean along with even Samsung TWiz.

Waiting for the iPhone 5 vs Galaxy Note 2 comparo so I can get some help deciding what to get!

I love the Note 2 but I'm afraid I'll get annoyed with the gargantuan screen, and iMessage makes texting easier. Does anyone know a way to get group messages synced in one thread if you have an Android phone?

just search for 3rd party apps

Android phones within a year old usually have had the group text feature already.

I have the International One X. Much easier to manage and to live with daily than the Note 2.

I'll take the X this time...nice built, good camera, enough for a screen size!

the batteries already made my decision...

Thanks for the review daniel p with the note 2 and the one x, I've been waiting for a review between these two phones for quite some time now since I like both of them. The review is really neat and I can see an unbiased comparison between the two. We can see here that the note 2 has advantages over the one x like the removable back cover, micro sd slot,a bigger screen, faster processor, bigger memory, bigger battery, etc while the one x has the best looking design, more enjoyable sense interface,a better screen(slcd 2 and a more pocket sized one),etc. Once the one x gets updated to jellybean, we will see that there won't be much of a difference between the two especially because of the new features and improvements...

On the HTC One X, if you want to use the screen on full brightness (which is required outside on a sunny day) It drains battery life fast! So fast, that in one hour of heavy use outdoors using GPS, the phone will go under 10% battery and turn itself off. I'm always having to adjust my screen brightness to conserve battery power. Even the auto setting is worthless in regards to battery life..

note 2!!! better battery, better power (cpu and so on..), better sound, better video capture,
better multimedia experience, spen features, amoled display, microsdcard up to 64 and so on..

the note 2 eats the one x clearly lol

great review, i'm happy with my One X anyways planning to get Galaxy NoteII, unless HTC nexus phoneblet promises more :)

The battery is removable. Oh yeah! I am on my way to buying a Note 2 and an extended battery.

12. bayusuputra posted on 26 Sep 2012, 08:40 1

Nokia 3310!

But seriously, the One X is really a beautifully design phone.. Too bad it has a non removable battery and sd card..

although the choice is clear here, I will still get the One X just because I love the built quality and design of it.. I can root it, so I have no problem with Sense.. The only thing that bothers me is the 1800mah battery, since a custom kernel has already allowed for a USB-OTG support now.. And 23GB user accessible memory is more than enough for me.

to each his own. :)

Wouldn't it have been easier to just write a short article headline that said "I am an HTC Fan"?

Seriously the One X has nothing on the SIII, let alone the Note II.

If the size of the Note II is too big for someone they should be looking at an SIII, not a One X.

Other than possibly physical feel (matter of opinion) there is nothing about teh One X that competes with the SIII. I used to like HTC but now all they make is overweight, under battery sized, dull screened, garbage.

16. ahhxd717 posted on 26 Sep 2012, 16:14 4

I can understand saying the SIII is a little better than the One X, but saying there is nothing about it that competes to the SIII is an overstatement. I have a GNex, which has more or less the same screen as the SIII, and when I look at my friend's HOX, that screen is obviously superior- definitely not "dull screened". And it's not overweight or slow at all. Don't deter people from buying a product it seems like you've never really used.

i choose htc one x's screen anytime over the sgs3.. it's a really bright and vibrant screen, even many reviewers think that it's of higher quality than the SuperAMOLED HD of the sgs3..

14. bigstrudel posted on 26 Sep 2012, 15:18 3

The One X is dull screened? And you prefer the S3's pseudo HD Pentile amoled that shares every third pixel. Not to mention that it has screen brightness ramped down to half that of other phones to extend its battery life.

Sorry bud the One X has a few issues but the display is not one of them.

21. remixfa posted on 28 Sep 2012, 12:57 2

im sorry, wasnt this comparing the Note2 vs the OneX? What does the SGS3 have to do with it?

I'd take an SGS3 international over a OneX any day. Feature to feature it wins on everything except screen.. but your still comparing the 2 best screens, so its not like your losing much.
I wouldnt take either phone's underpowered American version though. You can keep the base krait chip/gpu, thanks.

Id take a "note2 mini" over either of those phones though.

15. bigstrudel posted on 26 Sep 2012, 15:23 2

I prefer the One X. It's fast enough already, more pocketable and has a great build quality and display. I don't need expandable memory so it's a clear winner for me.

17. Jonathan41 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 05:07 1

One X. Beautiful UI Skin, great build quality and Wonderful S-LCD display. Non-removable battery and SD card slot do not bother me personally. Free 25 GB Dropbox space is a great bonus with the One X.

20. remixfa posted on 28 Sep 2012, 12:55

If the note2 had a "mini note2" at like 4.5 or so inches, it would be darn perfect to me. Keep all the functionality and S-pen, just make it a tad smaller.
GRR!!! lol

23. Berzerk000 posted on 29 Sep 2012, 04:24 1

I'd take the One X just based on the size... Can't get the Note in terms of handling. And then there's the fact that I just don't like Samsung all that much. I still much prefer Sense over Touchwiz, and I enjoy the design of the One X over the Note II and GS3 as well. Plus, the S-LCD 2 is just incredible, and even though the new RGB S-Amoled display is great, I just like LCD better.

The overall power of the device doesn't bother me much. Whether Tegra 3, Snapdragon S4, or Exynos 4412, it will still always run the system perfectly. Yes, the OC'd Exynos is more powerful than anything out their right now (except the Optimus G), but you really can't tell the difference. I mean, even my Snapdragon S3 powered GS2 runs perfectly (except a little slow in the browser), so there will be very minimal performance differences. Even if you include manufacturer overlays, a One X with an S4 and Sense 4.1 runs just as fast as a GS3 with an S4 and Touchwiz UX.

24. ruchi posted on 03 Oct 2012, 09:04

The main difference is screen size and storage capacity. Note 2 is bigger (5.5 inches > 4.7 inches) and it has 64GB storage capacity. Also it supports memory card which one x doesn't.
