Interface and functions:
Both handsets of the Samsung Diva Collection 2010 are feature phones and neither offers anything impressive in terms of software. The Samsung Diva S7070 utilizes TouchWiz interface and comes with typical things like widgets, main menu of several pages etc. The novelty feature here, especially for eager shopping fans is the “Wish List” function. The application permits you to group the things you want to purchase in various categories and each entry can be assigned relevant price, quantity and priority, meaning you can get a rough idea of how much cash you´re about to part ways with when you get to the shopping mall.
It´s a cool thing that the Samsung Diva S7070 sports proper (WebKit-based) internet browser that loads and visualizes heavy web pages and allows for zooming by keeping a finger pressed against the screen. The handset is also equipped with applications for social networking, but lacks 3G and Wi-Fi support, which guarantees the connectivity speed will not be amazing.
The Samsung Diva folder S5150 is not equipped with any features specifically aimed at ladies. There is a shortcut bar on the home screen where you can place up to 15 applications of your own choice. We need to point out that the golden theme goes perfectly with the overall appearance of the phone.
As a whole, both handsets aren’t exactly sophisticated devices in terms of multimedia functionality. They sport audio players, FM Radio and music recognition service, but lack 3.5mm jack and support for DivX and Xvid files.
Both models of the Samsung Diva Collection 2010 are equipped with 3.2-megapixel camera without autofocus and flash. The manufacturer promises that several interesting shooting modes will find their place in the final versions of the interface of the Samsung Diva S7070, like Beauty Effect (flaw detection and removal) and Lomo Effect (allows for snapshots with artistic value), but they are unavailable on the prototype.
The Samsung Diva S7070 and Diva folder S5150 can both capture videos at QVGA resolution, which is below par as per today´s standards.
Expectations:
The first models of the Samsung Diva Collection 2010 rely on outer appearance entirely. All told, they are likeable handsets with basic functionality. We do hope that the Samsung Diva S7070 and Diva folder S5150 will not be the only devices aimed at the fairer sex in 2010 and believe the manufacturer should add several high-end, technologically advanced cell phones to the series.
